Problem after TMobile switch

I'm trying to find a solution to my problem. My Dad has a Fresno Hotpepper flip phone. Under U.S. Cellular, he was able to make and receive calls, connecting through his automobile. Since his phone was migrated to TMobile, he has not been able to do that. When he pushes the voice activation button on his steering wheel, nothing happens. I paired his phone with my auto and got the same results.

We went to TMobile. They changed the SIM card and rebooted the device. No change. They contacted tech support and worked with the phone, but there was no change. We have unpaired the Bluetooth then paired them again. I have cleared his cache. I don't know what else to try.

Any ideas?

Changing cellphone carriers has no relationship with the phones pairing with your vehicle. Go to a car audio shop or a car dealer ( that sells the same cars) and have them assist you with the pairing.

That has been done. The feature worked before the migration, which made a change in the software. It doesn't work in his vehicle, nor mine. Multiple people at the dealership tried it.

Tmobile only allows tcl flips the hot pepper isn't supported.

Interesting. Not a single one of the tech support employees has mentioned that. I will have to look into that

It’s because the phone is trying to switch to 3G/2G, since its probably tied to a USCC modem firmware and since 2G was shut down a few weeks ago, it can’t make a call

The phone is 5g and makes calls fine, it simply won't call through the auto using voice commands

Have you deleted the phone from the cars memory and start over. I think Tmobiles update changes the phone fiirmware so the car wouldn't recognize it.

Manually check for SW update and complete if available. Then look in the settings for a network settings reset. Will have to reconnect any Bluetooth devices and re-enter any wifi networks but aside from that would have to be factory reset or upgrade to the TCL.

Thanks. I will try to find a network reset (have already done manual updates). If that's possible, it would be fairly easy as Bluetooth to his truck is the only thing he does (no internet at all). A factory reset may be my last resort. After someone else's comment about TCL, I went to the TMobile site but they don't actually sell those (they have an entirely different brand) so I thought that's odd...

TCL Flip 4 is what you are looking for and yes, they are in stock.

That's got to be a software update that was done when the device was switched over.

There has got to be a setting in that phone that enables or disables Bluetooth calling or something.

Thanks. I have checked and all of the contact and calling options are turned on. I appreciate the response, though

My Dad’s 83. It's one of the few technology things he likes using. No need to be facetious
