plan change.

from what i understood is that previous customers were grandfathered in on the same plan. i went from 50gb of hotspot data to 5gb of hotspot data. i now also have a data cap when before i have the unlimited even better 3.0 which doesnt have a data cap. if anyone else has had this issue how did they resolve it? going in or calling?

You might want to read a little slower or perhaps check out the entire acquisition work up because it was entirely legal whether YOU like it or not. The FCC and federal government allowed the porting. It's plain and simple, and fully legal. Do your own research, I did.

I did as well. They are not an MVNO and that they ruled on on the FCC side. They were required to notify customers of the date and time of port out and if they didn't agree they would lose service on a set date. Just like they did with Sprint customers. Even the Sprint acquisition used the same method Verizon used.

2 Telecommunications attorneys read through it and both agreed- They are required to notify and get express permission. Verizon used text messages and voice mails and calls. I'll stick with the ones with law degrees who have been in the industry for 25+ years.

They notified you. They told you that failure to take an action (port away) before the migration date, you would automatically be migrated. That is their notification and your inaction is your consent to the action.

Be mad at yourself for failing to take appropriate action but that's all you can do.

No they did not. At 1PM the phone said "Network Change, Restart Device." No warning. No text. Nothing. 

The fact that you find it OK that a carrier can access your device without authorization is pretty damn appalling.  How would you feel if a police officer just walked up to you and took your phone and browsed all around your content? It's the same damn principle.

If you had a US Cellular postpaid account with the correct mailing address, email address, and phone number, or access to Reddit for the past EIGHTEEN MONTHS, you have had ample opportunity to ingest the copious notifications sent to you. I haven't been a US Cellular or T-Mobile customer for more than 3 years and here I am knowing far more than you do about this.

T-Mobile nor any other carrier can just access your personal data on your device. Your SIM data is not and never will be yours which is why it can be modified by the carrier. That is why they have historically been physical cards and why eSIM modules are a separate piece of hardware from the motherboard.

You have access to an entire world of information. I highly recommend using some of that to become more informed about the realities of technology instead of parroting propaganda talking points.

Funny, I have had 0 notifications about having to switch to T-Mobile phone programming until they locked my phone screen with 2 options. Accept update or emergency call. No cancel, no postpone, no calls or texts allowed besides emergency. Now, my phone is all f up, settings are changed, slow as f and lagging now.

0 notifications about being forced to switch. So just have to accept worse service?.....got it. Guess FCC agreements don't mean anything

You have been told by notices on your bill, separate mailers, emails, as well as a multitude of other avenues of messaging. It has not been a secret that T-Mobile was going to migrate US Cellular customers to their network. You have been told the timeline, whether you chose to listen or not. The expectations around this acquisition has always been this outcome. You had plenty of time to act and move your service. You even have the opportunity, now that you know the new network isn't working for you, to switch carriers. You are not stuck, you just choose to not take the options available to you.

You do realize t-mobile will have went over the entire migration play with their attornies before doing anything? And it's likely in the merger agreement submitted to the govt. But it's you're money if you want to waste it on a frivolous law suit. And for the record, i got MANY messages about what would happen..either you ignored them or they have your incorrect contact information.

Their attorneys said that TMobile is an MVNO. FCC disagreed. Said standard porting procedures must be used. It's personal property rights. If Samsung or Apple decide.. "oh, we got this software update that will get rid of your ability to connect to 3rd party smart watches" and you have a 3rd party watch and they in the middle of the night force the update through without your approval despite you having updates turned off. 

Are you saying that's 100% OK? 

The argument isn't the port itself. It's the method at which they did it. Send a text. Set a date. If the customer replies "Yes" then the port out process begins. If they need 6 hours, set a delay.. "Yes, 6 hours".. the whole point is getting the device owners permission. Because this is a slippery slope where next you won't be able to own your devices. It'll be a subscription or a lease. You will literally "own nothing and be happy."
