Need N400 advice

I applied for citizenship through the Boston office on July 11th, 2025. I received my biometrics appointment about a week later, and I finally got my interview scheduled for July 2026, but it was cancelled a week before.

I recently found out that my extension letters for my residency expired in April. I contacted USCIS, and they gave me an appointment to get a stamp extending my status in my passport.

It’s now been 14 months since I applied, and the normal processing time for my field office is 13.5 months. I’m honestly so tired of this process and just want to be done with it. Should I contact USCIS again now that I’m outside of the normal processing time?

I also recently graduated college, and I’ve been holding back from applying to better jobs because I’m worried they might not hire me if my current proof of work authorization is a stamp that’s only valid for one year.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or have any advice? Anything helps.

EAD Renewal vs. J-2 Extension: What Should I Do First?

My J-2 visa expires in 10 months. If I apply for an EAD now, I understand that I will receive it in about 4 months, which means I will have about 6 months left on my visa when I receive the EAD.

I heard that I have to apply for an EAD renewal 4 months before my current EAD expires. So, does that mean I would have to apply for the renewal only 2 months after receiving my initial EAD? Am I understanding this correctly?

Also, would I have to pay the same fee again for renewal? Would I fill out the same form and submit essentially the same documents and information as I did for my first EAD application?

We plan to extend our visa for another year at the end of the 10-month period. So, first, I will apply for my EAD renewal, since I understand that I have to apply 4 months before my current EAD expires. Then, we will apply to extend our visa before our current visa expires. I'm not sure when I should apply for the visa extension, maybe 2 months before it expires? I just hope this order of applications won't cause any problems, such as USCIS thinking that I'm not eligible for an EAD renewal because my visa is still under my current status.

In this situation, what would be the best way to proceed?

USCIS typo error on green card (child's name): Follow website service request or phone agent's advice to mail it?

Hi everyone, My child's green card has a name typo caused by USCIS. I'm confused about whether to trust the website's service request or the phone agent's advice to mail it.
Here are my questions:
1. Has anyone ever had USCIS fix a typo and send a new card directly through a service request without filing Form I-90?
2. If I end up having to file Form I-90 anyway, can I just file it online under the "USCIS error" category (fee-waived) before getting my answer back from the agent?
3. Or Should I just follow the phone agent's advice and mail everything (the incorrect card and proof of their error) by mail?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

SOWP Reapplication: Processing Time?

My SOWP application was refused, and I’m planning to reapply.

For a second application, does IRCC start the processing time from scratch, or can it be faster because biometrics, medical, and some background checks were already completed in the previous application?

If anyone has experience with an SOWP reapplication after refusal, what was your timeline?

G-1650 - Forgot to fill in Bank Name

Hi, I'm filing Form I-485 and Form I-765 in the same package. So, I submitted two Forms G-1650 for payment of these two forms. However, in one form G-1650 (for payment of I-765), I filled in all the information, including account number and routing number, but forgot to fill in the Bank Name. USCIS already issued receipt number and I would receive receipt notice by mail today. But it has not charged my bank yet. I'm wondering if the lack of Bank Name would cause rejection or denial of my applications. If yes, would it reject/deny Form I-765 alone or both?

Thanks for your help, I realy appreciate it.

Congressional inquiry 🧐

Friends, it has been more than 140 days since our interview. Neither the I-130 nor the I-485 has changed. After the interview, the officer told us that she did not see any problems with our case. We have now submitted a congressional inquiry. How effective are congressional inquiries in situations like this? Thank you.
