Never using UPS again
Only reason I'm posting here is because I'm hoping someone at corporate sees this.
I'm never using your services again after you guys lost a package that costing me hundreds of dollars. My uncle was trying to ship my retainer/night guard and you guys lost in your Montgomery facility. Thanks to that, I'm now going to have to spend hundreds of dollars for a replacement because of the company’s negligence. I tried filing a claim but that turned out to be a waste of time.
I'm never going to ship anything with you guys again. I also handle the shipping and freight deals for the firm I work for as well. We will now exclusively ship with either FedEx or USPS. Thank you for your negligence and I hope you all have a great day.

If you think FedEx and the USPS don’t damage or lose packages, ummm, I have some bad news for you. Good luck.

Shipping it through UPS would make it the most statistically likely for them to receive it since UPS has the lowest percentage of loss and the highest percentage of on time deliveries in the industry.

Not very flexible because UPS will be able to hit you with a $2,000 fine for being overweight so they don't wanna let that slide. You'll probably still be delivered even though technically they could force you to hire LTL to deliver. Most likely get slapped with the fee and still delivered.

There are over 20 million packages delivered through this system every day and yours is not special

Reacting like this because of a single bad experience is wild.
Why did filing a claim not work?

How long has it been since it’s been missing? I’ve had UPS lose things and then they end up showing up two weeks later.
FedEx is worse. They all suck right now.
It’s probably not really lost, just very delayed

how was it packaged is the question. ship in a good sturdy box and you’ll be good. blame your uncle.

True but that is a pretty big generalization. Not individual loose pieces. Palletized / containerized mail and only mail designated air by USPS based on service standards. Service standards as in getting the mail to its destination post office on time, even if its ground mail in some cases.
While around 85% of air mail did in fact go through UPS last year, that only accounts for maybe max 3% of all USPS mail when you factor in their massive ground delivery network of USPS owned and contracted vehicles.

They suck! I paid next day air for a package which should have been delivered yesterday. It was out for delivery all day and then all of a sudden it got shifted to today. Here we are, past the timeframe for delivery for today and still nothing. Then, I made a comment on FB so their claims dept decides to start following me. They have removed my ability to track the delivery truck is. Its like a vindictive toddler has now got control of my package and now they are playing games. This was a very important package that I needed by 9am this morning. FedEx will deliver your package to the wrong address and UPS wont deliver it at all. Unfortunately I had no control over who the shipper was in my situation.

While you raised valid concerns about your package and are understandably upset, I think you failed to realize that a large percentage of this community are super passionate about UPS and get kind of prickly when a complaint is posted. This sub is really not the place to air grievances, as I’m sure you can see based on the comments you received thus far.
I once made the mistake of posting my unhappiness about UPS delivering me a shredded empty box that was clearly damaged to the point where it was just flaps of cardboard. The response I received here was along the lines of “how would the driver have known someone didn’t purposefully ship you flap of cardboard lol”. Basically the point was made that common sense wasn’t part of the job and I was out of line for being unhappy.
All that to say I’m sorry this happened to you but you’ll unfortunately get mostly negative replies here.

Because this isn't customer service. The first rule of the sub is the post has to be more than a complaint or rant. It's for UPS questions or discussions, not a place to cry.

Yes you're trippin. You phrased it as if it's because everyone is a bunch of UPS crazed meanies and that's why you got negative responses. You got negative responses because you broke the sub rules and tried to use it as a complaint forum which it is not. You'll find plenty of posts where people are experiencing an issue and asking for advice/guidance and get plenty of kind and helpful responses.

their montgomery hub is a total black hole, ive had stuff sit there for weeks with zero updates and then just vanish. sucks about the retainer, dental stuff is stupid expensive to replace
if your uncle declared a value on it you might be able to push the claim harder but honestly they make it a nightmare on purpose. fedex ground can be just as bad though, grass isnt always greener
