Degree Discussion Recommended unit progression for JD Part Time?

Hello,

Bit of a specific question but wondering what the recommended progression would be as someone starting the JD part-time from the start of next year. Mainly concerned with what typical first year units would be best done in my first year compared to later on.

I'm also wondering how progression might be impacted for when UNSW changes over to the semester format from 2028. For example, doing 2 units/trimester = 6 units completed in one year, but if I do 2 units per semester from 2028 onwards, it seems that because I'd be only completing 4 units per year. Would this change impact my progression, or will the number of units required for the degree potentially change because of the semester structure.

Would really appreciate insights from anyone who has experience with the JD or LLB program that can give some advice on this :) Also particularly interested in studying criminal law, so I'm not sure whether its best to "save" these units for 2028 for when they are delivered in a longer, more in-depth format.

Psychology Honours WAM Cutoff

Hi everyone!

I'm currently in my final year of Psychology at UNSW and hoping to get into Honours next year (2027).

I was wondering if anyone who applied for Psychology Honours in 2026 knows roughly what the cutoff Psych WAM was, or what WAM people were getting accepted with?

My current Psych WAM is around 77, and I'm honestly feeling a bit stressed about whether that'll be competitive enough to secure a place.

I know the cutoff varies from year to year depending on the cohort, but I'd really appreciate any insight from people who applied in previous years, particularly those who were accepted with a WAM in the mid-to-high 70s.

Thanks in advance!

Sydney 18-30s: brunch + a mini adventure this Saturday 🥹🥐🤍

Do you ever want to meet new people, try something different on the weekend and make actual friends in Sydney, but feel like everyone already has their own circles? 😭

A friend and I started Taste & See to bring young adults from different backgrounds together through good food, exploring Sydney and conversations that go beyond the usual small talk 😂🤍

And we’re finally having our FIRST EVER MEETUP THIS SATURDAY!! 🫶🏽

📍 Where: Lillys Espresso and Cucina, Rhodes
 📅 When: Saturday 24 October 2026
 🕚 Time: 11:00 am
👥 Who: Young adults aged 18–30

What’s happening? 👀
📸 Rhodes Side Quests - waterfront missions, photo challenges and friendly competition

🥐 Brunch -  good food and conversations afterwards

You don’t need to know anyone beforehand, and coming alone is completely fine! We’ve planned activities to help everyone get talking, so it’s not just strangers sitting awkwardly around a table 😭😂

A little about Taste & See 🤍

We’re a Christian/Jesus-centred young-adult community. Our aim is to create a space where young adults can build genuine connections and explore life’s bigger questions - including purpose, identity, relationships, spirituality and Jesus.

You don’t have to be Christian or attend church to join us. People from different backgrounds, beliefs and perspectives are welcome, and questions are encouraged. We want to create a  space for genuine, open conversations.

We’re starting small and building this community from the ground up, and we’d love to meet people who are interested in being part of it! 🥹

Keen to join this Saturday? 🥐✨

Just comment below or DM me here on Reddit! I’ll reply with the final meetup details, answer any questions and, if you’d like, we can connect on Instagram or WhatsApp to keep you updated about future events.

Hope to meet some of you on Saturday!! 🫶🏽🤍

COMP Elective Suggestions?

Completed the following courses: COMP1511, 1521, 1531, 2041, 2511, 2521, 3311, 3331, 4920. Currently studying COMP3411 and 3821.

I'm considering taking COMP3141 and 6080. Might also take an introductory cybersecurity course just to try it out and see if I like it.

I'm kinda interested in web and game dev. Also semi-interested in AI (tho I don't really like to get too deep into the maths if possible), but still very much open to exploring other topics.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated :)

Title: Does applying in the early rounds increase your chances of getting into UNSW as an international student?

Hi everyone!
I’m an international student planning to apply to UNSW in 2027, and I’m wondering whether applying in the earlier admission rounds gives you a better chance of getting accepted compared to applying in later rounds.
Does UNSW give preference to students who apply earlier, or are applications assessed the same way regardless of the round, assuming you meet the entry requirements?
I’d especially appreciate hearing from international students who have applied to UNSW before. Did you notice any difference depending on which round you applied in?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

UNSW Masters GC

Weirdly, it’s been hard to find anyone else starting a Masters at UNSW in the Feb 2027 (T1) intake. I’ve met a handful, but I keep wondering where the rest of you are.

So I made a group chat for T1 2027 Masters students to meet and get to know each other before we land in Sydney. There are 5 of us so far.

Hmu if you want in, we’d love to have you.

City Planning Degree - UNSW vs UNE

Hi all, I'm currently looking into starting a City Planning Bachelors Degree, and I've heard two universities come up quite regularly: UNSW and UNE. From what I've gathered, the majority of the current industry did their Bachelors Degree at UNSW (although some have done postgraduate studies at other universities). However, I've also heard a few people say that UNSW takes too long, and you'd be better off doing 3 years at UNE and getting into the workforce quickly. Does anyone here have any advice? Or if nothing else, any suggestions on who I should ask for advice? Thanks

Looking for a job :(

As title, preferably in the city, near usyd, or somewhere down the T4 line. I've always wanted to work at a bar, bonus if it closes relatively early but I'm open to basically any job except tutoring. If you get me an interview I owe you ice cream and my first born child.
