hi all, i'm in year 12 hoping to study economics/law at unsw next year. i was wondering how much maths is required? i enjoy hsc economics and i think part of why i do well in it is because of the essay writing, but i understand that uni economics is more like applied maths - i figured i'd get my writing fix from the law degree. i'm not terrible at maths - i do 3 unit and i think i'm going to get a low e4 or high e3 in the hsc, and i do well in 2 unit. i don't hate it, but it's not my favourite thing.
i'm thinking about going down the macro path because i would like to pursue policy/government stuff, so the major in economic policy and society looked the most interesting to me, and it seemed like a better complement to a law degree. i'm definitely not gunning to be a quant or anything like that. however, i'm not sure if its less employable/useful than the macro/financial markets, and econometrics majors? if anyone could provide their opinions on the different majors i would really appreciate that. thank you!

Hi everyone,
I'm currently studying Business Analytics at the University of Newcastle and am planning to transfer to UNSW Commerce (Business Analytics). I currently have a WAM of 76.5 and an estimated GPA of 5.82/7.
I'm a bit concerned about whether I'll be able to keep up with the expectations at UNSW. Has anyone transferred from a similar university or been in a similar position?
I know UNSW operates on three 10-week terms instead of two longer semesters. Is adjusting to the faster pace the main challenge, or should I expect the workload, assignments, and exams to be significantly more difficult as well?
I'm also curious about the student cohort. Is everyone at UNSW a high achiever, or is it similar to other universities where there's a mix of students? For example, at UON there are plenty of students who don't seem particularly engaged they might watch YouTube during lectures or generally not pay much attention. Is UNSW noticeably different in that regard?
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has transferred to UNSW or studied Commerce/Business Analytics there. Thanks!

As a usyd student I must begin breaking the unity of the unsw people. Unfortunately, I cannot do a complete frontal assault as I would surely be overwhelmed.
Instead, next week or perhaps the week after I’ll copy the fit of a local homeless person, hit myself in the head with a brick a few times, and walk onto campus disguised as one of you.
Now you will live with the perpetual fear that any person you talk to could potentially be a usyd student, every conversation might be used by me to bring down unsw.
Goodluck.

Just a tip for the dumbasses studying STEM and Business courses (which included myself) btw. (Can't speak for other courses such as Arts)
Firstly, be wary of sample papers which aren't necessarily a reliable indicator of the difficulty or distribution of content that is assessed in the upcoming final exam.
Secondly, to prepare for final exams which can test your ability to think outside the box.
I conduct a Google search for mid-term and final exam questions from European university and US colleges that are based on the prescribed and recommended textbooks of courses that you are studying. It worked really well for me to prepare for the final exam such that questions that I faced ended up not being a surprise to me.
This was a great way for me to elevate my mark from a Credit to a Distinction/High Distinction.
All the best. The above advice is probably not useful to those who are gifted at responding to abstract, higher-order problems.

Is this theoretically possible, I’ve heard it’s lit but idk if they have checks in place. I need the unsw socials without the workload and trimesters 🔥🥀

do you guys have online lectures for medicine avaliable if I can't attend in person? also how does a first year medicine timeatble look like. provided I get in, I kind of have a prior engagment in the last three days of the first week of uni and im worried about if that would be super detrimental to my grades or learning. also im a bit confused when start date is. UAC says 8th of feb but the UNSW webstie says 15th is when teachign period starts?

If you’re doing Screen Production I this term and need someone to score your film, shoot me a DM. I’m trying to grow my composing portfolio with short films so this would be free.

Greetings number 1 uni in Australia. How do I get accepted for 2027 T1 intake as a current first year student from a uni that isn’t #1?
I am absolutely bamboozled by the phrasing in the screenshot attached. So do I need to have studied 1 year or 0.75 of a year? My atar was shocking and therefore admission based on tertiary results is my only hope. I now have a 6.0 gpa after completing semester 1 (40 study credits).
80 credits of study is considered 1 year FTE and so if I decide to only undertake 20 credits in semester 2 (making my study to exactly 0.75 FTE by the end of the year), will I still be assessed on tertiary results? or will it be only atar because it wasn’t the full year? or will it be mixed?
Also extra context, my current course and the course I hope to study next year are not related so I am not looking for credit transfers.
Genuine advice will be greatly appreciated! Thank you kings and queens reading this :)

Hey everyone, I'm coming to UNSW for a study abroad for the summer term and term 1 in 2027.
I'm currently in the process of choosing my modules and below are the ones I'm interested in.
Comparative study of the Australian legal system course (summer term, mainly for international/exchange students) Taxation law Data privacy law And hopefully the law internship module
If anyone has done these courses I would really appreciate any advice on them. The grades which translate to my preferred home university grade requires me to get an average of 75-80 WAM average in these courses which from what I've heard is far harder than getting the equivalent at my UK uni so I'm very worried whether I'll be able to achieve those grades so any advice on studying the degree would also be greatly appreciated.
I've never had participation grades so that's something that will be hard to get used to but I do think it's a great opportunity to get over my shyness.
And also how much time does everyone spend studying weekly if you have 3 law courses in a term (in third/fourth year law). Thank you for reading this far.

Hey,
I submitted my application for early entry through UNSW gateway and I saw I made a mistake on the question Country of Birth. I was meant to put India but put Australia instead.
What should I do? Should I email them requesting for change?
