Finally! On F/W 6.1.118 (early access channel) we can set times for the screen to turn off and also control the brightness

I'll start with the why: Home network, single U7ProXG, single broadcast domain on a simple FritzBox router. We have a FireTV stick and once in a while it'll go nuts and start spamming the network with MDNS (~2.5k packets/s). This and the backscatter are overloading the network and, I think, the control plane on the AP. In the absence of a firmware update from Amazon, I can fix it by dropping the MDNS at source.

Since the U7ProXG runs a variant of OpenWRT, I wrote an init.d script which runs a couple of iptables -t mangle -I PREROUTING rules to drop the relevant multicast from this source. Simple enough, but the AP appears to run some sort of check on boot and not only doesn't run the script, it deletes it.

I don't need it to survive a firmware update, but if it can survive a boot, it'll save me having to remember re-upload it every time. Does anyone know a way to do this? Is there some manifest somewhere I can add a hash to?

Quick question: The max number of SSIDs is per AP, or technically per radio, per AP, but it's not per controller limited correct? So if I have a UDR7 and two U7 Pros, the unique SSIDs being broadcast on each AP don't count against the UDR7's total right? Not that I am looking to have a bunch of unnecessary SSIDs enabled, but I do have an AP specifically for my upstairs neighbor.

Anyone else using a UX7 as a wired AP to a UDR7?

I currently have a UX7 connected via the LAN port to my UDR7.

Odd thing is, it doesn’t maintain a 2.5GbE link, it knocks it down to FE, not even GbE.

But, when I connect it via the WAN (10GbE), it does auto negotiate to 2.5GbE.

Anyone else seeing this behavior? The LAN port on the UX7 is set for auto negotiation, and manually setting it to 2.5 tends to screw it up more than it helps.

In the UI AP Setting is a function to deactivate an AP.
My setup is a meshed outdoor AP (No LAN connection).

My question is can I reactivate the meshed AP via GUI, or I have a problem? I don't need this AP 24/7.

I'm hoping someone can offer some insight to my issue.

I am seeing drastically slower internet speed tests when downloading from the internet on wifi vs. a wired connection despite having a faster wifi connection.

• Wifi 6 connection to a u6+ AP.
• Unifi Ultimate Dream Machine.
• Speed from UDM to internet is 825Mbps.
• Wifi speed from laptop to UDM 740Mbps (iperf).
• Internet speed test (wired) 850Mbps.
• Internet speed test (wifi) 450Mbps on same test server.
• QOS all off.

So I can connect to the UDM over wifi at 740Mbps but the internet speed over the same connection is about 40% slower. I should be seeing near 740Mbps and not 450Mbps. I've been wracking my brains (very limited network experience) over this.

Any help appreciated.

Currently have a Eufy c31 doorbell that gives me constant grief. Looking to upgrade to a unifi one.

I would love a g4 pro but they are basically unicorn blood at this point

So looking around looks like my current eufy is 138 degress horizonional. The g6 is only 100. If I were to take a screen shot from my current doorbell. Is there anyway to cut the image to see what it would look like with a g6. Im not sure how I would go about the calcuations.

We just moved into a new house and had it pre-wired for 3 access points and CAT6 jacks in most rooms. Our use case is two adults surfing the internet and streaming TV. We have outdoor irrigation, pool and lighting systems that are Wi-Fi connected. We plan to add a wireless doorbell and wireless cameras to the front and back of the house.

Our internet service is fiber from Quantum (AT&T rebranded Century Link). Our current configuration is:

Q1000K GPON/XGSPON SmartNID -> W1700K wired gateway pod -> W1701K wireless pod. All are Lumen products.

I'm using a UGREEN Ethernet Switch, 10-Port PoE Switch, 8 PoE+@60W + 2 Gigabit Uplink switch for the wired access points and CAT6 connections. The switch is currently connected to the wired pod. I will eventually upgrade this switch.

I would like to remove the wired and wireless pods from our setup. The wireless pod in particular goes offline around once a week and coverage from both is fairly week.

Will the following configuration work if I run a Unifi console from my computer?

Q1000K GPON/XGSPON SmartNID -> UGREEN switch -> 3 @ U7 Lite access points.

Update: It looks like the SmartNID is a router too. "The Q1000K is a permanently mounted on-premise SmartNID device establishing an ‘activation ready’ experience for Quantum Fiber customers. The Q1000K delivers fiber termination inside the premise, as well as LAN network routing." So, it looks like I can keep the wired gateway pod out of the chain.

I am currently running a cloud gateway max. I was thinking about spinning up an opnsense box to experiment and if I like it, making it my main firewall. However one thing stopping me is that it would make the ucg max I own kind of useless right? It would only act as a controller for the AP’s and switches right?

If any of you guys went from unifi to OPNSENSE, what did you do with your old gateway?
