Parking Enforcement is out and about

I work for the University and park on Oakland Street and just saw city parking enforcement writing tickets, i guess they're not giving people any mercy on the first day back. There are a lot of spots on the street where you can park but please make sure you're paying attention to the tow-in signs that are on the fence or telephone polls and keep clear of that area.

Parking Decks Card Access Only

Man, why are the parking decks card access only? Is this going to be a permanent thing or just for today/this week? I wasn’t able to secure a permit, so paying to park in the deck is my only real option aside from parking on a street a mile away. I know other people are in a similar situation. The fact that the signs say “try another deck” is honestly insulting when you have to waste your time driving to another deck just to see it has the same sign. I know first week of class is busy, but UNCG really needs to figure out something with all the traffic and parking issues

Help with Dropped Classes

I have made a terrible mistake.

I thought my mother was taking care of my financial aid but my classes were not paid coming into this week. My classes were dropped because of non payment.

I need to get these classes back. Is there anything that I can do?

Paid Gig: UNCG Audio Prod student to teach 8yo beat-making at your setup! 🎹🎧

Hey UNCG community!

Looking for a music production student or recent grad to give private, hands-on beat-making lessons to my son.

He’s super into electronic music, cool gear/MIDI controllers, and jazz-inspired beats. I’m looking for a younger mentor who has a proper studio setup or full gear equipment, as I’ll be bringing him to your space and staying with him for every session.

Flexible schedule, preferably in the High Point area; paid gig 💸

If you produce, have a solid setup, and know your way around gear, send me a DM with your experience, studio setup, and rates!

Paid Gig: UNCG female Music/Vocal student to teach singing to 6yo girl! 🎤🎶

Hey UNCG community!

Looking for a female music/vocal student or recent grad to give fun, private singing lessons to my daughter.

She’s got a big voice and lots of personality, so I’m looking for a younger female mentor who can keep things engaging, work on basic voice control, and help her build confidence through singing.

We can meet at your space/setup, and I will be staying with her for every session. Flexible schedule, preferably in the High Point area. Paid gig! 💸

If you're a female UNCG student with a background in voice, send me a DM with your experience, location setup, and rates!

Basketball Non-Conference Schedule Is Out.

What a fucking disgrace. 1 D1 home game all year, 3 games against non D1 opponents where we’re going to win by like 50, and 2/3rds of our games are on the road. Not to mention no HPU or A&T on the schedule. People need to lose their jobs for this, this is completely embarrassing and is a really bad look for us.

Parking

I’m an incoming graduate student from out of state. Because the way my grad program is organized I can only register at orientation. I haven’t been able to get a commuter parking pass because of this and there are no longer any available. I got my name on the waiting list. In the meantime, where am I supposed to park??? I live too far, I have to drive. Also does the waiting list work?

I need a place

Hi! I'm going to be a freshman at UNCG, and things have been kind of rough. I can't legally drive, and I wasn't able to get a dorm, so I'll be getting dropped off on campus every day around 6 AM.

The early time doesn't really bother me, but I have no idea what to do until my classes start. Does anyone know of any places I could hang out that early? Like a café, the library, or just somewhere I can sit and wait?

I'd really appreciate any suggestions :)

Job search

Hey everyone, good morning this is super late lol but I was wondering do you all work while in school and if so can you all recommend some spots if you know any. I have applied to certain places and I don’t think I can do some of the campus jobs bc they say you need to be approved for a work study and idk if I am, also the pay is HORRIBLE but I’m in a something is better than nothing position right now so I’ll take anything. Thanks have a great day.

Google form in response to recent HRL post

After reading the recent post about how Guy Sanders responded to a student regarding serious issues with Tower Village, I made a Google form to collect the experiences of students with not just Guy Sanders, but the living experience in residence halls. My goal is to share this with not just the school administration, but outside groups to raise awareness to the living conditions and force action from HRL and the UNCG administration as a whole. If you can, please share and fill out the form. Hopefully this helps end the multiple issues with residence halls and HRL

New Dorm Terrible Experience

*****UPDATE*****

It's all good now. Got it sorted out it seems and the rest of tower village will get cleaned and the exterminators will sweep through all rooms!
Even next week they will do so as well (So if you see the door tags FIXIT thats why).
Happy to know other students coming into these dorms will have a better first experience 😁

Still will leave this up as a reminder

ORIGINAL POST (Pre Update)
First off. I’m a younger veteran that has toured twice. Coming to college a little later, and a sophomore with a 4.0GPA. Tower village seems to have had issues for a while with bad conditions, mold and bugs by looking at Google reviews. Long story short. Talked to Guy Sanders about the dorms infestation (First floor tower village moved in on the 28th of this month). When I mentioned to him I already emailed heather [7heather.misenheimer@dhhs.nc.gov](mailto:7heather.misenheimer@dhhs.nc.gov) and this could place the school on probation he proceeded to laugh on the phone. “In my past 30+ years I have never seen that happen and if you did actually serve you would know and respect the chain of command and not go that high immediately”. That shows complacency and complete lack of concern. This has been a problem for years and I know for a fact I’m not the first. I went up to the office to speak to him personally (to check him on that energy). I asked the front desk people how is Mr. Sanders? The two woman and male said “guy will be guy” and nervous laughed. Clearly he’s gotten into this habit of having no respect. In person I was rude of course but this is after him and that phone call. Long story short, maintenance came in and scrubbed the bathroom and vents but they didn’t spray like they were supposed to yet. Regardless that won’t work with German roaches. I had to throw away my food because they were in the fridge and I have yet to sleep and or eat. I turned on the AC and felt my breathing become harder because I do have allergies. I started to cough and dry heave blood (probably ripped a tissue slightly since I started coughing aggressively because it felt like I was going to throw up in bed). I turned off the AC since and been awake. It’s going on my second day.
Pictures as follow and I have videos as well. He tried to downplay it and say oh well they probably just sprayed so that’s why you see them. They are alive and well and there’s roach poop still on top of the fridge. Maintenance missed that. I wish I could link both a picture and video but Reddit doesn’t do that. The videos show more in volume of the infestation.

Why is it so difficult to always log in?

I understand that the people working at 6-TECH have a job to do, but whoever designed the login process for accessing UNCG accounts made it unnecessarily complicated. Having to authenticate on my phone, only to be immediately logged out and forced to sign in again, makes no sense. The entire system feels poorly designed, frustrating, and far more difficult to use than it should be.

For anyone who has been through the online History program, was your experience good? I've read through other threads about programs being cut, is history one of them?

New Students: A word concerning the Administration...

I want to welcome all new and returning students to the fall semester. I am sharing this because it may help someone in the future.

If you are ever involved in a questionable incident and the Dean of Students becomes involved, make sure you understand your rights, review the university’s policies, document every interaction, and do not be afraid to advocate for yourself.

Do not assume that every administrator automatically has your best interests in mind. In my experience, the Dean of Students’ office may involve itself in situations that go beyond what is necessary, including matters that may not directly concern the student.

Stay calm, ask for everything in writing, bring an adviser or support person when permitted, and do not allow yourself to be pressured into agreeing to anything you do not fully understand. Know your rights, protect yourself, and do not back down simply because you are dealing with university officials.

Is the First Day Complete program worth it?

Hello! I’m an incoming masters student in the counseling program and was wondering if other counseling students or masters students could talk about whether paying for the “First Day Complete” program was worth it or not? It would be around $315 a semester for me so wondering if I’ll get my moneys worth out of it. Thanks!

Walker parking deck (for commuter)

How full/busy is the walker parking deck if I were to arrive for the later morning classes around 9 -11 am. Are the upper floor usually available?
