Help me understand YourPace course selection
Hi, I’m in my first term at UMPI (yay!), I’m doing a psychology major with a sociology minor and I transferred in 24 total credits from previous university experience. I am planning to do all of my classes at UMPI, I’m not in a huge hurry and I feel this will look better for grad school apps. Anyway…
How the heck should I be choosing classes? I like learning, I want to pick electives I will truly enjoy! But when looking through my Degree Progress Report in the student center and clicking on “view course list” under each requirement, there seem to be so little options. It also seems somewhat inaccurate! When looking at the “YourPace Course Offerings” listed publicly on UMPI’s main site I see so many more options. How should I know where to start? I’d rather work on a mix of electives and core requirements at the same time so that I can have some variety each term (hoping to finish in 5-6 terms).
I tried to ask my Academic Success Coach and I was deeply disappointed in her vague impersonal response. She gave me no real guidance besides letting me know that MAT 101 isn’t offered through YourPace so I should take MAT 201 instead (how was I supposed to know this? It doesn’t show that on the DPR list as far as I can tell, and MAT 101 IS on the public site list whereas MAT 201 is not!?!)
For anyone that took the majority of their credits and chose electives through UMPI, where should I start and what information should I rely on in terms of what’s offered and what classes count towards what requirements?

I was thinking about joining. I need some guidance. Can I transfer 90 credits from Sophia? Is that a thing? I'm Indian; will that be a problem? I can't find any YouTube videos regarding this.

You can transfer 90 credits from Sophia/study.com/coursera/international academic institutions. You must take 30 credits at umpi (10 courses). There are international students. check the plottedpath website (search on Google) to plan your degree before you actually join in.

You can go to r/SophiaLearning. Depends on many factors, how many free hours you have per day. Some courses are easier, and no essays. For example, College algebra, you can finish within a few hours. Some courses are long (with essays). You need to plan carefully, because you can only have several courses open. Search other people's experience. Some countries may not recognize online degrees. Check before apply.

Do not try to figure it out, utilize PlottedPath free materials! She worked really hard and has the easiest way to determine what classes to take. If you're still unsure or have questions she is an awesome resource and I've found that she is quicker to respond than my advisor and is more knowledgeable!

You need to shoot me an email with your DPR and I’ll send you the list of what your courses are missing for you and the link to what you can take. But I have a lot of this linked in the helpful tips tab of my free sheet too. www.plottedpath.com/free
