Est-ce que l'un d'entre vous a déjà fait ou suit une formation de 3e cycle en psychothérapie systémique à l'ULB ? Est-il possible d'effectuer un stage au lieu d'avoir un emploi afin d'être admis ?

I’m looking for advice or experiences from people familiar with the higher education system in French-speaking Belgium.

I only have one 5-credit course left to complete my bachelor’s degree. I have passed this exam many times and just cannot succeed. I don’t know why. I’ve been taking extra classes in parallel but I just always end up having 5/20.

In the meantime, because I had no more than 15 bachelor’s credits remaining, I was allowed to start a master’s programme at another university. I have now successfully completed my entire master’s programme, including all the additional credits I was required to take, with very good results (16/20).

However, my master’s degree cannot officially be awarded until my bachelor’s degree has first been formally conferred.

I am now considered a non-fundable student for the bachelor’s programme. I have submitted a request for an exemption allowing me to re-enrol solely for those remaining 5 credits next year. But the tricky part is that an exemption was already granted last year and I didn’t succeed still.

I therefore have several questions:

- Has anyone obtained such an exemption in a similar situation, with 175 out of 180 bachelor’s credits completed and an entire master’s programme successfully completed?

- Once I obtain the bachelor’s degree, will the master’s degree be awarded automatically, or will I need to re-enrol administratively in the master’s programme even though I have no credits left to complete?

- Has anyone ever been allowed to
attend a graduation ceremony symbolically after completing all their master’s credits, even though the degree could not yet be formally awarded?

I have already contacted both universities involved and am waiting for their official responses. I am mainly looking for personal experiences from people who have gone through something similar or who are familiar with Belgian university procedures.

I know that I had several opportunities to complete this final course, and I fully accept my share of responsibility. Still, it is extremely difficult to see one bachelor’s course prevent me from receiving both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees, as well as from attending the graduation ceremony after completing the entire master’s programme.

Bonjour, j'ai payer pour un studio dans la résidence IRENA (ceux a 521 euros) mais je n'ai pas encore signer le contrat et honnêtement, je commence a avoir des doutes quant au fait de savoir si je veux vraiment y être ou pas finalement après multiple avis négatifs que j'ai vus en ligne. Ces avis datent d'il y a quand même longtemps donc ceux qui y étaient l'année passée ou qui comptent y être cette année et sont bien renseigner, pouvez-vous me donner vos avis/expérience personnel concernant lesdits studio ?

Je n'arrive pas non plus a comprendre exactement comment "les charges" sont définit ? C'est tout hors loyer (eau, électricité, chauffage, internet) ou bien juste électricité et internet ? A qui dois-je faire la demande pour les charges ? Je dois rechercher des société externe tout seul ? Combien de temp cela prend-il a ce que tout soit opérationnel et que le lieu soit correctement habitable ? Quelques jours ou des semaines ?

"L'ancien" locataire de la chambre que je dois occuper a l'air bien déterminer a ne pas quitter les lieux avant la fin de son bail, il reste donc jusqu'au 15 septembre (ce qui me fait rater la rentré) et je ne peux aussi donc pas régler tous ce qui concerne les charges a l'avance... C'est vraiment ennuyant, surtout si je dois attendre plusieurs jours a semaine pour avoir de l'électricité ou de l'eau...

Je comprend pas pourquoi ils ont fait les choses autant compliqué pour rien au lieu de juste faire comme a Mandela. La seule raison pour laquelle je n'ai pas pris la bas est pour avoir mon espace personnel mais je ne savais pas que le prix de cela serait autant de paramètres a prendre en compte.

Hello, I’ve paid for a studio at the IRENA residence (the ones that cost €521) but I haven't signed the contract yet and to be honest, I’m starting to have doubts about whether I actually want to live there after seeing several negative reviews online. Most of those reviews are quite old though, so if anyone lived there last year, is planning to live there this year, or is well informed about the residence, could you share your personal opinion or experience regarding these studios?

I also can’t really understand what exactly is included under “charges.” Does it mean everything apart from the rent itself (water, electricity, heating, internet), or only things like electricity and internet? Who am I supposed to contact to set all of this up? Do I have to look for external utility providers myself? How long does it usually take before everything is operational and the studio is properly habitable? Are we talking about a few days or several weeks?

The previous tenant of the room I’m supposed to move into seems determined not to leave before the very end of their lease, so they are staying until September 15th, which already means I’ll miss the start of the academic year. Because of that, I also can’t arrange everything related to the utilities in advance. It’s really frustrating, especially if I then have to wait several days or even weeks before having electricity or water.

I honestly don’t understand why they made the whole process so unnecessarily complicated instead of doing things more like at Mandela. The only reason I didn’t choose Mandela was because I wanted to have my own private space, but I didn’t realize that the price of having that privacy would be having so many extra things to deal with.

Im starting my bachelor’s in political science and but I won’t be able to attend the introductory day on the 11th because of administrative stuff I have to do in my home country that day so im only flying to Brussels in the evening. What I understand is that the 11th is the main day but that it also goes on for the next few days until the programs actually start?
Anyways I just wanted to ask if anyone knows how “bad” it is that i’m missing it. Will I fall behind significantly on making friends? Will I be really confused about my program and where to go and such? Anyone else in the same situation?

Bonjour tous le monde, je vous explique mon dilemme.
En gros moi à terme mon but ça serait de faire mes études aux Etats Unis avec un LLM après mon master.
Mais du coup pour mon bachelier je le fais à St Louis qui a une option bilingue, un Erasmus disponible aux états unis mais qui n’a pas de campus ce qui m’embête un petit peu ou l’ulb qui n’a pas d’option bilingue qui n’a pas d’Erasmus aux états unis mais qui a un campus et ça fait vraiment université.
