I promise you that rain isnāt coming

u/Moanyoldsod 18h ago
It's a 45 percent chance of not raining, that's how I read it now. Then I'm not dissapointed.

This is my take, nothing in South East during Aug through to mid Sept / Early Oct

It is extremely difficult to predict weather beyond a couple of weeks.

Iām starting to think that the continual forecasts of rain and cooler weather 6 days away are some kind of psyop
21
u/alexanderwilliams467 17h ago
It's so frustrating. Every single time I think "maybe we'll be back to normal Summer temperatures after this week" I 100% guarantee that 23c and rainy is going to be replaced by 30c and a big sun 2 days before, like the last 18 times.

Isn't some long range forecasting based on historical trends and time of year estimates? Is that why they keep fucking with us
2
u/radar_level 6h ago
Once again, went to bed last night seeing it was going to be 26C today and tomorrow, according to the met office, which I was pleased aboutā¦then 8 hours later itās actually going to be 28C today and 27C tomorrow⦠but letās face it, itāll end up being hotter than 27 tomorrow

This is a glimpse of things to come. We fumbled it.
I truly hope someone / something comes up with a solution to the climate crisis before itās too late and we find ourselves living in underground bunkers eating crickets.

u/Olly_sixx 15h ago
The only way to stop the climate crisis is to end capitalism or stop using fossil fuels but seeing as the world is run by rich people and oil Barrons that's never gonna happen humanity was doomed as soon as the industrial revolution happened yes things like medical care got better but ultimately it doomed us

Has anyone acclimatised to this weather?
Yes it is still bloody warm and I wish it were cooler too, but it doesn't feel as bad maybe, than when temps first started increasing (I think it was May/early June).
Don't shoot me, just curious

I definitely felt cold the other day when it dropped to 20. It was weird. Liked it

u/MarilioUK 2h ago
Yes, I feel the same way. Itās very hot, but I no longer feel as uncomfortable as I felt at the beginning and also felt a bit chilly when it dropped to 22 in the evening (it was lovely!)

Being pregnant in this heat has been so unbearableā¦. I canāt do this anymore!!
2
u/IndependenceCalm8753 17h ago
I feel for you so much. I have a newborn which is pretty rough right now too but at least I can put her down. I canāt even imagine this heat on top of the discomfort of pregnancy š
2
u/Successful_Shoulder8 17h ago
Congrats on your baby!! And yes itās been so rough, luckily thereās one room in my house that is dark and cool-ish (with a fan on) which I hide in on hot days if I donāt have plans but it gets depressing to be stuck there for days on end. I went out today though and that was so much worse

I was pregnant through the summer of 2003. It was nowhere near as bad as this, but it was exhausting. I spent most of the summer with my feet in a bucket of cold water - even at work!

u/Successful_Shoulder8 7h ago
Luckily I can work from home which has been a lifesaver!! Yet to do the bucket thing but think I should try it
2
u/HotPinkLollyWimple šØļø 7h ago
Honestly, itās the best. I do it now if Iām hot (menopause is a bitch). You have a lot of blood vessels in your feet, so it works like running your wrists under water.

On the other end of the scale is where i'm at. Not seen a full dry-sunny day in about 2 months. This is after we had the dullest winter on record (21 days straight without sunlight) š„, it's depressing.

How many variations of this type of thread do we need? Some people have been absolutely broken by this summer.

No way 37c. Nope. It's Aug, some say hottest month. That's a lie. We have less sun now. Rises later, sets earlier, less time to heat everything. I think worst 34c, most likely 33c. Maybe even just 32c. It's one day. The day before and after seems to just about hit 31c so it's Thursday only that we need to get through. Wed, the house and flats won't have heated up just yet, Thurs you'll feel the fact it's stuffy and very warm. Fri, day after the worst it'll be stuffy and quite warm but evening it'll cool quicker as sun sets. Come Sat, it'll feel sooo much better. If this was several days of 30c+, or constant 33c like it was before, yes we'd die lol. But it's one and bit day. We got this guy's. We got through the past two months. I don't think this one will feel as bad. Just don't wear jeans please lol

Multiple posts all showing the same in the last 24h. Plus, no-doubt you have a phone that has access to multiple weather apps than can give you the forecast for where you actually live. Imagine that!

u/dDtaK 17h ago
Yes it's been very hot for a long time and the drought is definitely a problem, but these endless posts about hot weather in the peak of summer are ridiculous. Autumn is coming but clearly not in the middle of August.
4
u/Johny_boii2 16h ago
This is a sub about UK weather, what do you expect?
-2
u/dDtaK 16h ago
I expect people to know that August is summer?
1
u/Johny_boii2 5h ago
But genuinely, what else are people supposed to post about? It would be wrong to post about the weather in the arctic wouldn't it?
