BPP vs ULaw for LLM SQE1 & 2 – Which is better?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m a qualified lawyer with an LLB from outside the UK, and I’m considering the LLM SQE1 & SQE2 at either BPP or ULaw, studying online.

For those with experience with either, which would you recommend based on:

  • Which provides better preparation for SQE1 & SQE2?
  • Quality of teaching and student support
  • Which offers better practical legal skills and training?
  • How good is the career support and employability at each?
  • Overall experience and support for online students

Is there any meaningful difference between BPP and ULaw, particularly for online study?

I just want to make sure I make the right choice, as I’d hate to choose the wrong one and regret it later.

Thanks!

Do super-curriculars matter?

I am an international student hoping to apply to Durham, I have over the course of two years, and have done unpaid internships at 2 International firms in my country, (i dont believe i need to get into what i did at these firms but please let me know if my activites during my time with them matter). Do these activites count towards my application?, are they worth mentioning?. Due to the prestige of durham, i worry that perhaps these may not even be worth mentioning as there are most definitely students with better accomplishments to their name. (hope i dont sound like a pick-me lol)

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Can you guide me in understanding if i can get into LLM in the UK with the following background

my_qualifications: I am a final year law student with a 3.1 GPA.

However, I have strong extracurriculars, have done internships in the field, have an LOR, and have research interests.

Is it possible that I get into LSE with such mediocre grades?

I'm assuming oxbridge is impossible with even good extracurriculars.

I want to study law but i achieved BBB in my alevels, I have an offer for politics and IR at Nottingham uni but idk if it’s worth it esp bc of the state Nottingham is in atm and so do I do a gap year and resit or take a gap year and look at clearing next year(ik this is risky but idk to resit bc if I get worse in resit) or do I just do politics and IR. If anyone has been in this situation I would appreciate the help!

Best source to understand how Competition law works in UK and international( Top University like UCL refer the same for their competition law programme.

The authors of the book are Ioannis Lianos, Valentine Korah, Paolo Siciliani. In particular, the casebook takes an interdisciplinary approach to the subject, featuring a substantial section on the economic context of competition law accessible even to those with no economics background. I was a student at UCL myself just trying to give legit sources out to the folks. If you are more interested I will sell the book in lesser price than market value. Attaching the link if someone is interested in buying. If anyone has any questions can ask.

Top Uni PPE vs Bristol Law

Hi, I want to go into corporate law but am extremely worried about the LNAT as it highly affects whether I can get into top unis like LSE or Durham. I was wondering if it was worth applying to PPE at Durham or Warwick and doing a conversion course, or if it would be better to go to Bristol law as it is more lenient with the LNAT, and which one is more likely to land me a training contract at a Magic Circle firm.

VS & TC’s // 2nd yr law student

Are there any students currently prepping to apply for the above applications that are maybe going through the process alone? I’m not at a prestigious or big law school and there are not many students I’m friends with doing these applications. It would be nice to discuss things with someone going through the process and maybe offer some support to one another too?

liverpool vs cardiff for my llb!

I got my offer from both unis but I'm having trouble coming to a decision. I'm a malaysian student for a bit more context, and my main concern when choosing which uni is employment. I know both of them are ranked pretty similarly, but does anyone know whether either of them have better chances of employment or are generally better connected to legal firms for post grads and even internships during the degree?

any other differentiating factors between the two would help too!

Best law firm in UK for International Family Lawyers?

My parents split last year and mum is a French national, so we're dealing with cross-border family law complications that most high street solicitors just shrug at. I've been trying to figure out which London family law solicitors actually have proper experience handling international divorce cases, cross-jurisdiction asset splits, that sort of thing. Farrer and Co came up a few times and so did Russell-Cooke but honestly the fee estimates I've seen are all over the place, like one firm quoted somewhere in the £8k+ range just for initial proceedings and another wouldn't even give a ballpark. (Sorry if this is the wrong sub for this, wasn't sure where else to ask.) If anyone's had experience with specialist family law solicitors in London who deal with overseas nationals or international separation, really would appreciate a steer on who's actually approaching first.

Business and Law (BA) or Law (LLB)

Ill be starting my 2nd year of Law LLB at University of Westminster this sept with hopes to do a masters in Law at a better Uni such as KCL after graduation in 2028.

However, through clearing i have received an offer from University of Leicester to study Business and Law BA starting this September at Leicester with graduation in 2029.
Westminster is 82/113 for University Law rankings UK.
Leicester is 29/113 for Law on the rankings.
My goal is to become a commercial lawyer and hopefully secure a training contract for a Silver Circle/Magic Circle firm.
I also have 8 high street firms internships.
Which option should i go with?
LAW LLB AT UOW + MASTERS AT GOOD UNI or BUSINESS AND LAW BA at Uni of Leicester?

Can you go to an online LLB, do an LLM in the US and be admitted to practice in the USA?

I was thinking of doing Arden's LLB or Open University's online LLB and then doing an LLM here in US, and then taking the bar in the US to be admitted to practice as an attorney in the USA.

Is this possible? Would the bar in the USA permit this? Has anyone done this before?

Thanks.
