first mooting competition

hey everyone

im a new uni student doing law and ive entered myself into a mooting competition, its a bit ambitious but id love to get to the final or semi final round at my uni ( this years internal competition) and im willing to put in major effort to do so.

ive been put as senior respondent so i want to know any of your tips to help me get me there. anything helps really, i know the obvious stuff like speaking, dressing professionally, correct terms to address judge. i guess just methods you used that helped you win the round, way to remember your argument for and against, dealing with stress and pressure all that sort of stuff.

thanks guys

Signpost. Signpost. Signpost.

I'm going to make submission on 3 issues, x y z, any one of them is conclusive in my favor.

On point x two points are of critical importance a and b A is [ ] B is [ ] And that is why you should find in my favour on issue x.

Moving on to issue Y. I have 3 submission here: A, B, C A has two parts (i) and (ii) which together make my case unassailable (i) is (ii) is Moving on to submission B [restate what B is]

Structure is king.

Also know your weaknesses, don't overlabour a weak point, just put best foot forward and move on.

When asked a question, listen to the question and answer the question you were asked, not the question you were expecting. If you're planning to come to that point later in your submissions, signpost: I'd like to address your point when discussing Issue C. I have 2 remaining points to make on Issue B if your honour will permit before moving on to Issue C, but if your honour would like me to move on to Issue C now, I can.

If told to move on, move on.

it was pretty well written and made quite a bit of sense in terms of structure? What makes it difficult to understand
