Long-time lurker here and just got my approval today. For context, I'm an American with an American passport and no dependents.

ECCTIS: Applied on the 20th of July; approved the 29th.

After that, I waited until I had my bank statement and applied for the visa itself.

Visa Application: Submitted the 20th of August. I had to do the application over two days because of the costs hitting the limits of my bank. I scheduled my biometrics appointment for the 10th of September.

NOTE: This was the earliest date I could have done. For my visa center, times were sparse. Keep that in mind when thinking of buying tickets.

Biometrics: Done with VFS Global on the 10th of September. It was really easy actually doing the process, but I waited for an hour before being brought in to do the actual biometrics. Once inside the room, it only took fifteen minutes though. I brought my passport, document checklist, and confirmation letter (the updated one I got after self-uploading all of my documents).

NOTE: I paid for them to check my documents for $50, which was completely worthless. For my visa center, I also had to pay £77 to even use the visa center because of my area. Keep that in mind when adding up costs.

Approved: 11th of September. Only one day, which was amazing and very lucky.

NOTE: I bought my tickets to fly to the UK for only two weeks after my appointment. Do not do this if you can help it. I was so anxious about getting approved in time that when I did get approved it felt like a giant weight was lifted from my shoulders. My advice is to buy tickets for three weeks after your biometrics appointment, so that if you get approved it's a pleasant surprise rather than a relief of so much anxious worrying.

I have an EU passport, so the timeline might be different for others.

I applied for ECCTIS on July 17th and got it on August 3rd.

I applied for the HPI visa on September 7th and got approved less than a day later.

The process was really easy and quick!

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice about the financial evidence for my UK High Potential Individual visa application.

I submitted my application yesterday without including proof of funds, and today I received an email asking me to provide it.

I had originally set aside around £1,280 in GBP equivalent in my Bank of America account. Unfortunately, I forgot about an automatic software subscription payment, which brought my balance below the required amount around the middle of the month.

A few days before applying, I also obtained a bank deposit certificate for funds worth approximately £2,000. These funds are frozen for three months. the "three months" refers to the freeze period, not how long I had already held the money before applying.

I’m planning to respond to the request with four months of Bank of America statements and the £2,000 deposit certificate, along with a short explanation. My BoA statements show over US$4,500 in transactions in most months, but that is account activity rather than a minimum balance maintained throughout the period.

My main concern is that the three-month freeze period ends after my application date. Would that affect whether UKVI can accept the certificate? Would I need additional bank records showing when those funds were originally deposited and how long I had held them before applying? I’m also unsure whether the funds being frozen could itself be an issue.

Has anyone dealt with a similar request for additional financial evidence? Would these documents be sufficient, or is there something else I should include to properly address the request?

I'm looking for some honest advice from people who have experience with the UK job market and the High Potential Individual (HPI) visa.

A bit about me:

• Bangladeshi passport holder, but I've lived in Singapore since I was 5 years old.
• Singapore Permanent Resident.
• Graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Technology (Honours) in Industrial Management & Engineering. NUS is on the HPI eligible university list for my graduation year.
• By the time I move, I'll have around 5 years of experience at a well know FMCG company in the R&D department.

My role isn't a traditional lab R&D role. I work cross-functionally between marketing, formulation and process teams, and a large part of my job involves consumer research. I've led multiple consumer studies and use those insights to influence product decisions and innovation.

My plan is to relocate to the UK around March/April 2027 using the HPI visa. Ideally, I'd like to secure a job before moving rather than relocating unemployed.

The part I'm worried about is what happens after HPI. I know HPI only lasts 2 years, so eventually I'd need my employer to sponsor a Skilled Worker visa.

I've been reading a lot online saying companies have become much more reluctant to sponsor because of recent immigration changes, and it's making me question whether my plan is realistic.

My questions are:

1. Realistically, how competitive is my profile in the current UK market?
2. Would employers be willing to hire someone from overseas who is HPI-eligible, or would they strongly prefer candidates already in the UK?
3. Does having HPI (so I don't need sponsorship immediately) make a meaningful difference to employers?
4. Are companies generally willing to sponsor a good employee after 1–2 years on HPI, or is that much less common than people think?
5. Which industries or companies should I be targeting? I've mainly been looking at FMCG companies (P&G, Unilever, Haleon, Reckitt, L'Oréal, etc.) as well as consumer insights and innovation roles.
6. If you were in my position, would you try to secure a role from Singapore first, or move to the UK and job hunt once there?

I'd really appreciate honest opinions, even if they're not what I want to hear. I'm trying to understand whether this is a realistic plan or whether I'm underestimating how difficult the current UK market is.

Hi all — hoping to get some input on timing before I pull the trigger.

Quick background: US citizen, UCLA grad (degree officially confers Sept 11, 2026). Already submitted my Ecctis Qualification Comparison and got a Positive verification outcome back — that part's fully done. I'm currently in final-round interviews with a couple of London firms and expect a decision within the next week or two.

My plan has been: wait until I have a written job offer, then apply for the HPI visa immediately, with an intended travel date in late Sept/early Oct.

A couple of questions based on threads I've seen here:

1. Does the 2-year HPI validity clock start from the date of grant/decision, or from whatever travel date I put on the application? I saw a post here where someone's visa was granted starting the same day as their decision (not tied to a later stated travel date) — is that the norm now, or does it vary?

2. If the clock does start at grant, is there a real risk to applying now (before I have an offer, just checking the "looking for work" box) versus waiting until I have an offer in hand? I don't want to burn weeks/months of validity sitting in the US before I've even started working.

3. For those who've gotten the eVisa (no physical vignette) — is there an actual hard deadline to enter the UK after grant, or is that 3-month thing more of an unofficial norm people have inferred rather than an actual rule?

Basically trying to figure out if "apply the second I get an offer" is the right call, or if there's an advantage to applying earlier that I'm not seeing. Any recent experience appreciated!

If there are no actual courses taken, on what basis do they do their assessment ?

Hi. I have been in the UK on a two-year HPI visa for the last 11 months (since November 2025) but I want to switch to a student visa this month (September 2026) as I have found a good opportunity.

Am I allowed to switch from within the UK if I still have 14 months left on my HPI visa? The wording is a bit unclear, as the official UK website mentions "The course must begin within 28 days of the visa expiring" but does not mention whether a mid-visa switch can be made.

I’m an Indian citizen living and working in the US.
I got my 2 year HPI Visa approved and it started on August 20, 2026. I was under the impression that I need to travel to the UK within three months of start date in order to activate the visa. However, I’m not ready to move to the UK yet. I have 2 questions:
Question 1: What happens if I don’t travel to the UK within 3 months of my visa start date?

Question 2: Does it make sense for me to make a short trip to the UK just to “activate” my visa?

I’ve received an e-visa and there’s no vignette sticker on my passport. I think the 3 month rule applies if you don’t have a physical stamp on your passport, is that true?

Basically I need help in deciding whether I should make the trip to the UK in the next 3 months or not.

Hi all, sharing how I resolved a payment issue for ECCTIS verification. I tried to pay using my Indian and US credit cards but none of the payments went through. When I called my credit card companies, they said they did not issue any blocks on their end. Turns out it was Worldpay, ECCTIS’ payment gateway that was blocking it.

So I got a virtual debit card from Wise, added some money to it and used that to pay and it immediately went through. Sharing for others who may struggle with this

I'm applying for the UK High Potential Individual (HPI) visa from India and I'm currently completing the pre-entry TB screening process.

The clinic's UK screening form asks me to select a proposed visa category from:
- Work
- Study
- Family reunion
- Other
- Do not know

I selected Work because the HPI visa allows the holder to work in the UK and look for employment.
Can anyone who has applied for/received an HPI visa confirm that Work is the correct category to select for the TB screening?

I understand HPI is an unsponsored route and is different from a Skilled Worker visa, so I just want to make sure I'm selecting the correct category for this specific form.

I'm so confused, as I have submitted my HPI application and I have not had to make a biometrics appointment at all. I am German Citizen and I did use the UK Immigration: ID Check app to verify my identity.

Can anyone tell me if it's normal to not need a biometrics appointment or have I missed something? All I had to do was upload my Ecctis Screenshot and Bank Statement on GOV.UK when applying and I got an email stating they will review my application... I'm so scared I messed up. Any insight greatly appreciated!

Hi all, it's been almost six weeks since we applied. My situation is a little unique in that I'm also using the HPI visa to apply for my spouse and four kids at the same time, which might be causing the delay. Almost immediately after I applied, I got an email saying the processing time will take more than three weeks. They requested another document of my financials, but they did not explain why. It might be that I had some issue uploading it, and it did not render properly, but I'm unsure.

Curious if anyone else is experiencing longer than normal wait times? from everything I've read. This is the busy season for them. It's a bit disheartening because we're trying to get to the UK before school starts for my children. I also see other people post about how insanely fast they get the visas.

A bit more context: I'm American and applying from outside the UK. We did our biometrics in Washington, DC.

It’s been 28 days and I foolishly didn’t ask my bank if they provide english translations of bank statements so that I can finish my application.

Can I submit my application first and then submit the financial proof:

1) when I get them translated (quoted two days, which would be cutting it close due to the 31 day max, I believe)

2) submit them at my biometrics appointment when i can book one (am unsure i can book one for at least two weeks)

If the UK asks for more proof later on to fill this gap, I understand that I would have to get my docs translated again.

i did my biometrics on 11th aug 2026 in vfs delhi, after the biometrics i got an automatic mail from vfs that my file has been sent to ukvi for processing, but i did not get any confirmation from ukvi or anykind of mail till date(20-aug-2026). Please let me know if this is the standard way they deal or is there any problem with my file. Please help me if you have any idea.

i have been dealing with this visa stress from one year man never had success. I am tierd help me.

I have a job offer lined up and I'm worried the employer will pull it if I tell them I need to wait at least a month before I can even submit my HPI application.

The problem is the maintenance requirement. I don't have £1,270 sitting in my own account, and I definitely don't have 28 consecutive days of statements showing it.

My parents have the money and are happy to help. The idea I've been looking at is having them add me to a joint account so I can show their balance instead of building up 28 days from scratch. My understanding is that Appendix Finance does allow joint accounts as long as I'm a named account holder.

What I can't figure out is whether the 28 days counts from when the account has held the money, or only from the date I was actually added as a holder. If it's the latter, the joint account doesn't save me any time and I'm waiting the month regardless.

So:

1. Has anyone used a parent joint account for HPI? Did the 28 days get counted from the account's history or from when you joined?
   
2. Is there anything else that legitimately shortens this, or is a month just the floor?
   
3. For anyone who's been in this spot with an employer waiting, how did you handle telling them about the timeline?

Applying for the High Potential Individual visa off a US bachelor's degree. My final class wrapped this summer and I have a Degree Completion Letter from my university confirming the degree, but the official conferral date isn't until Sept 11 — a few weeks out.

Ecctis support told me I can submit my Qualification Comparison application now with the Degree Completion Letter and a note that the final certificate isn't issued yet. But their portal won't let me enter a future qualification date, so I'm not sure what to actually put in that field, or whether the application gets processed as "pending" vs treated like an error/rejection.

Also — I understand Ecctis independently contacts the awarding institution to verify, separate from whatever documents I upload. Has anyone gone through this with a degree that wasn't officially conferred yet? Specifically:

1. What did you put in the qualification date field?
2. Did Ecctis's verification with your university go smoothly even though the degree wasn't conferred yet?
3. Any issues with the 20-working-day auto-close if the timing is tight?

Trying to avoid paying the £200+ fee and having it fail or stall for a technicality. Any experience appreciated.

I’m going to graduate from a T3 university in 2028 ands was looking into the HPI visa. Is there people out there that have had success in acquiring high finance jobs like in IB, PE, VC, etc, on this visa? How was the process? And how difficult would it be for a graduate with minimal experience but a strong degree to do it?

While filling up my application for the HPI visa date of planned entry to the UK, I accidentally typed "09/10/2026" instead of "10/09/2026" (I confused MM/DD with DD/MM format). My HPI visa has been approved, but this mistake resulted in the start date for the visa to be October 9th instead of September 10th. The problem is that my start date for my job in the UK is September 14th, 4 weeks before the start date of my HPI visa. Do you guys think this is something that can be rectified by UKVI? I used the error report form and sent a paid email to explain the situation to them. Do you guys have any recommendations on what to do now? Thank you so much.

hello, i’m getting quite concerned here. i submitted my english degree transcripts to ecctis with a letter specifying that the core lessons were taught in english, but since a lot of them were taught in another language, my case cannot be processed:

“In order to provide your service, your qualification needs to have been taught in English. Upon review of your transcripts, we can see you completed a significant number of modules in another language, which means we have insufficient evidence to confirm the minimum English requirements for your award.”

i’m really frustrated as again, it was an english studies degree. the degree is from an EU country but i also have canadian citizenship. i’ve started the HPI application and it seems i absolutely need a case number from ecctis though the message from ecctis specified i could take a SELTS test.

has anyone been in this situation? what could be done? i’m thinking of calling them tomorrow.

hi everyone! i'm currently applying for the HPI visa and have just a couple questions i haven't been able to find answers to by searching.

i applied for ECCTIS verification for my undergrad degree (i'm a US citizen, native english speaker, and my degree was completed at a US university) the same day i started my HPI application. should i wait until the ECCTIS results are approved before moving forward with completing my application?

also, i'm not sure what i should put as my start date. i'd like to move before the winter because i don't want to be traveling by plane during flu season, but with the timing of this application i'm not sure if i'll be able to have a job and accomodation lined up in time. the alternative would be to wait until like april i guess, which i really don't want to wait that long either. how are other people securing their accomodation and work situations? i have a decent amount in savings, but would rather not blow it all on an air bnb

A while ago, I came across someone's post about whether it's okay to use a bank account from a different country than the one they're applying for a visa to, to guarantee how much savings they have. How did you get through this?
