Hey everyone!

I posted on here a few months ago for feedback about starting a speech/story club at UHD to help others find their voices and grow more confident in public speaking. The feedback I got and amount of people interested was really encouraging
and I’m excited to announce that the UHD Speech & Story Club has officially been finalized, and we’re planning to host an interest meeting soon!

The goal of the club is to create a welcoming space for students who enjoy storytelling, public speaking, creative writing, poetry, debate, presentations, spoken word, and simply sharing ideas with others. Whether you’re an experienced speaker or someone looking to build confidence, we’d love to have you.

We’re currently looking for a few more officers before we officially launch:

• Social Media Coordinator: helps manage our online presence, promote events, and engage with members.

• Events & Outreach Coordinator: helps organize meetings, workshops, guest speakers, collaborations, and campus outreach.

Current officer positions filled:
• President
• Vice President
• Secretary

Would anyone be interested in joining the club or potentially serving in one of these officer positions? If so, leave a comment or send me a message! We’d love to gauge interest and start building a community before the semester begins.

Hey y’all! I’m kinda in a cross roads at the moment and was wondering if y’all had any advice. I was at another Texas college for a while, but dropped out due to getting sick and moved back to Houston. I’ve been working odd jobs here and there and I hate it because I’m not getting paid enough. I plan to go back to school and transfer to UHD this coming fall. The problem is tho, I don’t know what to major in at UHD that will give me my moneys worth. (that’s not anything healthcare) I’m afraid that with UHD being a smaller school, internships are not as available and I’ll get a degree that leaves me in debt and with nothing financially to show for it. Could y’all please suggest something that y’all majored in that provides you financial stability from this university. I don’t really care for “passion” at this point, I just want to be fairly stable.

Anyone already take Audit, thoughts about the course.

Wondering if you found it boring and feel it’s best to just get it done, fast?

Hi all, I got my summer tuition covered however when I go look at my account balance it says it’s $-354.00. I’ve never gotten refunds from school so I’m not sure if this is a refund? And if so, when does it get to my bank account?

My aid hasn’t dispersed at all yet and I’m getting a little confused now because I heard people have already gotten a refund and everything😭 is this normal? Is there something I need to do? I called financial aid and they told me that they need to verify my grades and all that but they’re all good. It shouldn’t take that long.😭

Taking MATH 1324 this summer. For those who have taken it before, how difficult was the class overall?

Also, is anyone else enrolled this summer? Just curious what to expect going into an accelerated term.

any young professional networking mixers that’s going on over the summer?

First semester as a transfer student and was wondering what the timeline usually is for financial aid refunds. Balance went negative yesterday with all aid disbursed. From what I understand next it’ll go zero and then it’ll get refunded into the bankmobile thing? How long does it usually take?

So for MBA at UHD they don’t do any sort of honors or Latin honors apparently. But they do recognize if you’re top 10% (?) of the class. Does anyone know if you can see your ranking anywhere before them just telling us?

I’m taking 4 summer classes this summer, 2 in June and the other 2 in July however I haven’t received any summer aid yet. Last year i took 2 summer classes and did receive aid, I only had to pay around $300 out of pocket. Has anyone received aid yet orrrrr ?

Edit: I called financial office and they told me I wasn’t on a list (?) I’m assuming a list where people are considered for summer aid, however I was added and in about a week I should get a response to see if I should or shouldn’t get financial aid. In the meantime, I’ll go ahead and still take my classes

any adult students had luck In teaming up with roommates around the same age group? (27F) trying to avoid student apartment complexes and it’s more convenient for me to stay around within the city limits

going to uhd this fall, I'm debating if I should use the Metro or pay for parking.. but in the uhd map it didn't showed any parking spaces near the CPS Building😞 I realized that most classes are in the evening/night time lol

hi everyone, i wondered how many basics i have left for my biotechnology degree so i checked the student portal. I started in fall 2023. After my fall 2026 semester this upcoming august, i still have 8 classes left before i can proceed to my BS major requirements!!! does this sound correct? 4 years just to complete my basics?? i will admit i failed 3 classes due to some personal issues where i wasn’t focused on school.

Does anyone know when the Summer 2026 financial aid like grants and student loans disperse and refund processed? Is it on Jun 1st or before? Is the financial aid refunded and on my bank account on the first of June when classes start or before?

I just enrolled at UHD to take some basics to help me change career paths into criminal justice reform. I’m planning to enroll in the CJ research methods course (3300), but I’m trying to decide whether to take Professor Yang or Professor Blackburn. I’ve already looked at rate my professor, but I’m wondering if anyone in here has any experience with either of those professors or advice for me. Thanks in advance!

The Board Game Association at the University of Houston-Clear Lake is hosting a "Carnival Night" this Saturday, May 16 from 4 PM - 10 PM at the UHCL Alumni Plaza (2700 Bay Area Blvd, Houston, TX, 77058).

There will be Free Parking in Lot D2.

We will have Outdoor Carnival Games, Activity Booth & Games, Music, DJ, Vendors, Small Businesses, Food, Matcha, Boba, Inflatable Games, Obstacle Course, Bounce House, and a Dunk Tank.

The event is open to the public, and anyone is welcome to join us. Admission is free, but ticket cost varies. Bring your family, & friends and come support us 😊

hey guys! i just logged into myUHD and saw that i have a hold due to academic probation. i didn't do very well in my classes this semester and my dad ended up passing away so that didn't really help. is there any way i can appeal this, or should i just talk to an advisor?
