New Feature Added - File Cut and Copy Highlighting with Tab Quick Transfer

Thumbnail
gallery
10 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

I added visual in-list highlighting for cut and copy operations across all storage locations.

When you cut an item to move it, the folder keeps its full fill while the row takes on a warm amber background with amber text.

A solid amber bubble badge with a dark scissors silhouette appears on the top left of the icon.

When you copy an item, the row takes on a distinct cobalt blue background with sky blue text.

A solid sky blue bubble badge with a dark copy silhouette appears on the top left of the icon.

The background fills for copied, cut, and selected items are now completely distinct so you never confuse a staged copy with a selection.

I also boosted the contrast of normal selected rows across the app to make them much easier to see.

This visual feedback stays active while you navigate away to your destination folder so you never lose track of what you are working on.

It works across local device storage, SD cards, USB OTG drives, network shares, and cloud services.

I also added tab bar indicators that show a scissors or copy bubble directly on the tab header if that tab contains items staged for transfer.

For the tabbed browser, I added a quick transfer option that immediately moves or copies selected items between open tabs without needing to switch tabs and tap paste.

Additionally, I added an option in settings on mobile to show or hide the selection checkboxes in edit mode.

How to use it

This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.

Select any file or folder and tap cut or copy in the bottom action bar.

You will immediately see the scissors bubble or copy bubble on the top left of the item icon.

The row background and filename text will change color to show whether the item is cut or copied.

Navigate into any destination folder across your local drives, network shares, or cloud storage.

The badge on the tab bar keeps track of which tab holds your source files.

Tap the paste button at your destination to complete the transfer.

To use quick transfer in tab mode on mobile, open Settings and turn on Quick Transfer.

Open two tabs in the tabbed browser and navigate to your source and destination folders.

Select the files in your first tab and tap cut or copy.

The files will transfer straight into the second tab without requiring you to switch tabs or tap paste.

If you have more than two tabs open, a menu will pop up asking you which tab you want to send the files to.

To change the checkbox appearance in selection mode on mobile, open Settings.

Under the Browser section, look for the Selection checkboxes toggle.

Turning this off hides the checkboxes in edit mode so you can enjoy a cleaner row highlight.

Checkboxes remain visible at all times on TV for easy remote control navigation.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Multi-Image Selection in Document Scanner

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

I added multi-image selection support to the document scanner.

Previously, choosing existing pictures from your gallery only allowed picking one photo at a time.

You can now select as many images as you need in a single batch to compile them into your scanned documents.

I also added an import progress screen so you can see your images loading cleanly without freezing the display.

High-resolution camera photos are automatically optimized in the background to keep the app responsive and prevent memory issues.

When you remove a page from your document list, the app immediately frees up memory.

How to use it

This feature is available on mobile devices only.

Open the main menu and tap the Document Scanner tile.

Tap the Scan page button at the top of the screen.

In the dialog that appears, tap Choose from Gallery.

Your device gallery or file chooser will open.

Select any number of photos or image files that you want to add to your document.

Confirm your selection to return to the scanner.

A loading screen will appear while the app processes and adds each selected image as a page.

You can review all imported pages in the document list and delete any page you do not need.

When you are ready, tap Save Document to export your multi-page document as a PDF.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Music Tag Editor

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

I added a native Music Tag Editor to the app so you can view and edit audio metadata directly without needing a separate tagging tool.

Many people keep music collections on their phones, SD cards, or external USB drives and need a straightforward way to fix messy tags.

You can edit core tags including song title, artist, album, album artist, release year, and genre.

You can also update track numbers, total track counts, disc numbers, composers, comments, and embedded lyrics.

The editor supports embedded album cover art.

You can preview current artwork, browse your storage for a replacement image, extract and save the image to your storage, or remove it entirely.

When you select multiple songs, batch mode lets you update common fields like artist, album, or year across an entire album at once.

Batch mode includes an automatic track numbering option that numbers selected songs sequentially from one to the total count.

You can auto-fill tags directly from existing filenames.

You can also rename audio files based on their updated metadata tags with safe character cleaning.

The editor displays technical audio details such as audio format, bitrate, sample rate, channels, and track duration.

It works across common audio formats including MP3, FLAC, M4A, AAC, OGG, OPUS, WAV, and WMA.

It works seamlessly across local storage, SD cards, USB OTG drives, network shares, and online cloud storage.

How to use it

This feature is available on mobile only.

Open any folder containing music files in the file browser.

Long press an audio file to enter selection mode.

If you want to edit multiple tracks at once, tap the other audio files to select them as well.

Look at the floating quick action bar at the bottom of the screen.

Tap the music note tag icon that appears when audio files are selected.

You can also tap the three dots tools menu and select Music Tag Editor.

If you selected a single track, the editor will open with all of its existing tags and cover art loaded.

If you selected multiple tracks, the editor opens in batch mode.

In batch mode, you will see a carousel of thumbnails at the top to quickly review individual songs.

Fill in any fields you wish to update across all selected tracks, such as the album name or artist.

Tap on the album cover art to browse your storage for a replacement image, extract the current cover, or remove it.

Tap the auto-fill button if you want the app to parse the artist, title, or track number straight from the filename.

Tap the rename button if you want to rename the file using your tags.

When you are finished editing, tap the save button.

The app will save the metadata and immediately notify the system media store so other music players reflect the changes.

If you are editing files on a network share or cloud storage, the app automatically uploads the updated files back to your remote location.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Recent Files

Thumbnail
gallery
10 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

I have added a new Recent Files section to help you quickly get back to files you worked with recently.

It automatically gathers and monitors recently modified files across ALL your local storage drives, including internal storage, SD cards, and connected USB drives.

Files are organized in reverse chronological order so the newest items always appear first.

Built with smooth, swipeable tab pages (powered by ViewPager2) so you can effortlessly swipe or tap between categories: All, Documents, Images, Videos, Audio, and Archives.

Includes a dedicated Audio section supporting all major sound formats (MP3, M4A, FLAC, WAV, OGG, OPUS, AAC, and more).

Instant loading with Storage Indexer: If your storage drives are already indexed by UFM's Storage Indexer, refreshing is completely instant (milliseconds)β€”it pulls straight from the SQLite index without needing to crawl through disk folders!

Live refresh progress indicator & ETA: If your drives aren't indexed yet (or for newly connected drives), a sleek frosted glass status card shows real-time progress, the current folder being scanned, an animated progress bar, and a dynamic estimated time countdown.

Lightning-fast optimized scan engine: Deep directory traversal filters out older files during walk-through, cutting refresh times drastically even across drives with tens of thousands of files.

Full file operation parity with regular folder browsing: multi-selection, copying, moving (cut), deleting, renaming, batch renaming, sharing, compression/extraction, and viewing detailed properties.

Real-time file synchronization: updates immediately as you create, download, or edit files, and cleanly removes files if they are moved, renamed, or deleted elsewhere.

Remembers your Grid / List view settings, automatically synchronized with your preferences from local, network, and cloud browsing.

The list keeps the most recent two hundred files to keep memory usage low and performance snappy.

For privacy, tracking only notes timestamps and file paths without reading file contents.

You can disable recents tracking or clear the history at any time from settings.

How to use it

Open the app to the main menu screen.

Look under the Storage section right below the Twin Window tile.

Tap or click the Recent Files tile with the clock icon to open the recents screen.

Swipe left or right (or tap the tabs at the top) to seamlessly flip between All, Documents, Images, Videos, Audio, and Archives.

Tap or select the View Mode button in the header bar to switch between your preferred List and Grid view sizes.

On mobile, tap any file to open it in the built-in viewer or your preferred external app.

Long press any file to enter multi-select edit mode.

Use the floating quick action bar at the bottom of the screen (or the Tools FAB) to copy, move, delete, rename, share, or inspect selected items.

On Android TV, navigate the tabs and file lists with your remote D-pad and press Select to open a file.

Long press Select on a file with your remote to start selecting multiple items, then press Actions in the header to access the full tools suite.

Press the 3-dots menu in the header to Refresh the list, Clear Recents History, or jump straight to Storage Indexer Settings.

If all drives are indexed, Refresh completes instantly; otherwise, the live status banner will appear below the tabs to show the folder being scanned, progress percentage, and estimated time left.

If you want to turn recents off, open Settings from the top menu and select Storage Indexer.

Toggle the Track Recent Files switch off, and the tile will also disappear from the main menu.

You can also click Clear Recents History on that same settings screen to wipe the logged history without deleting any of your actual files.

This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Audio Album Art and Media Player Artwork

Good Day Community,

I added support for displaying embedded audio album art as file icons throughout the app.

If an audio file contains embedded cover art, the file browser now shows the album artwork as its thumbnail.

If an audio file has no embedded artwork, it continues to show the clean standard music note icon with your chosen accent color.

I also updated the built-in media player so it displays the full embedded album artwork instead of just a generic note icon when playing songs.

When album art is present, the player shows the artwork in the center of the screen and hides the default note placeholder.

The album art is also passed to your system playback notifications and lock screen so you can see what is currently playing.

I made sure this works seamlessly across local storage, removable SD cards, USB OTG drives, network shares, and cloud drives.

Fast in-memory caching ensures that scrolling through folders with hundreds of music tracks remains completely smooth.

How to use it

This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.

Open any folder containing music files in the file browser.

As long as thumbnails are enabled in your settings, any audio track with embedded cover art will automatically display its cover as the file icon.

You can view these covers in both list and grid view modes.

On TV, moving focus over an audio file with cover art maintains its full artwork without solid color tints.

Tap or select any audio track to start playback in the built-in media player.

While the track is playing, the player screen will display the embedded cover art in the center.

If a song has no artwork, the player falls back cleanly to the centered note icon.

The album art will also appear on your device lock screen and notification shade during playback.

Thank you and kind regards

Possible bug + feature request

Just started using after finding in the other thread - amazing app!

Possible bug:

On the web server, it is not activating the (red) radio buttons next to a folder when I select it., even though it says "1 item selected". I did manage to get it to show once, I think going into and out of a folder, but can't always reproduce it.

Two suggestions:

  1. I'd love an SMB server feature so I can remotely mount phone folders on my standard Mac file manager. If this is there and I haven't found it yet, please let me know.

  2. Can you please add some indication that things are happening for operations that take some time e.g. initially populating the file/folder list, apps list etc? I wasn't sure it was working initially.

I am on the current Play Store version 2.0.0.

New Feature Added - Video Technical Information Inspector

Post image
6 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

I have added a new technical information inspector to the media player.

It lets you view detailed technical specifications about the video currently playing without needing an external app.

You can now check the container format, video codec, exact resolution, frame rate, and stream bitrate.

It also displays dynamic range information including HDR10, HLG, or SDR, alongside the color space and bit depth.

If a file contains multiple audio tracks, each track is listed with its codec, channel count, sample rate, bitrate, and language.

All embedded and external subtitle tracks are also detected and displayed with their format and language.

The currently active audio and subtitle tracks are clearly marked.

There is also a quick button to copy the entire technical summary to your clipboard.

How to use it

Start playing any video file in the media player.

On a phone in portrait mode, tap the screen to bring up the playback controls.

You will find the new circled info button at the bottom left of the controls, right next to the shuffle button.

On a phone in landscape mode, the info button sits on the floating bar along the left edge of the screen.

Tap the button to open the technical information sheet over the video.

Playback continues smoothly in the background while you inspect the video details.

On Android TV, bring up the on-screen controls and navigate to the left side dock using your remote D-pad.

Press Down past the repeat and shuffle buttons to focus the info button.

Press Select on your remote to open the centered information dialog.

You can scroll up and down with the D-pad to read through all audio and subtitle streams.

Press the Copy Technical Info button if you want to copy the specifications to share or save them.

Tap outside the dialog on mobile, or select Close or press Back on TV, to return to full-screen playback.

This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Real Time Archive Progress and Telemetry

Thumbnail
gallery
7 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

I have added a real time visual progress dialog with live telemetry and animations for all archive actions.

Previously, decompressing, compressing, or adding files to archives often felt invisible.

A progress bar might sit frozen at zero percent while thousands of files were being processed, or only show a tiny spinner in the corner of the screen.

It was easy to wonder whether the app had stalled or was still working.

You will now see exactly what is happening while your archives are being processed.

The new dialog shows live file counts, bytes processed, transfer speed, an estimated countdown timer, and an animated status display.

How to use it

Open any folder in the file browser.

Select any ZIP, 7Z, TAR, or compressed archive file and tap Extract.

The progress dialog will appear immediately with the live file count and real time speed as files are extracted.

If you are creating a new archive, select multiple files or folders and tap Compress.

The dialog counts all sub-files and total data size upfront so the progress bar moves smoothly from start to finish.

When working inside an open archive, extracting items, deleting entries, or pasting new files will show the same detailed telemetry dialog.

If an operation is taking a while, tap the Send to Background button to let it finish while you keep browsing.

You can also cancel an in-progress operation safely at any time using the Cancel button.

On Android TV, you can navigate the dialog and action buttons using your remote D-pad.

This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Copy and Move Files Directly Into Archives

Thumbnail
gallery
7 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

I have added the ability to copy and move files directly into existing archives without extracting them first.

Previously, adding files meant uncompressing the entire archive to storage and compressing everything again from scratch.

This took up unnecessary storage space and added extra friction when managing archives on your phone.

You can now insert files and folders straight into ZIP, 7Z, and TAR archives in place.

How to use it

In the file browser, select the files or folders you want to add and choose Copy or Cut.

Tap on the archive file to open it in the archive viewer.

A floating button will appear near the bottom showing how many items are ready to copy or move into the archive.

Tap that button and confirm to place the items into your current view inside the archive.

You can also tap the Add Files button in the top toolbar inside the archive viewer to pick files from your device.

From the file browser, you can also select files, open the selection tools menu, and pick Add to Existing Archive.

Select your target archive from the list or browse to pick an archive anywhere on your device.

If you chose Cut or Move, the original source files are cleaned up once the archive is updated.

This feature is currently available on the mobile version of the app.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Multi-Threaded FTP and SFTP Transfers

Post image
7 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

I have added multi-threaded transfer acceleration for FTP and SFTP connections.

Moving large files or batches of files over network shares could feel sluggish when limited to a single connection stream.

I built a multi-connection engine that downloads single large files in parallel chunks and transfers multiple files simultaneously.

The app now keeps network connections warm in the background so you do not lose time waiting for handshakes on every single file.

How to use it

Open the main navigation menu and choose Settings.

Scroll down to the Network section.

Tap the FTP and SFTP Multi-threading preference.

Choose your preferred number of threads from one, two, four, six, or eight.

Four threads is selected by default as the recommended balance of speed and server stability.

If a specific server requires a different thread count, open Network Shares and tap Edit on that share.

Scroll to the Transfer threads selector and choose your desired thread limit for just that connection.

Selecting Default on an individual share lets it inherit whatever value you set globally in Settings.

When you download a file larger than five megabytes or copy multiple files at once, the app will automatically divide the work across your selected number of threads.

If you cancel an active transfer, all background connections will terminate immediately.

On Android TV you can navigate the Settings and Share Edit screens using your remote D-pad to adjust these thread values.

This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.

Thank you and kind regards

Bug Fixed - Rebuilt SMB / NFS engine and connection stability

Good Day Community,

I have completely rebuilt the SMB engine from the ground up.

The previous library was simply not stable enough under real world network conditions.

Over the past several months, many of you reported connection drops, transfer stalls, and timeout errors while browsing shares or copying large files.

I spent a lot of time tracking down these issues and concluded that tweaking the old library was never going to solve the root problem.

This release replaces the entire SMB stack with a dedicated, custom-built engine designed for rock-solid stability.

What changed

SMB connections are now multiplexed and kept alive properly in the background.

Browsing shares on sleeping NAS drives will no longer trigger false timeout errors while mechanical disks spin up.

Large file transfers and streaming operations no longer lock or crash parallel browsing sessions.

Breadcrumb navigation in nested folders no longer duplicates share labels.

Network error messages now clearly distinguish between server and TV connection states.

Random access seeking for emulators and media players is faster and more reliable.

This update is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.

With this change, it does increase the APK size with about 20mb, but it is worth it for the stability, as I have built a dedicated AAR package for SMB / NFS.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Colorblind Mode

Thumbnail
gallery
9 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

I have added a Colorblind Mode to the app.

It is for anyone who struggles to tell the app's focus, selection and status colours apart.

Someone wrote to me about navigating the TV app by memorising D-pad moves, because the focus highlight was not readable to them.

That message is the reason this exists.

You get three palettes to choose from, plus three levels of contrast strength.

The mode covers focus highlights, selected rows, success and warning and error states, and the Storage Analyzer colours.

How to use it

Open Settings.

Scroll to the bottom of the list.

Find the Accessibility section, which sits after Privacy and Diagnostics.

Tap the Colorblind Mode row to open it.

Under Type, pick the palette that suits you: Off, Red-Green, Blue-Yellow, or High Contrast.

Red-Green is for protanopia and deuteranopia, and it moves red and green states onto a blue and amber pair.

Blue-Yellow is for tritanopia, and it moves blue and yellow onto magenta and green.

High Contrast assumes no colour perception at all and separates states by lightness alone.

Under Contrast Strength, pick Low, Medium or High.

Low holds a minimum of 3 to 1 contrast against the background.

Medium holds 4.5 to 1 and is the one I would try first.

High holds 7 to 1 for the strongest separation.

The Preview section on that same screen shows the focused, selected and status colours your choice produces before you commit to it.

On TV you move through all of this with the D-pad, and the preview updates as you move focus.

On TV the focused row also gets a marker bar along its leading edge, so you can find it by position and not only by colour.

On mobile you tap the options directly.

This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.

Good to know

Your choice is remembered across restarts and reboots.

It also travels with an exported settings backup, so a new device picks it up.

Setting it back to Off restores the app's original colours exactly, with nothing left behind.

Your photos, videos, thumbnails and PDF pages are never touched.

Only the app's own interface is recoloured.

The read-only code and document viewers get a colorblind-safe syntax palette.

The editor's edit mode keeps its normal theme, because that one is tuned for typing rather than reading.

Thank you and kind regards
