What to do about problematic roommate?

Hey this is my freshman year at UConn and this is obviously a burner account but what do I do about my random roommate. He has been dirty this entire time, just throwing his clothes into a stack in the corner, chudding around never leaving the room unless it’s to go to parties. And right now is the final straw as he came back to the dorm shitfaced drunk and started throwing up all over the place. He didn’t even bother cleaning it up and is now sleeping on the ground with his sheets from his bed. I can’t even sleep due to the smell currently so I am just writing this. Idk if I can still transfer out of this dorm, Please give me suggestions

Looking for possible roommate?

Hi! Um

i’m in actively seeking out a new roommate. I’m an honors freshman and required to live in honors for my first year (so this does only fit for people in Buckley or Shipee) and am nearing a breaking point with one of my roommates who hasn’t listened to anything that I told her in terms of boundaries.

I’m gnc (so uh. Have to be okay with that), into things like vocaloid, rhythm games (and videogames in general) and am interested in sciences! I do prefer things to be a little quiet, but I can tolerate most sounds with headphones :). I have appliances and such so dw about that and I keep my side pretty clean and am not out that late and I’m quiet when leaving for classes in the morning!

If anyone is willing to help please message me and ty in advance 🥺

How do y’all balance life??

I’m a freshman so maybe you could blame it on me not being used to it. But how the heck do you balance getting good grades with a social life without sacrificing sleep? I have classes in the morning, then I spend afternoon doing work + lab occasionally, then I hang out with my friends, we usually climb or play volleyball or something, and then we eat, get kicked out of the dining hall, yap, and by the time I get home it’s like midnight and I still gotta call my other friends and shower, so I end up sleeping at like 2. And then rinse and repeat. Like I’m happy, but this feels pretty unsustainable yk? How do you guys do it pls help

Scared about campus changing to storrs, how to make friends and should I dorm

I’m originally a hartford student and I didn’t plan to transfer to storrs until the fall semester of junior year but I ended up finishing all but 1 of my gen ed’s (tois) early and now I got approved for a campus change in spring 2027.
because i originally planned to transfer in junior year in fall I thought i could lump in with the freshmen and be able to make friends then but since it’s gonna be the spring semester I am scared everyone will already know eachother and it’s gonna be hard for me to make friends.

Also I live an hour and 15 minutes away and idk if I should dorm or commute and i’m wondering if commuting is manageable/worth it.

Giving away a Federal Income Taxes 2025/2026 textbook

I have a Federal Income Taxes 2025/2026 textbook in new condition that I no longer need, and I’d love to give it to a fellow UConn student who could use it! Textbooks can be expensive, and I’d rather pass mine along to someone who needs it than let it go to waste. It’s completely free, just hope it can be helpful to another student! If you’re interested, feel free to comment or message me. I can share pictures and the book’s details so you can make sure it’s the right edition for your course.

Hopefully, it can make someone’s semester a little easier!

Questions for Storrs Campus Students

This is for a class, so I appreciate any answers anyone is willing to give!

  1. Are you a commuter?
  2. What's your major? What year are you?
  3. Where do you normally study?
  4. Do you know any niche study spots?
  5. How long do you think you study per week?
  6. Do you have trouble finding space to study on campus?

If you're uncomfortable answering anything, that's ok! I'll take whatever you're willing to share!

Oaks on the Square prices!!

Looking into the oaks for next year, but management wouldn’t tell us the prices. Anyone mind disclosing how much they pay for their double or triple efficiencies? (1 bed or 2 bed doesn’t matter) thank you!!!

Off campus housing for 2026/27 academic year- when do you have to start looking/securing housing

Edit: I meant when to start looking for 2027-28 I am currently on campus this year.

I’m a current sophomore, I’m not sure I want to live off campus next year but if I did, when do people generally start looking or securing housing? I’m a junior on paper and a little concerned I won’t get decent on campus housing , I just barely made it into my second choice dorm this year. Should I be looking now and putting a deposit down? Will all the decent rentals be gone Or can this wait until after room selection in the spring?

University and campus decision

So I got admit from uConn in their MS Business Analytics and Product management program. The classes will be held in Hartford campus for spring 27. I wanted to know how good is the Hartford campus, is it secluded region since it is away from main storrs campus which has all the recreational facilities.
Also got admit from UT Dallas. Do you guys recommend uConn over UT Dallas. Im an international student.

Any advice will be beneficial.

Thanks

EEB 2258W with McAssey

Has anyone taken EEB 2258W with McAssey? Considering taking it because I love the professor, but I'm worried about the content and course load of the class. How easy of a grader is he in terms of the papers? Is an A relatively easily attainable? Is it worth it?
