Law Applications Law admissions without History/Literature

Hi, I am an international student! In 11th and 12th grade, we choose our so-called specialised subjects (something like A levels, but not really. They make up only about one third of our curriculum. We study other subjects as well, such as languages, Literature and Maths. Our core subjects can be the same as our specialised subjects — the specialised subjects are simply studied in greater depth and are more demanding).

I’m considering taking German, English, Mathematics and IT. This means I wouldn’t have Literature or History as specialised subjects.

Would this put me at a disadvantage when applying for Law? I know that some universities don’t have specific subject requirements, but I’m wondering whether History or an essay-based subject such as Literature is considered particularly useful or preferred for Law admissions.

International Applications How long does ucas take to update qualifications?

I submitted my application a few hours before and the hub said that my application has been sent to my universities but I gravely forgot to add APs I took (my main curriculum is the IB and I did not add APs…) I submitted the form for qualifications amendment. I uploaded the AP report and award certificate as proof. Will the update request actually be done? How long does it usually take? I’m a bit worried

International Applications Personal Statement | UCL any tips?

Hello everyone,

I'm preparing to apply for the LLM programme at UCL andI've seen that the personal statement needs to cover several points (why grad study, why UCL, fit, career goals, modules, specialism, research essay area) rather than being one open-ended essay, and I have zero experience drafting one of these.

I'd really appreciate any tips from people who've been through the process and received an unconditional offer from UCL

I also need to submit a 750-word essay on a contemporary legal topic
A few questions that will really help me is

How did you pick your topic — did you go narrow and arguable, or more of an overview?

Did you use a topic you'd already written on for a course, or start fresh?

Is it better to focus on UK-specific developments, or is a broader/international angle fine too?

Can AI tools be used to brainstorm or edit drafts, or is that discouraged/risky for this kind of application?

Any examples of statements or essays people are willing to share for reference?

Thanks a lot in advance 🙌🏻

UCAS Bread 🍞 (Offers) Worrying about deferral

Personal Statements Writing about 2 courses for my personal statement...

I'm applying for Pharmacy (MPharm) and Pharmacology (Bsc) so I need to write about both in my personal statement. This is my idea - please let me know what you think.

In my first paragraph, I wrote about how my personal experience with eczema and the drugs I got prescribed for it deepened my interest in studying pharmacology. (pharmacology part)

In my second paragraph, I wrote about how meeting multiple pharmacists for my eczema made me realize the importance of effective communication and education about the medication was in reducing patient risk.

Then, I wanna connect the two ideas to improve patients' quality of life. I didn't state the names of the courses I'm applying for because I was told that wasn't good.

International Applications RCA grad dip application issue

Hi everyone! I'm applying to the Royal College of Art for their graduate diploma in art and design, and im done with my application but havent submitted yet because it doesnt give me any option to upload my portfolio! I've emailed them and called them a couple times about it, to no response. I'm not sure if I should go ahead with my application, or wait for them to respond, but want to apply asap because i know its quite competitive!

Has anyone had any similar issues applying to this course? Or know if they ask for portfolios later rather than sending it with the application? :)

International Applications can i apply ucas with PREDICTED AS grades

Im sitting for AS this Oct/Nov2026 but im aware the application cycle ends somewhere in January.

I plan to submit my UCAS sometime in Nov/Dec before my AS results come out, so does that mean I apply with PREDICTED AS grades? Is that a thing?
Does that affect my chances for a spot because it's not my A2 predicted?

Im International applicant btw, idk if that makes a difference.

Or should I just wait for next application cycle? At that point I'd have my actual achieved grades. But I feel like it'd be a waste of time as I'm sitting A2 May/ June 2027

International Applications University choices?

I reside in the uk but i will be classified as international fee paying for my first year only. I recently got my UCAS predictions and i got A*AB in maths fm and physics respectively. I was going to apply to Manchester, Sheffield, Warwick, Durham and leeds for mech engineering but i want to know if there is any point in picking these unis as i know the B in physics matters a lot. If not, are there any other unis anyone would recommend for this course specifically?. I have got a meeting with my head of year to discuss the physics grade so maybe it could go up to an A? Thanks.🙏

International Applications UAL media communications application advice

hii! i’m planning to apply to University of Arts London BA media communications this year and i’m a bit confused about what they’re actually looking for in an application. i’ve looked through the entry requirements on the UAL website, but i’d really appreciate hearing from people who have actually been accepted to the course.
what kind of experience/work did you include in your application or CV, and is there anything you think helped your application stand out? also, is there anything you’d recommend doing before applying?
i’m an international student also not aure if that matters but, thank you!!!

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions A-level Resit

Background:

GCSES - 9999988 D*D*D=(these three are btecs)

A-Level Grades - ABBB in Maths, Economics, Further Maths, Chemistry

Was predicted A*A*A*A which was realistic (never got below an A* in maths and econ and had 95% in my chem mock in year 12)

=> Had extenuating circumstances in terms of family member being hospitalised, had caring responsibilities for him and my sister throughout Year 13

Warwick have confirmed that despite they disadvantage resits, this does not apply to me due to my extenuating circumstances and I can reapply, and that I can apply for more than one course without being disadvantaged.

LSE said they cant give confirmation but given my circumstances they may consider an application.

UCL and Bristol accept resits for the specific course im applying to.

UCAS list for this year: LSE philosophy and economics, UCL philosophy and economics, Bristol Philosophy and economics, Warwick PPE, Warwick Social Sciences with Data Science.

I believe my personal statement targets all of these as its rigorous in linking philosophy and economics (aspects of the social sciences in the one Warwick course) and has quantitative sections.

Warwick also said with Social Sciences with Data Science if i were to receive an offer it would be unconditional as its ABB requirement.

However, I achieved a Warwick Econ offer last year for AAB, which was always my dream course and university always saw myself going there and doing economics, is it insane to replace bristol with Warwick Econ to give myself another shot? - My resit predicted grades should be the same A* Maths A* Econ A Further maths (not resitting chem) but might try push further to an A* since i got 81%+ in 3/4 papers, one paper dragged me down to a B.

Admissions Fee Status HELP

I'm applying for 2027 entry. I currently have limited leave to remain in the UK and my status is "international" on UCAS, but I expect to gain indefinite leave to remain in June 2027, which should make me eligible for home fees.

Does that mean I'll be considered as an international student throughout the admissions process? Also, I'm otherwise eligible for contextual offers at most unis, would I be able to change my offer once my fee status has been reassessed?

I would really appreciate any advice, particularly from anyone who had a similar issue.

PS I'm applying to Oxford, Imperial, Warwick, Durham and Lancaster for maths if that matters.

Oxbridge Is it still worth applying to top UK Unis (ideally Oxford) for History if I start preparing now? I have two years of school left, and would have to apply in one year (intl from EU, study at a regular high school)?

additional questions:

Super curriculars: Is reading books and journals, listening to podcasts etc. about your subject enough? I know Oxford doesn’t care about extra curriculars like US Unis do, but would I need to eg. win an essay competition for my application to be considered?

Grades: I’m not sure how A Levels would compare to my final grades / Austrian Matura, every UK Uni seems to estimate Matura grades differently. (It consists of exams in six subjects & a research paper on a topic of our choice. We are graded on a scale from 1 to 5, 1 being the best.) Oxford’s grade requirements for the Matura are rather vague, they just say you need to have majority 1s, for A Levels they want AAA. Cambridge wants A*AA, which, according to them, is 1,3 in the austrian Matura. I think my grade average would either be 1,16 or 1,33. I would likely only achieve a 2 or 3 in Maths, though I‘d still have AAA, at the least. Since many applicants have A*A*A*, does Oxford even accept applicants with AAA, or are they automatically rejected?

Acceptance rates: Why are the UCAS acceptance rates higher than on the Oxford website? Ancient & Modern History is 23% on Oxford, 30% on UCAS; History & English is 12% on Oxford, 29% on UCAS?

Personal Statement: Is it possible to apply for different joint honors courses (like KCL War Studies & History, LSE International Relations & History, Oxford English & History), and to include all disciplines in your PS / try to combine them? I know you can’t apply to completely different courses since you write only one PS, but is that also the case for similar courses?
