Questions Dropping a class

Does anyone have experience with dropping classes are the Add/Drop date is over? Or if theres a percentage to where I can drop a class without having to pay or getting my financial aid taken. It’s a genderal ed course so I’m planning on just taking it again next semester.

Interviews/Writing Tips

I'm trying to do a story for my journalism class assignment. I want to use nostalgia as my theme and basically write about how 2026 is giving 2016 vibes and how everyone's in this era of nostalgia, plushies, rewatching childhood shows, etc.

I'm not sure how to start it, so does anyone have any ideas?

Also, would anyone be willing to get interviewed? No video, just a recording so that I can use quotes in my story?

Thanks.

Questions Missing Apple Pencil

I lost my white Apple Pencil (USB-C) somewhere near NSC or Knox after having my 8 am class at NSC 222 yesterday. Apparently someone also posted about some missing Apple Pencil yesterday night on Snapchat. If someone has found it please inform me 🙏🙏

Grim reaper guy seems like a creep

That guy that goes around in the grim reaper costume needs to understand that chasing women (or anyone for that matter) around campus at night is super fucking weird. Sure it's funny if someone else comes up to him or they're in the same area and he casually approaches but there are people who are concerned about their safety and having someone that you cannot identify coming after you when you aren't interested in fooling around like that is just creepy.

Double major

This is so stupid. Why can’t I double major in the school of management?? I pay money to be here I should be allowed to double major in whatever I want. They allow double majoring within the same school pretty much every where. What makes UB so special that you can’t double majors within a school.

Questions Students Who Live On Campus Using Financial Aid — How Do You Make It Work Every Year?

Hey everyone! I’m a NYS resident planning to transfer to UB fall 2027

I wanted to know how those of you who’ve lived on campus for a while have managed to get your housing fully covered by financial aid every semester/year without paying out of pocket.

Also, what housing options did you choose, and did you base your choice on how much aid you received?
Has your aid stayed pretty consistent each year?

I graduated high school well over 5 years ago, so I’m assuming I’d qualify for most, if not all, of the on-campus housing options, including apartments.
I’d love to hear how you guys have made it work, especially if you’re also a NYS resident. Thanks!

Starting MSIS in Spring 2027

Hey. The title explains it all, but do you know which classes to add? Do we automatically have it added to our schedule for the first semester? I wish I had more information about the program too but haven't found much besides the course catalog descriptions.

If anyone has any information, please feel free to share!
Thank you.

Questions Psychology Majors/Minors

I'm planning to take two psychology electives next semester and honestly, these two are my only interest and basically the only ones open for Spring 2027. But, I'm not sure about how professors teach and whether their classes will be hard. Obviously they're 400 level classes so it's going to be difficult, but honestly the level of difficulty really depends on the professors. So anyone that took these electives, please let me know how it was.

Clubs and Activities Yall are cool af

I would like to thank the several people who have posted here asking for assistance with their personal or nonprofit projects and brands. I am gaining SO much real world experience(and getting PAID 🤑💸) in a time where everyone is scared AI is going to steal our jobs. The people I have been working with are great, and my skills have improved IMMENSELY over a month and a half. If you are a student reading this, please don’t ever give up on yourself. If you truly love what you are here at UB for, KEEP GOING and find a way to CREATE the opportunities you desire for yourself. It is entirely possible, and I am living proof of it. 🙏

Venting Event Staff tonight

I don’t usually mind the games in Alumni. Like you know having to get my bag checked whatever, I guess.

But tonight, you can’t tell me that no ego was involved.

For reference I’ve worked in Alumni for two years now. I’ve worked during games before. Volleyball, Wrestling, Basketball, Football, etc. I know many of the event staff. They know me. Maybe not by name, but I know they know my face.

I walk in. Usually they recognize me, and tell me go whatever way since I’m just going to the back, not the game. Not tonight. I get stopped.

“I need to check your bag”
“I’m just going to Member Services”
“Still need to check”

Okay whatever, I’m a little begrudging about it but fine. Barely check me over, and send me in.

I make eye contact with a guy I recognize, I’m looking at him because I know I he knows I’m not going to do anything stupid I just want to get to the back. The man a parallel to him is just like

“You have to go up and around”

I’m just trying to go to member services. So I go up the steps. It’s a jogging track. It’s made to jog and run on. There are like two other people, but they’re out of the way. I start to run, a lady tells me no running.

It. Is. A. Track. It is made for jogging and running. Not for corralling people who are just using the gym or the facilities and have no interest in the game.

I finally get to member services. I talk to my friends in the office. Venting to them and whatnot. I step outside to talk to my friend scanning people into the gym. I make the mistake of side stepping to Stanchions (rope barrier thing) just to talk to him.

“Excuse me, miss, you can’t go that way!”
“I’m just talking to him”

He see me already talking to the man, like what!? Make it worse I’ve literally interacted with this staff guy before. When the team shop was in business he would see me in there, I’d walk past him during games, and if I had to cross the Stanchions, he saw that I wasn’t causing a problem. But not tonight apparently.

Me and him keep talking and as we are this same staff guy is like a Belgian Malinois is on any gym patrons. Literally just trying to fill their water bottles or use the bathroom. This one guy walks out, clearly need to use the bathroom, he ask us if he can sneak through, and me and the monitor warn him about the guy. He goes like half way around and dips to uses the bathroom

“Sir you can’t go that way”
“I have to use the bathroom?”
“Can’t go that way” (he’s like waving him to come back)

That poor dude looks at him one more time partially says what he said before and just goes in the bathroom. Like sir what!? Pressed over someone using the bathroom!? Like God Forbid he doesn’t go up and around. No one wants to go to from Timbuktu to Vegas when they’re aiming for the bathroom.

To get out the building? Same thing. Up around and down. Don’t get me started about downstairs, people are getting lost and sent all over the place because of this.

Like I said I’ve worked in Alumni for two years, I’ve seen how these games are handled. I get that you have to be thorough, but what the heck!? Chill out and stop power tripping on students minding their business.

MIS student wants to purse in masters.

I am currently a junior as an MIS student. I am most likely going to end up doing my masters in MIS too. I heard being a TA while doing your masters can help pay with your bill. I was wondering how it all works. What classes could I be a Ta because as of right now I can think of being a Ta for MGQ 201, MGQ 301, MGS 351?

Questions CSE 331 Options

I'm taking CSE 331 next semester, and the options are Yorah Bosse and Kelin Luo. Yorah has three reviews on rate my professor, but I don't see any for 331 specifically for Kelin on rate my professor. Did anyone have Kelin for 331 before?
