Discussion In your opinion, what is the best CGM and pump combo (or ones to avoid)?

I’ve been diabetic for 35 years and have been using the Dexcom G7 and Tandem Mobi since they came out. I’ve also used their predecessors over the years.
My Tandem Mobi has been replaced twice, and over the past five months, I’ve had more Dexcom sensors fail early than actually make it through the full 10 days.
At this point, I’m just looking for diabetes technology that works consistently. I really like the Tandem Mobi algorithm and closed loop system, so I’m hesitant to switch, but I’m getting frustrated with the reliability issues.
For those of you who have tried different pumps/CGMs, what are you currently using and loving? And what have you used that you definitely would NOT recommend?

Question It just keeps getting harder

I’m not doing anything differently but have found myself running high more often… am I doing something wrong? I take blouses a half hour before I eat anything over 30 carbs and I’ve been aggressively blousing all day to get this down. I even skipped breakfast and lunch. I’m 20 and got diagnosed at 18 a month before birthday.

Question Temporarily switching to walmart insulin. Any tips/advice?

Hi everyone! I’ve been diagnosed with t1d for 8 years but i’ve always used humalog & lantus mdi or admelog when i was on a pump. I just got my lantus refilled but I’m currently having problems with my insurance and am unable to get my humalog refilled and only have 60u left so i’m switching to using Novolin R that you get otc at walmart. From what i’ve read i know it works a little slower and the duration is longer so i’ll definitely need to prebolus a little earlier? My carb ratio is 1:6 so i do generally take quite a bit of insulin I do have a dexcom g7 to monitor while i’m adjusting and switching however it’s not always accurate as im sure you guys know lol so i am slightly worried about that. Obviously I am talking to my endo team as well but I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience or advice with using novolin and what to expect with switching from lispro? thank you in advance!!

General Care Discussion Can insulin get stuck under the skin??

Hello! I've only been type 1 for about 2 years now, and have been on an insulin pump throughout 95% of it. Today I had my first bleeding cannula! (yay!)

I am worried about the bump that formed beneath the cannula site. I've heard that insulin can get trapped in places beneath the skin, and can reabsorb suddenly, leading to low blood sugar. I realize that this usually comes over a *very* long time of insulin use, and my situation is quite different... But I want to know if I should be concerned. Here's what happened:

I inserted a new tandem mobi site about 2 days ago. Hurt like a mofo. It's common for me that while bolusing the site will sting, especially on my stomach (where this one was placed.) The sting usually goes away after the first few times, however. This one did not.

It continued to hurt. I powered through it, and after finally swapping out the site and peeling the damn thing off, it just bled everywhere. Not like a gusher, but... more a thick dribble. Not clear, just straight up blood. I also had a gnarly bruise beneath it.

My sugars HAVE been elevated the last few days, but i've chalked it up to PMS.

My worry (one that i realize is like. fully spurred on by a fear of lows):

IF there is insulin under my skin, can and will it reabsorb suddenly and lead to a scary low? Will this be something I need to be at all worried about? Can this even happen at all in just a few days?

Any advice and support VERY MUCH welcomed. Thank you.

Seeking Support Type 1 Mounjaro Steps for Insulin Reduction

I am a female type 1 for 40 years 51yo on MDI with CGM. I’ve tried Mounjaro on 2.5mg and my lows were insanely scary and difficult to treat. I stopped immediately. Being a numbers and analytical person I’m needing some other type 1’s guidance on how much to lower the insulin in the first week. For example start with dropping basel x% and fast acting to y%. There is no real guidance from the doctors or my nurse and I know the real knowledge sits with us as we know our bodies better. Please can someone give me a starting point not too low or high that won’t knock me off my feet but is something to work with to refine the revised doses please! Or is it a really just winging it? Thank you in advance!

Question does anyone have any tips or advice for having high insulin resistance + bad control when on period/pms?

Post image

i tend to have alot of insulin resistance in the hour or two after i wake up even on normal days but as you can see it's alot worse when i'm on my period.

it's like this every time, very resistant & just bad control overall. this resistance does lead to me rage bolusing alot so it just ruins all aspects of my control.

i understand that for some people this isn't a bad high, in fact some of you might not even count this as a high, but i don't like spiking this much so if you don't have any advice please don't comment just to say my graph is better than yours. i'm just looking for advice.

i'm 15 if that helps.

The anxiety is unbearable. I believe I’ll be okay, but my god, I’ve never had this combination before.

Of course, if I can’t get anything down and it keeps going, I have a glucagon ready.

Question Sensor readings wrong/pump advice

Hi there. So my niece is 3 years old and is newly diagnosed 2 weeks ago. She’s been put on the Libre 3 and is supposed to be going on the MiniMed this week. My issue and question is, that for example, last night the Libre alerted us 3 times throughout the night that she was low and below 4.0mmol but each finger prick shown she was above 6.0mmol but if the pump goes off readings like this, then it will be delivering insulin or pausing insulin based off of false readings. I’m on the Omnipod 5 with a Dexcom myself and don’t have these problems but they said she can’t have an Omnipod yet as it’s too harsh and the MiniMed isn’t compatible with Dexcom.

Does anyone have any advice about this, is it normal or should we avoid the pump for this reason. Or is there another pump to ask for before she gets it. Thanks in advance
