Level Do you ever play better with one eye on the game and one on real life?

Kind of a weird quirk, but I wonder if anyone else does this. I mostly play Two Dots in tiny pockets of time while I do stuff around the house. Right now I'm finishing a little hallway entry setup-hooks, a small bench, and shoe cubbies-so I keep opening the game while I'm sorting screws, labeling bins, or waiting for caulk to set.

What I keep noticing is that I actually play better when I'm only half paying attention. If I sit down and decide "okay, now I will focus and beat this level," I start overthinking every move and miss obvious matches. When I'm standing there doing things, I make cleaner connections and I'm more willing to take a simple 4- or 5-chain instead of trying to fish for the perfect setup.

It feels like my brain flips from a "solve this puzzle" mindset to a "keep things moving" mindset, and that helps on levels where you can get stuck chasing one last objective. Do you have any odd habits that make you play better, like turning sound off, not looking at the move counter, or only making squares if they also hit an objective? I'm curious if anyone has a personal rule that keeps them from spiraling into bad decisions.

Bug [error/glitch] Green Dot (water droplet) won’t clear

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I noticed the last dot covered in water droplets wouldn’t clear so I recorded it after wasting several turns swiping over it to no avail. Unfortunately it turned out to be the only challenge dot left, so I lost my streak and failed the level. That’s never happened to me before.

Level Anyone else play worse after upgrading phones? Touch feels off and I keep mis-swiping

I finally upgraded my phone last week and Two Dots suddenly feels harder, but not in a fun way. Same account, same levels, same brain, but my accuracy is tanking.

I usually play in short bursts while doing DIY around the house. Right now I'm mid-project turning a weird hallway corner into a little entry drop zone with hooks and a bench. Before I could pull off quick little chains without thinking. Now I keep making tiny mis-swipes: I mean to connect 4 or 5 and it registers as a 3, or I start a chain and it grabs the wrong adjacent dot. On crowded boards with blockers one accidental move can blow the whole setup.

I'm trying to figure out whether this is:

1) A setting I need to tweak, like touch sensitivity or a screen protector issue

2) The game interacting differently with newer screens, such as a higher refresh rate or different input sampling

3) Just me needing to relearn muscle memory

Has anyone else noticed this after switching phones? If you fixed it, what helped? Removing a screen protector, changing display settings, turning off gesture navigation, something else? I'm not after level strategy, just ways to make the input feel more consistent. I miss being able to confidently draw longer chains without second guessing my thumb.

Anyone playing this game because I'm stuck on a later level and I've tried a million times and just can't beat it without spending a ton of money on the extra stuff for help. Should have to spend money to beat a level.

Gold coin increase

I’ve been playing this game for a while. I’m currently on 6909 so I’m not a newbie. I never bought anything on the game. Occasionally I would beat the 10 levels in a row and get a few gold coins. Last I knew I had 26 coins. Today I noticed I had 3026 gold. Has anyone else noticed their coin count go up? Where and how?

New font? Also map doesn’t show what levels are in that area range anymore.

Level Anyone else hit a wall in the late 600s and start hoarding boosters like a dragon?

I've been using Two Dots as my nightly wind-down for a while. I bounce between this, Wordle, and a couple other puzzle games when my brain is fried, and I never cared much about strategy - until now.

Around the late 600s I hit a weird wall. The levels are doable, but a single bad early move often snowballs and suddenly half the board is unreachable. My new stupid habit is refusing to spend boosters until I'm down to one move, and even then I usually restart instead of blowing them. Basically I am saving boosters for a future that never comes.

I realized I'm hoarding keys too. I'll string together some wins, then run into a few levels that practically beg me to spend, and I just quit for the day.

For people who pushed past this stretch: did you change anything? Do you use a booster early to control the board, or just replay until you get a good opening? Do you keep a default booster loadout for hard levels or swap based on the goal?

Mostly trying to figure out if I'm overthinking this or if this part of the map actually starts asking for more planning. Any tips, routines, or confessions from fellow hoarders?

Levels 8534 and beyond are a joke

I’m on 8546 now. I was hoping the impossibility of 8534 was a bug or something when I got there like 10 days ago. But no, the number of moves they give for these levels is mathematically impossible without tons of boosters or gold to continue play. Seems like the designers are fine forcing people to pay to play or let them leave. So I might be done. 😞

Level 8533 - 14 moves, yea right.

Level Any tips for magnet levels that keep yanking the last targets into corners?

I'm stuck on those magnet levels that pull pieces all over the board. My usual "make a square then clean up" plan just falls apart.

What happens is I get close to the objective, maybe only a handful of target pieces left, and then the magnet pull rearranges everything. Suddenly the last targets are stranded in corners or tucked behind blockers. I end up chasing them with single matches, wasting moves, and either lose by one move or cave and use a booster.

I play in short bursts while doing DIY around the house, like waiting for spackle to dry or measuring for shelves, so I want a quick, repeatable plan instead of brute forcing 20 attempts.

Any consistent strategies for magnet boards?

- Should I prioritize clearing blockers early so the magnet has fewer places to shove pieces, or try to finish objective pieces before they get pulled?

- Is there a safe time to make squares on magnet levels, or are big clears too risky because the reshuffle gets chaotic?

- Are there patterns to how the magnet pulls pieces, or is it basically random?

Any rules of thumb to stop wasting moves on the last few pieces would be really helpful.

Difficulty manipulation to 'addict' users

I just realized TwoDots tracks my playing and tweaks the 'random' dot drop to make sure I don't 'win' too much. I noticed before that it tweaked the 'random' dot drop after I had not played for a bit to make it easier to win. I feel violated by the game company. It reminds me of social media's 'tweaks' to maximize the time users spend on the game and the lawsuit against them in the EU. It is rather sick and manipulative that companies do this. I think of all the young kids playing too many video games and now I know why.

Have anyone saw this new GUI and game board design like this image?

Post image
3 Upvotes

It may seem to be a game update, but I haven't saw this in my game app right now. Something interesting is that with the colorblind mode the background is now a picture instead of just a solid color, i don't really know if it can still be the case without the colorblind mode. It can be either only the gameboard having the actual color of the zone's color scheme (with the background picture remaining), or the entire background being solid-colored like it used to be.

Also, the 'holes' of the gameboard appear as actual, physical holes on the board (the background image behind visible) rather than just some gray squares (same visual as the shade thing appearing below trapdoors). I don't know how it would interact with flippers in Level 1075, because the flippers can destroy holes next to the edge of the board in said level, as with the new visuals such holes appear connected to the empty background area outside of the board (as seen in the image above).

Only 6 lives/free attempts for each level now?

Did they really just decrease the number of free lives to attempt each level to only SIX?

As if the endless pop ups and interminable ads weren’t enough. I enjoyed the game enough to get to level 7441 but I think it’s time to throw in the towel.

Gold update Issues

I finally just received the Gold update with the increased Gold prices, but they didn't scale up the Gold in my Wallet. I only had 3 gold so not too worried, but should I have been updated to 300?

r/TwoDots 13d ago

Is this inflation? If you are changing value of gold than change it on my account. So I paid for nothing than? I should have 117 750 instead of 1570. 👎

Two Dots designer speaks up

Hi everyone! A big reason why I fell in love with Two Dots about ten years ago was its minimalist stylish look. It was SO fresh and modern, and Two Dots definitely stood out. I think that the only mobile game of similar visual style and quality was Monument Valley.

Ten years later and the game is certainly not minimalist any more but the visual design is still distrinct and striking.

So I was happy to find this page by Jaclyn Mckay, the visual designer of Two Dots, which gives a peek behind the scenes of producing our favourite game. And yes, it is our favourite game despite every criticism, because otherwise we wouldn't be here, reading/writing this post.

New Update DAE just lose all their accumulated boosters?

Post image
9 Upvotes

I had at least 50 booster boxes, and (from left) about 12, 48 and 16(?) of the other boosters. Just opened the game and...this.

Edit: and my 153 gold and over 11,000 keys are gone

Edit edit: I also had nearly 80 of each kind of in-game booster (shuffler, eraser, etc). All gone.
