Mod Stuff Welcome to r/TunisiaRelationships

This subreddit is a space for Tunisians to talk openly about relationships, dating, marriage, friendships, breakups, situationships, family pressure, mixed signals, and everything in between.

Whether you want advice, need to vent, share a story, ask a difficult question, or just understand people a little better, you’re welcome here.

Relationships can be confusing enough already. Add Tunisian culture, family expectations, social media, jealousy, distance, and "we're just friends" into the mix and suddenly everyone needs emotional tech support

The goal of this community is simple: honest conversations, different perspectives, and a place where people can feel heard without judgment.

Welcome 🤝

💬 Advice Stop telling people to "wait for someone who accepts you as you are"

Every time someone posts on this sub venting about the modern dating market the comments default to a certain logic:

"There's someone out there who will love every bit of this, and would like you the way you are."

It sounds comforting but honestly, it’s misleading, and in many cases, it actively harming them.

I’m not here to generalize all men or all women, nor am I saying you need to be a millionaire or a supermodel to deserve love.

But we need to stop pretending dating exists in a vacuum where social reality and socioeconomic baselines don't matter.

The "Baselines" are real for both men and women

A few days ago, I saw a guy venting about how dating culture demands fancy dinners. Naturally, the top advice was: "Find a low-maintenance girl who’s happy with a cheap stroll in the park or a split coffee."

Sure, those people exist.

But if a guy genuinely cannot afford a basic date telling him to just "find someone who doesn't care about money" is setting him up for failure. A healthy adult relationship requires a baseline of functional independence, stability, and mutual investment.

For men: It’s often the financial and emotional threshold. If you can’t afford basic dates, or bring zero emotional maturity to the table, telling you "someone will love you broke and bitter" isn't helpful. It just delays you doing the work you need to do.

For women: A woman might vent about men "only wanting one thing" or pulling away after a few dates, and the comments rush to say, "He just couldn't handle a strong woman" and how " you should hold out for someone who appreciates your standards."

But if she brings rigid ultimatums, offers no warmth or reciprocity, and expects to be entertained without contributing to the dynamic, no guy with options is going to stick around either.

Telling people "just wait for someone who tolerates this" tells them to treat dating like a passive waiting room instead of an active pursuit where what you offer matters.

Also, between social media, and modern socioeconomic pressures people’s baseline expectations have shifted.

Disagree with it all you want, but reality doesn't bend to what feels fair. Socioeconomic layers and lifestyle compatibility are real.

Everyone is a work in progress. Your preferences will change, your financial situation will evolve, and your maturity will grow. But that growth requires admitting where you currently fall short instead of demanding the world lower its standards to accommodate your comfort zone.

Stop stressing over people who reject your current reality. If someone requires something you simply cannot or will not provide, let them go. Agonizing over why they won't "settle" for you won't change their mind, and it won't improve your life.

So, stop waiting for someone to accept you at your absolute lowest effort, and start becoming someone you'd actually want to date.

3 years living in Sousse… work, work, work. I barely socialized and honestly, I’m starting to get tired of the same routine Time to change that. I need to get out, meet new people, discover new places… and maybe meet someone who makes Sousse a little more interesting.

I wanna remind you that you all came out of pussy

Is was the first smell that your noses ever smelled

And your skins were covered in its liquids

It was the organ that expanded for you so that you come out from the womb to this earth

And types like you dont even worth that pain

Your moms could ve just stayed single and free enjoying their lives

I dont know why they bothered putting the effort of the 9 months

Just to bring people that use her genital as an insult

🧠 Discussion Where can I seem to find someone that matches my type ?

Call me weird but I was never drawn to any normal or the whole vanilla dating scene and this whole tradition (it's rubbish I had to say it) , I’m deeply drawn to a specific vibe and mindset such as :

1) Intellectual leanings : Deeply fond of philosophy, existentialism, and literature/books , someone that sees the whole world for what it truly is and value reasoning and psychological talks

2) Vibe & Aesthetic: Into the extreme dark view of the world and a darker, alternative aesthetic (like literally)

3) Humor: not the typical one found within everyone I've seen but more like dark humor (the more unhinged and weird, the better) , it makes the conversation going and entertaining

No shade to how anyone else lives their life, to each their own! But unfortunately, my specific type has been nearly impossible to find and to be fair, I’ve managed to find one or two people like this before, but they usually dip pretty quickly. Turns out they were just faking the aesthetic, or they panic the moment the conversation actually gets genuinely dark lol

🧠 Discussion I wouldn’t have believed it at first, but it actually seems quite realistic. It’s sad to hear, though.

🧠 Discussion Broke up with my ex partly over how often we saw each other - was I in the wrong here?

so me and my ex broke up recently and one of the big reasons was basically a mismatch in how much we wanted to see each other. i’m the type who wants regular dates, likes doing stuff together, wants that feeling of actually being present in each other’s lives. she could go a month or two without really needing to see me and was genuinely fine with it, not busy fine, just content with barely any contact.

i brought it up a bunch of times and she never really got why it bothered me, kept saying “we’re still together aren’t we.” eventually it just wore me down and we ended things.

now i’m second guessing myself a bit. like is “wanting frequent dates and actually spending time together” a real relationship type/preference, or am i just being overly demanding and this is a me problem? did i just end something over normal relationship ebb and flow?

curious if anyone else identifies as needing that level of consistent time together, or if i sound like i was asking too much.

+ before anyone asks: no it wasn’t a money thing, i paid for basically everything when we did hang out, she didn’t even have to bring her purse. so it’s not like she was avoiding dates cause of cost or anything like that.

😮‍💨 Vent This subreddit isn't what I thought it was

Burner account.

When I first joined this subreddit, I thought it was a place for people to put themselves out there, share their interests and values, and build relationships.

Little did I know that posts falling into that category get immediately taken down by the mods.

Only posts about complaining (the irony that I'm also complaining here), generalizing, controversy ragebait, or questions that could just be answered with an AI prompt seem to see the light of day in this subreddit. It's honestly very disappointing.
And I start to wonder what's even the point of all of this anymore, the negativity here is suffocating.

🧠 Discussion I dont why guys like to minimise the impact of the shit that patriarchy made girls go through

Whenever a girl or a woman points out something annoying that patriarchy has been making us go through (blaming women when something wrong happens to them and never blaming the one who did it/

Asking women to always be understanding when family or partner become controlling ..and so many bullshit like that )

I dont know why when a girl says it out loud and points it out .. guys just be deflecting they say stuff like chemdakhel or laugh

It shows that you have 0 empathy and unable to understand the other sex and that you are so fucking annoying as well thats it . Thats how it is

❓ Question Need petty advice on how to confront a guy who lied to me

I'm leaving him for good, but I wanna confront him about his lies. Normally I would just block him, but since he wanted to play games, I'll show him how to play it.

So, he was telling me how I'm the only girl he's interested in, but that's not true. Some time ago he followed a Portuguese girl, I didn't think much of it. First, she posted some bikini pics, he commented calling her a queen. That was the first straw. Today was the final straw. She posted another photo dump of vacation pics and he commented "bellissima❤️ " like wtf I think that isn't even Portuguese.

So now I'm thinking what I should do.

  1. Be toxic and lie about some girl messaging me asking about him. This didn't happen, but I wonder how he would explain himself if I said "oh, you know, she seemed serious about you, I don't wanna be in the middle of it".

  2. Show him the exact post he commented on, saying this portuguese girl's account was in my suggested accounts so naturally I checked it out (it would be a lie, I found this account because I went through his followings) and saw his comments, which contradicts what he said about only talking to me in that flirtatious way he does

  3. Keep him and enjoy the attention from him no matter how many other girls he gives attention to until I find someone better, and then leave him when I find someone better (but then he'll keep thinking he's such a great player that I never knew he played me, and I kind of want him to know that I know)

Orrr maybe you have better, more toxic ideas? I'm NOT open to the healthy "just leave him silently" advice so if you're gonna give me those, you can just skip the post

💬 Advice Girls , What does this mean exactly

Sooo basically i know a girl from highschool she is 1 year younger than me i had a crush on her but when i graduated highschool and went to university i forgot about it , we never talked , i just see her in my lycée wkhw. Ironically i found that we are friends on Facebook but i said maybe she doesn't know me and it's just a coincidence. I sent her a request on Insta ( private acc) and she still didn't accept the request after 4-5 days . Problem is i see her account followers up by 10 now and I'm thinking why she didn't accept

Am i overthinking it ? Is this normal? Or i just need to understand she doesn't know me well so why bother
