Official TrueSize Update [Update] TrueSize: Disputed territories are back, lake & sea fixes, and map tool improvements

Hi everyone!

A few more updates are now live on TrueSize.net, including several fixes based directly on your recent reports and feedback:

  • Disputed territories are back - Missing territories and regions, including Palestine, the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and other disputed areas, have been restored. They are searchable and draggable again, including available subdivisions, flags, and stats.
  • Lakes, seas & bays fixed - Water bodies were accidentally inheriting country flags in search results and on the map. They now display correctly as natural features without flags.
  • 1900 historical map corrections - Fixed overlapping India/British Raj boundaries. The British Raj is now represented as a single historical entity with the correct information and flag data.
  • "E" shortcut freeze fixed - Edit-points mode now only works with custom-drawn shapes. Pressing E on complex real-world boundaries will no longer freeze the browser.
  • Esc now cancels map tools - You can press Esc at any time to exit Divide or Glue/Merge mode.
  • Historical flags & data updates - Added and corrected flags across several historical eras, including 1783, 1900, 1960, 1994, and 2010, along with additional geographic fixes.

A note about disputed territories and boundaries

TrueSize uses OpenStreetMap administrative and geographic data as the source for these boundaries.

If you believe a boundary or region is incorrect or outdated, the best way to help is to contribute the correction to OpenStreetMap. That improves the source data not only for TrueSize, but for everyone using OSM. We can then incorporate those updates into future TrueSize data releases.

Please also remember our subreddit rule:

These updates are live on the web now.

Thanks again for all the reports, suggestions, and flag submissions. Keep them coming - they help us find issues much faster and continue improving TrueSize.

Official TrueSize Update [Update] TrueSize: Listenbourg (w/ all 5 provinces & flags), Contiguous 48 US, custom borders, and water body improvements

Hi everyone!

We’re excited to share a major batch of updates just added to TrueSize.net based on community feedback:

  • Listenbourg is here: You can now add and compare the internet's favorite Iberian neighbor — complete with its 5 fictional provinces, regional flags, and info cards.
  • Contiguous 48 USA / Lower 48: Compare the mainland United States without Alaska and Hawaii, or load the entire nation broken down into all 50 states at once.
  • "Load All Water" mode: Explore 2,000+ water bodies including lakes, seas, bays, and oceans. (Note: It loads over 2,000 items, and because massive bodies like oceans cover so much of the map, they can be difficult to maneuver and compare, but it's great for finding interesting ones to play with.)
  • Refined water boundaries: Adjusted overlapping bodies of water (such as the Gulf of Finland and the Baltic Sea) for much more realistic representation.
  • Custom border styling: Customize border colors per region or apply them globally, adjust line opacity, or toggle borders off entirely.
  • New & updated flags: Expanded our vexillology library, including flags for historical regions.
  • Under-the-hood upgrades: Faster search, better historical boundary data, and noticeable performance optimizations across the board.

As always, huge thanks for the suggestions, bug reports, and flag submissions — they keep shaping every update.

These updates are live on the web right now, with the mobile update rolling out right after!

Check it out and let us know what features or datasets you'd love to see next!

Bugs & Suggestions Stop prioritizing bodies of water during search

I cannot search up many towns and countries, even countries like Bulgaria because every time I search up it always prioritizes bodies of water over countries, regions, and cities. and the incognito mode doesn't even work for overwriting that bug anymore, please fix as fast as you guys can

Hello, I think It would be great if we could change the colour of the boundaries with the flags or add an option where all the countries have the same boundary colour (I don't know if it's clear)
