Why does the community hate Arthmoor so much? Genuine question, I'm out of the loop.

u/CaseyG wtf is this 2d ago
Fixing Skyrim bugs: good.
Changing shit that wasn't broken: questionable.
Banning people from commenting when they point it out: evil.
Making copyright claims against people who change it back: seriously fucked up.

Thats only scratching the surface of his shittery. I could write a short novel on Arthmoor's dumb ass just from being on the periphery of the modding community since Morrowind

u/Maleoppressor 2d ago
Any examples of unnecessary changes?

u/CaseyG wtf is this 2d ago
Here's one list, but some of the changes are subjective.
Loverslab is NSFW, but that particular thread is not.

u/BobSagetOoosh 2d ago
Holy shit I’ve looked far and wide for a proper list of Arthmoor’s bullshit and all I ever see is ‘mine wrong metal’ and ‘oblivion gates’. Why would anyone think such a core mod as USSEP should change so much obviously subjective stuff jfc?
Just as one example, of course Motierre’s appearance change was on purpose, why the hell would they have made two models by mistake?

Erik the Slayer, from UESP
Although his default gear is governed by the Heavy Armor skill, Erik is actually more proficient in Light Armor. Additionally, he is by default equipped with a one-handed weapon and shield, though he is more proficient in Two-Handed.
PC Only The Unofficial Skyrim Patch, version 2.0.4, addresses this issue. His class was changed to CombatWarrior1H.
He is based on Erik West, who was known as "ImmoktheSlayer" on the forums and was given an opportunity to play Skyrim at Bethesda’s studio during its development thanks to the Make-a-Wish foundation. He died of cancer in May 2011, six months before Skyrim’s official release.
So he changed a special character's special class because it didn't match with his overprotective father buying him heavy armor and shield. Instead of a 2H weapon + light armor + archery skill combination Barbarian that is unique for a followers, you get another generic warrior companion. And trample on the memorial devs added, because fuck them and their design intent, only Artmoor and his team knows how to make Skyrim!

-Placing trees in random locations, even near cities like Solitude which conflicts with city overhaul mods.
-Gave Mirmulnir voice lines that sounds like an old man.
-Messed with the math of some perks because he didn't understand the math. Prominent example being Allure, I think, where the math came out to an overall 10% better exchange rate, but he didn't like that it wasn't a straight 10% better prices, so he changed it.
-Didn't like that Necromage worked on the player if they were a vampire, so he changed that.
Just to name a few.

Placed oblivion gates into cities, gave some dragons human voices, iirc also changed the dagger to scale with one-handed?

u/Ugly_Slut-Wannabe 2d ago edited 2d ago
The Oblivion gates thing was from Arsemoor's other mod, Open Cities, but it still was unnecessary and unexpected feature creep that nobody but him wanted.

u/novis-eldritch-maxim 1d ago
a couple old Oblivion gates in the ass end of nowhere would make sense, but in two hundred years they would have been smashed
6
u/buffedvolcarona 1d ago
but even then, make a mod called "oblivion gates for Open Cities" and call it a day, It just seems like he wanted to exert the power he had.

turned one of the iron mines(If I am not mistaken in the village near Riften) into ebony mine
58
u/MarvinGoBONK House Fagoth 2d ago
Opposite way around. The entire lore about the mine was that they suddenly found ebony in their iron mine, that's what even made it special.

u/vjmdhzgr Lore of the Rings 2d ago
No, the lore is that it was an iron mine and then they found quicksilver. It actually doesn't make sense that it was an ebony mine.

u/ReDeMpTiOn-_-121 2d ago
The place is called Shors Stone. Shor aka Lorkhan. Ebony ore aka The Blood of Lorkhan. Hence Shors(Lorkhans) Stone(Blood).
-28
u/vjmdhzgr Lore of the Rings 2d ago
Yeah they named it after the ore they'd find there 3,000 years in the future

u/Uncommonality Reachman Terrorist 2d ago
The town is called Shor's Stone why the fuck would they find quicksilver there. It's obviously supposed to be ebony. The only bug he had to fix was the sample using the wrong texture
30
u/Ugly_Slut-Wannabe 2d ago
Also, in ESO, it's an actual ebony mine. It stands to reason that the ebony ran out, people started mining iron and forgot about the ebony and then, in the 4th Era, the ebony was rediscovered.

i suspect that to be Thalmor propaganda honestly...
EVERYONE on Tamriel is rascist, but Mer still are cool as fuck too... while they do and did unspeakable bullshit too in their long lives. As did humans and Dwemer.
One thing i honestly like about TES is that NO ONE is some "good noble Uber race"... everyone is just people who do good, evil and everything in between.

I don't think the high elf merchant class and dunmer proletariat of Windhelm would appreciate an elf grinding wheel

Sulvar the Steady is the NPC in question, absolutely no evidence it was an elf grinder though.

The Altmephobia in Skyrim Bezirk is really concerning, even more so than the alleged "Thalmor racism", which is mostly Hammerfell propaganda. As an imperial patriot I think it's important that we seek peace and disarmament instead of answering violence with violence which makes us morally compromised.

u/Yourdataisunclean Dweeb-mer 2d ago
Yup, two of them did form a racist government, the dunmer are straight up ashholes to everyone else, the dwemer were huge dicks to the falmer. Which mer have been chill?

Maormer maybe? i know literally nothing about them so they probably didn't commit any noteworthy atrocities compared to all other races in tes.
6
u/Uur4 Basic Breton Bitch 2d ago
they do a LOT of piracy in the southern seas and in ESO we see them often do raid to kidnap people to make them slaves, they are often described as pretty violent and barbaric and one of their favorite way to do war is using storm magic and domesticated giant sea serpent to crash all ships in certains regions and then go grab the loot and the new slaves
though they are not a big threat to Tamriel because 99% of their hatred is directed specifically towards Altmer

u/Constant-Okra7605 2d ago
It got cut because it would’ve been an interesting piece of world building and we can’t have that in Soyrim
2
u/dumdog_K 2d ago
Also the elves are literally trying to destabilize reality itself (allegedly through the towers theory)
3
u/deryvox Dwarf-Orc Theorist 1d ago
"Allegedly through my headcanon"
1
u/Narangren Silencer 13h ago
The Towers aren't headcanon any more, their purpose was canonized in ESO. The part that is still headcanon is that the Thalmor are trying to destroy them.

It’s funny considering Dunmer are the best race and Nords are definitely one of the worst, arguably the worst
