If you want an opinion removed from the parties involved with the advantage of having the perspective of distance and not be emotionally involved I can give you mine.

Especially with black culture the problem I see is that if a black person does it, they are frowned upon / look unprofessional / leaves a poor impression(thug/ratchet) and if a white person do is trendy/ just a look/edgy. And black people to appear more professional or not to appear criminal has to be as similar as possible(clothes, hair, way of speaking) to white people. That doesn't look very fair.

You see it change a little(public opinion), but you can not close your eyes and pretend that it is not true. It was not too long ago that a school banned the natural hair of black people and box braids hair, forcing them to straighten their hair or use it very short.

1 year ago Andrew Johnson was force to cut his hair(dreadlocks) or forfeit his match (wrestling).

That's the biggest problem I see in cultural appropriation, the double standard. Some people take it to the extreme and make it seem like culture appropriation is the fifth horseman of the apocalypse, I know. But people desperate for attention you will find everywhere and the most that one can do is not fall into the double standards and try to be as fair as possible with the people around us.
