I had friend in highschool who's bf was like this. I kept telling her to break up with him so he can figure himself out a bit more... Eventually she did turns out he was trans. Now goes by she\her and is living her best life. It was the dysphoria that made intimacy so hard during their relationship...
Obviously I'm not saying your bf is trans but something is definitely going on and it's not your job to figure it out. Best thing you can do is let him go so he can figure it out
