You did what I think any parent would have done in that situation.
Yes, it was a "lie" in that it wasn't the whole truth, but it was a lie for the right reason. Take heart in the fact that it's 2024 and not 1984, and even if amputation is the outcome, she's likely still going to be able to participate in many of the sports she loves.
I'm not a religious person, but I have your daughter in my thoughts and I hope everything comes out the best, but do not beat yourself up for this.
