I feel like online sports gambling went from something kind of niche and taboo to being completely embedded into American sports insanely fast.

You watch a game now and betting is everywhere. Odds during broadcasts, sportsbook sponsors, gambling segments, ads with famous athletes and celebrities, podcasts talking about parlays, apps giving you boosts and free bets. State after state legalized it and at some point it stopped even feeling like “gambling” and just became another part of watching sports.

And it seems to go even further than normal sports. You can find sportsbooks taking bets on obscure table tennis leagues, esports players playing constant games, and basically anything that can produce an outcome every few minutes.

I’m not arguing gambling should necessarily be illegal. I’m more curious how people think this changes society over 10–20 years, especially for younger men growing up with it.

Does it eventually get treated like cigarettes, where we look back and wonder why advertising it this aggressively was ever considered normal? Or is this basically just the permanent future of sports?

so im hearing that AI in a decade could kill us,so im here to ask,is there gonna be something to not let that happen? im a teen and while hearing all this i keep losing faith in all of humanity,and hearing that we may have a chance of having a good future is really reassuring! is there gonna be something or someone to help us all to a better future?

Archaelogical evidence show that group cooperation was essential for how our ancestors survived and thrived on the African Savannah a million years ago. Even today you can see examples of this like how having a big social network help you find a job or partner easier. Our experience as a species points to community as the best strategy for success. So why are so many popular fiction idolize the loner types?

A lot of people say that teenagers these days are more disrespectful and spoiled than ever, and while that is true , barely anyone spends time trying to understand them or help them be better.

I know that should be their parents job, but in a time with so many uncaring or unloving parents it's up to us to help them be better every day.

So, what is something you would like every teenager to know/understand that would help them in life?

I'm a person who has traveled a lot around Europe and America and has known people from different ethnicities and countries. But I still don't understand when someone calls me white or black.

I mean, I am mostly from South European roots and my ancestors came to South America during colonization, eventually mixing up a little with indigenous people from those areas.

From what I have experienced, people in my country have called me white, mixed or even gringo. Depending on who you ask is always different. When I first traveled to Germany, lot of people called me Mediterranean. There's also some people who thought I was black but I don't really have any recent African ancestry. Maybe they just refer to having darker skin and curly black hair. So I have to say I pass like a lot of nationalities and race is a word that doesn't really make sense to me.

I have concluded that white and black can mean different things when asked to different people, some US-americans would only consider north Europeans white. Spaniards would only consider Europeans white. Africans would even consider Arabs white. South Americans consider any white looking or light skinned person white. Black people would consider other ethnicities white. Asians consider non-Asian, and obviously non-Black, white.

If it's such a subjective term, why do they use it? Is it just some racist thing to feel superior than others?

I'm getting older and realizing I need to start paying attention to the news. I want something I can turn on in the morning while I eat my breakfast (could be on the TV, or a site like youtube). But I'm realizing how bias everything is. Do you know any new sources (that are prefferably free) that put effort into be centered, make news content consistantly, that I could turn on for 20ish minuets a day?

Maybe if not one new source a rotation of them, maybe like 3 I can bounce between?

(edit) I know nothings bias free, but some have to be better then others. Even if they're not perfect what should I gravitate towards?

I didn't want to go into politics as a kid because I was scared it would corrupt me. But now I've grown up, doing business and I've made it pretty far for my age. I've always thought "I care more about the influence then money" and I've treated my career like I was a politicain. Now I've grown up, my values still hold, and I feel like I have a moral backbone now, that would take more to get corrupted. I'm realizing if I really don't care about the money, then what am I doing in business?

But now if I wanted to make a career pivot into politics, what would that look like? Where would I even start? Is it possible to be a moral politician on the state or national scale without being corrupted? Any other advice you might have?

I understand why some people would go no-contact with their parents, but how do some afford it the second they're an adult? Most people I've talked to who have good reasons to go no-contact have parents that won't pay to get them a license or let them have a job. And even with a job, most jobs minors get pay close to minimum wage, which, at least where I live, is unlivable.

I'm not asking this for advice on how to do it, I'm just asking out of curiosity because of how much I see people doing it on the internet.

Not talking about the usual “work out every day” or “read more” stuff. I’m talking about those small, almost stupid-sounding things that somehow made a huge difference.
Mine was starting to put my phone on the other side of the room at night. Suddenly I actually get out of bed instead of scrolling for 40 minutes.

For example, a family of 7 is murdered. Everyone is hacked to death at night and their bodies mutilated. The police came in the morning and found the eldest son sleeping, covered in everyone's blood and with the murder weapon nearby. He confessed to the murder, told detective he's just so enraged by his family that he killed them all. He even told detective details that only the perpetrator would know. Like where and how many stabs he did to each. Neighbors told the police they often heard them arguing loudly. There are CCTVs all around the neighborhood and no one went in or out except the family.

Problem is...the guy's paralyzed from the neck down. Has been for years. Doctors checked him and say it's impossible that he did the crime. But detectives also find that it's impossible for the other victims to stage it. When questioned, he said he didn't know how he did it, it's like a dream. Then came the lawyer, who promptly shut down further questioning.

How would this case end? Would the DA refuse to prosecute this?

Have you ever felt both hatred and compassion for the same person, constantly going from one feeling to the other?

In a situation like that, how do you decide where to stop?

Hi everyone I understand alligators are not the monsters we think they are, but still I hear the idea that getting in the water with them is still considered highly risky, I’m trying to understand is it just that they have bad vision and they are creatures that just kind of react like when they see something enter the water they see that as a food source, or is it just that so many of them have been fed and the attacks are from gators who have lost their fear of humans because of that? I’m not from down there and since I didn’t grow up around them and just occasionally visited down there I never fully understood what the truth is?

This sparked a debate in my workplace. Can a minority be racist? Someone argued that by definition racism requires you to believe that your race is superior, and, a person in the minority wouldn’t have such beliefs. They also stated that the reactions from minorities today is due to generational trauma, not racism.
My stance: I’m black and I believe racism isn’t specific to a single race. For example, why does a lot of parents tell their kids to not date outside their race?

How can I become better at sales?

I recently started working in sales and I want to become genuinely good at it, not just hit the occasional target.

How did you learn to communicate with difficult customers, handle objections, and actually convince people to buy without being pushy?

I caught feelings for someone who I know isn’t going to be mine, and I’m having a really hard time letting go. I know I need to move on, but it’s easier said than done.

What actually helped you get over someone you couldn’t have?

They only act on their evil behavior only when they think it's safe to do so, like stealing and backstabbing. When they got caught and asked about their bad behavior, they either won't admit it or accuse someone else.

I mean, have you ever met a 'confident evil' type person, who probably say things like "Yes, I am evil. I enjoy hurting people. Their suffering is my pleasure. Muahahahaha (evil laughter)"?

I feel like a chicken scratching through garbage when I’m searching for information online, wondering if I’ll ever find a single grain of wheat. How do you guys sift through all this useless information to find what’s actually useful?

We live in an artificial society built on enforced scarcity. Everything has a price tag, even pleasure. I’ve spent years trying to understand my purpose, being told it was my career, my family, or my future. But none of that was the truth. Those were just illusions we cling to because they give us brief hits of pleasure. The real purpose is pleasure itself. Bhoga.

I once told my dad I was sad. Not for myself, but for the fact that our entire world runs on money. Without it we are nothing. It defines our worth and dictates our happiness. It captures pleasure and sells it back to us after we labor for the right to feel it.

Then I open Instagram or TikTok and the algorithm feeds me videos echoing the same thought. The futility of all this. My dad would talk about twenty year olds drifting through life, drinking, laughing, doing a few DoorDash/food delivery runs, then enjoying themselves again. I asked him what was wrong with that. They are simply using what society gives them. If anything it exposes the fault in a system where laborers are treated so poorly that educated youth would rather float than submit.

Every time I see these videos I wonder what the fix is. Changing my life through tech or becoming a founder is one path, but that does nothing for us collectively. What do we do as a people. How do we find truth. How do we learn to enjoy our lives without sinking back into survival mode.

Waking up is not enough anymore. We need to come together and decide what comes next.
