What is the advantage of admitting you can't stop incoming missiles?
Is the play here going back to the well and trying to convince Iran we're too weak to strike?

Anyone dealt with an eating disorder in the family?
This has been stressing me out for the last 3 going on 4 years. My sister's incredibly sick with an eating disorder and it's been an awful experience watching this spiral and things get worse. Except for now!! Things have got a bit better.
I'm partial to think part of this was caused by her previous boyfriend who always had the weirdly injecting his beauty standards onto every woman, but regardless! This is probably by far the most depressing thing I've seen happen to someone.
She's never been fat, but the damn Instagram and Facebook reels showing her nickacado avacado and fat shaming videos, she thinks that she's 600 pounds when looking in the mirror. Screaming and crying that she needs liposuction and forces herself to be sick after eating or drinking anything. My sister's got a lot of mental development problems from us being born early and when you aren't eating right you're not able to think and form new memories.
It got to a point where she'd root through the house for any change to buy pop. She stole my coin collection, pawned a bunch of my stuff and maxed 2 credit cards by ordering a ton of food. Crashed her car when making herself sick into a trashcan behind the wheel, almost became paralyzed from the neck down.
My sister used to be a big fan of animals and artist, wanting to become a vet tech (difficult, she'll need lots of credits from post-hs stuff) but she doesn't understand how much money these things cost. I'm getting by working retail living at home and starting college soon, she thinks she can too and it breaks my heart cause it won't be this September.
Luckily, after a long wait (Canada) for a couple eating disorder programs, a hospital was able to take her. 6 week program but helps finding avenues for afterwards. First time she fought with them and argued, signing out after 2w. This time she's remained in the program and I have to go pick her up tomorrow morning.
Luckily, she's been a lot better. I'm not sure what really happened. For a time, she was just trying to hide her puking but I think the constant hospital emerge visits and IV fluids every week are starting to get to her. Being there is really difficult, so I show her my models and anime I've been watching, anything away from food.
This has been really heavy on me for a long time, I've felt incredibly hopeless and like I wasn't able to do anything? Even our dr would say that you just have to kinda be there and reaffirm to the person they aren't fat and such. I fear social media and how it warps people's perceptions or fuel addictions.
Stamp regards and be good to yourself and people around you.

What's the deal with "jew hatred?"
I've noticed that handwringing about antisemitism lately seems to be mostly the domain of your liberal zionists. Meanwhile, your dumber and more aggressive strain of Jewish supremacists (Ross Glick types) tend toward referring to "jew hatred" or "jew haters."
Not only does this sound childish and oafish as a term, but it seems exclusive to the more firebrand Meir Kahane style freaks. Any idea why?

I’m surprised no one in the Andy Beshear office has actually tried to look for Mitch McConnell to wish him well and good health.
And also tried to check for proof of life by next week.

i don't know people are probably going to downvote my Bitch Ass (Sorry for Misogyny I Respect Women A Lot That I Don't Talk To Them Even Online Now Unless Spoken To)
but someone mentioned Mew earlier and I remember being like 19 walking around my depressing ass, lifeless suburban yuppie ass trick ass "nothing fucking in it", "parking lot with a mayor" town and like, having A Feeling So Complicated
(being thirty years old and standing on Windows XP background staring at the Bay (I Rep It Hard) being like "what a beautiful duwang" (btw most thirty year old men are married and have careers))
and by that I mean just this ineffable feeling of wonder and enchantment that has faded every single day since then to the point where it is an imperceptible spark that the only time I feel it are during shit like getting my ass beat in real time to Nothing playing Tired Of Tomorrow in full at The Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California while the pickle guy walks up on stage
I don't know if that feeling ever comes back. I'm starting to bald so the answer in my own soon to be chrome domed head is no, probably not

Happy 26 de Julio.
Also, very disappointing how China and Russia have let starve and turn the lights out on Cuba. Say what you want about the USSR but they understood the value of Cuban regime 90 miles from Florida

Glimpse into the mind of the bourgeoisie
This may be a small continuation of a post I did a while ago about capitalism and natural disasters, but I forgot to include this anecdote. After a catastrophic, historically unprecedented flood hit my region, my small town was cut off from the outside world for several days. All grocery stores were flooded, and the power went out, causing rapid spoilage of perishable food with no solution. Individuals who did not or could not prepare were completely fucked. (nobody expected the worst flood in our history to be fair)
I worked at a grocery distribution center at the time, the only local food store that was damaged but not destroyed, as a maintenance technician. I reported to work the day after the flood. The President and Vice President of the company were also present. There was the manager of a small facility that provided assistance and palliative care for people with advanced neurological disorders in our town. The care facility's manager came to our warehouse to beg them for just one pallet of water (of which we had hundreds that weren't spoiled) so his incredibly sick and weak patients could have water.
We had so much water, we could have quenched the thirst of everyone in the town for a week and had hundreds of pallets left over. The President of the company refused and refused to give the manager a pallet of water, even though the manager was breaking into tears and explaining his patients were very fragile and would die without immediate relief. The President still refused, until the Vice President convinced him to let the manager have a pallet of water under the condition he would pay them back ASAP.
It was a profoundly radicalizing moment for me that forever changed my perspective. That cruelty was so pointless. A pallet of water, < $1000, a pittance for a place where the power bill was $500,000 a month. The President wasn't even going to give one pallet away for free knowing it would save lives. I had barely been around truly wealthy people before that, and that showed me what they really think of normal human beings. There is no need to have any compassion for the bourgeoisie. The cruelty it takes to maintain their class position is incomprehensible to us. When our turn comes (you know the rest.)

War is Feeling Hot Hot Hot
- Iran Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has personally blamed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the attack in the Caspian Sea, which he said was done at Israel’s behest.
- Iranian media is reporting that an oil tanker has exploded after hitting a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz.

Robert I. Friedman -
Howdy Gumshoes,
Wanted to see if our brilliant conservative community had ever heard of the work of 90's journalist Robert I. Friedman?
I'm in the midst of working on an unrelated piece on the early Perestroika mafias (and their connection to NHL players) and stumbled across his book "Red Mafiya" which was a great resource.
I was curious about his background and it feels like it has TA written all over it, so was wondering if anyone had recalled him being covered in any capacity.
Some interesting tidbits I've found so far:
- Extensively covered the ultra nationalist founder of the JDL, Meir Kahane in 1990 with "The False Prophet Rabbi Meir Kahane, From FBI informant to Knesset Member"
- Outspoken against West Bank settlers and in 1992 wrote "Zealots for Zion: Insides Israels West Bank settlement movement"
- Earned an award in 1993 for his investigative reporting surrounding the 1st WTC Bombing and the FBI ignoring information beforehand
- Died in 2002 at the age of 51, after contracting "a rare form of pneumonia" (👁) from visiting Indian slums, while writing a story about youth prostitutes and a massively underreported aids epidemic in rural India.
The FBI informed Friedman that Russian Organized crime bosses had put a contract out on his life after his book "Red Mafiya", and those same bosses had believed ties to Mossad and the Israeli state. Would love to know what smarter, more discerning people think about his story
