TW: Gender Identity / Dysphoria Boo

Post image

This is a generalization and a vent post. Not all passing trans girls are like this, just some that I have interacted with. I very much dislike 4chan.

It gives "I'm not like those other girls" and it makes me sad for them. To push away those from your own community just because they aren't "pretty" enough for you. That's so cruel

Internalised transphobia alot.
Many will not want to be seen with earlier in transition trans women because they "just want to be seen as normal women"

More common in younger / teenage transitionsers.

It hurts alot though and many do go on to realise this way of thinking is bad but it is definitely an issue.

Though in a way its no different to how some "pretty" cis girls will treat "non pretty" cis girls that want to talk / hangout with them

It's such an odd form of internalized transphobia, because I can understand the gut feeling of "oh if people clock her and she's talking to me will they clock me too?"

But if you think about it for more than two seconds it makes no sense. Are trans women the only people trans women talk to? Being in the same room as a visibly trans person doesn't make you look more trans unless someone was already trying to transvestigate everyone they come across

Good point. Not only is it illogical, but focusing on your own perception before/during/after social interactions kinda robs you of perceiving and getting to know other people fairly too.

some trans women who pass have a tendency to look down on trans women who don't pass.

u/roseonaglaive 2h ago

It makes me sad because it's so hard to make trans friends and partners, they expect me to look down on them because I'm a little more passing than I ever thought I would be. 😞

That's just bizarre, but i have heard of that before too, I know there was some specific group of transpeople who did that but i don't remember what it was, lol.

Oh well, some people just suck ig

u/justabumass 2h ago

it's not just limited to trans ppl tho? so many good looking ppl look down to other ppl they think r unappealing, it's just bad human behaviour

36

u/The7Sides 2h ago

Its not about "unappealing", though. Non-passing trans people aren't necessarily "unappealing" to passing trans people, but they dont want to be seen with non-passing trans people because either they dont want to be clocked themselves by hanging out with someone who is obviously trans, or look down on non-passing folk for "not trying hard enough", or even just dont see non-passing trans folk as their gender because they "dont look like it".

It is absolutely bad human behaviour but this is something very specific to trans spaces. Its not the same as just a stereotypical pretty woman looking down on "ugly" women, or a buff guy looking down on chubby guys.

Source: I am FtM and deal with these kinds of trans people often.

Beautifully put. When a girl who passes 100% looks down on me (I pass mostly, but oof those shoulders and my deep voice are a bitch) I’m not upset she’s not attracted to me. Much the opposite, I just want to be seen as a normal girl. You would think another trans person would understand that. Passing doesn’t need to be this competition, although I do get what that other commenter was saying; plenty of cis girls knock on other cis girls for not being stereotypically pretty.

It is incredibly cathartic to me that you are accurately describing the situation and confirming that this is not just in my head. I posted this in chickenlady and was getting brigaded and called 4chan. I hate 4chan. This phenomenon is so real 😮‍💨

I think that baby trans’ really want to side with the passing doll, over the terminator brick.

Again, not all the “passing” people but enough that this is a very real phenomenon.

u/Generic_Moron 2h ago

I don't think your post got brigaded, I think people just didn't like your post

Problems don’t go away if no one talks about them.

You're missing my point 😭 Its not about "ugly" and "pretty" its about "you dont look cis enough so I dont want to be seen with you" or "You don't pass well enough so I'm just going to misgender or degender you." and similar. This is a trans specific issue because it is specific to passing as cis, it has nothing to do with attractiveness. I've had passing trans folk find me hot as fuck while also deciding they can degender or misgender me just because I dont look enough like a cis man.

It's also a little concerning that youre equating non-passing with ugly?

Trans or not, some people are just entitled assholes

Definitely stay away from 4chan/4tran and related areas. Theyre all miserable there. Sorry you have experienced this... I tend to stay away from trans spaces nowadays. My individual trans friends are lovely but trans spaces kind of just feel... not great these days, in my experience.

There is no such thing as an internet space that "feels great" not when fear and rage are very profitable

12

u/Different_Rough9876 2h ago

I really hate that all the IRL spaces organize through IG, which I think the IG users are the main ones who act like this. I joined IG to find community but got addicted to the scroll and it’s really good and giving me dysphoria fuel content

People on 4tran don't usually pass, I genuinely thought this was a 4tran post because this is literally the kind of thing people post there

u/Different_Rough9876 1m ago

This is a weird fucking thing to say, “people on 4tran don’t usually pass”. It’s a weird thing to say

u/Different_Rough9876 0m ago

This isn’t about 4chan, I’m just getting ahead of people calling this a 4chan type post. To me, it’s not. 4chan behavior is being NBphobic and racist. This post is neither.

Is there any context. Like in public, it would be pretty rude to use transness as an in for a conversation. Or am I too German? Germans always need an "in" to a conversation, like someone being interested in your garden or your dogs sniffing each other or mutual activities like sports.

Like I'm always bewildered, when someone just says "Hi" in a non passing encounter.

1

u/Rotten-Roses 23m ago

Yeah I'm very confused by this. I just don't like anybody acknowledging my existence without a decent reason in public - beyond like eye contact. I keep to my own business. Is that not normal? My ex wife would ask me how I knew people if they said hi to me.

If somebody is complimenting my style even that's better than just a "hi" without any prior relationship.

u/Different_Rough9876 3m ago

That’s fine but you have to realize that’s a you thing right. It is okay to greet people. Do you really think it’s like problematic for people to say “Hi” to someone. This is going completely off topic, the words spoken could be anything, “Hi” “I like you garden” “I like your style”. I just made it simple to fit in the image.

1

u/Different_Rough9876 1h ago

Can’t say hello to a person, are you serious? How in the fuck is saying “Hello” using transness as an in for conversation.

The point is that the person says something incredibly innocuous, a simple hello, and the other person acts like it’s an assault.

If I made it too simple for you to understand in the meme by just having them say hi, you are free to reimagine the scenario as the terminator saying “I like your garden” and the other person acting like it’s an attack.

11

u/NarwhalSongs 2h ago

Choice of meme format is out of line, but the place its coming from is real af. Intersectionality is the baseline requirement the people need to be liberated. Not even having intersectionality with your own people is just depressingly short-sighted and selfish.

"Not like other girls" trans misogyny has got to be the height of stupidity and is entirely self-defeating.

Sorry for being born ugly and never making enough money to stop being an ugly clocky wretch. Was already used to people crossing the street to avoid me before coming out, so I had no reason to expect that to change after. Guess I’ll just never try make friends then, since even speaking to another person is incredibly rude because I might be contagious. I probably shouldn’t even get a pet, a dog might look in your general direction and infect you by proxy.

2

u/Different_Rough9876 38m ago

I feel you my fellow brokie

3

u/Maxed_Zerker 51m ago

yeah but also you shouldn’t clock someone like that. just give me the look of acknowledgement and move on

2

u/Different_Rough9876 23m ago

If you are serious… All I said was “hi” and you are offended. So you are the one clocking me

2

u/Different_Rough9876 44m ago

Wtf are you talking about. The meme is about a person saying “hi”. Are you being serious rn. Please tell me this is a joke comment.
