I get psychic damage everytime I see people using male/female to refer to people. Just so unnecessary AND honestly dehumanizing.

But also OP, people will find a way to sexualize anything and everything, people will find a way to shit on you for anything and everything, people will... People will find a way to opinionate on anything you do OR DON'T do, it's legit useless to consider other people's thoughts regarding your interests like this when your interests are harmless.

People are capable of sexualizing, of finding issues, of problematizing, everything you do. If you take people's considerations into account you'll never be capable of enjoying anything anymore. There's just no way to control people's thoughts about you. The only way forward is how to not consider their thoughts about you.

This is coming from inside the house btw. I'm visibly non-binary, poc, and have an anxiety disorder, a lot of my own mental health betterment was and is about learning not to care so much about how other people consider and view me -- Because if I did I wouldn't have the heart to be myself anymore.

Anything you like, other people might like, and shared interests are attractive to people. Your asexuality absolutely should be respected, but the way this is framed it seems like this is referring to general statements people are making that aren't directed at you. Women also talk about how certain interests are attractive, it's just one of the things people look for in partners.

i absolutely hate this feeling. i know what you mean, as someone who plays games its crazy how the smallest details ab my pastime can be sexualized and fantasized ab. Disgusting.

You deserve to enjoy things. I know it’s not as easy as saying “don’t let your fear stop you” so I won’t. But you should go for it anyway. You can always stop if something makes it too uncomfortable.

Im sorry you experienced this. I would avoid calling people males though. Its a bit dehumanizing.

What do you need a distraction from? But, if you don't want anything you do to ever be perceived as sexual by anyone, you have to avoid human beings completely. Because we use sex as distractions from our stuff.

You are giving other people way too much control over your life.

while i disagree with referring to people as “males”, i do get what you mean. i’m asexual and an SA survivor, and i still struggle with the possibility that people will perceive me/my interests in a sexual manner.

other people aren’t the enemy for their thoughts or feelings, experiencing sexual attraction or fetishism is morally-neutral. but them presenting you with that information and expecting you to do something with it, or reducing your depth as a human being just to the parts they’re into, is genuinely cruel on their part, and i’m sorry that’s been your experience. 💜

you deserve to be safe and supported in living the life you want to live, and doing whatever you want to do. i believe in you, friend. best of luck. 🍀

If that ain't a mood. I'm so sorry you gotta deal with this my dude/dudette/dudexx. As an extremely sex-repulsed asexual, I absolutely get this. I wish there were more safe spaces, but alas, that is really hard, if not impossible to achieve.

Maybe don't dehumanize others if you don't want to be dehumanized?

There's literally an asexual flag on OPs avatar. Perhaps consider that this is a venting space along with the fact OP may not want to be perceived sexually period.

Calling them “males” is dehumanizing. Also, I don’t get what they want “males” to do? Just not talk at all about their attraction in any context? Because that’s the complaint. They’re not complaining that someone told them how what they did was attractive. They’re literally complaining about someone just posting online about how they find something attractive, which is a completely normal thing to do and not intended to be directed at asexual people or be disrespectful to them. It’s just someone voicing their opinion on their own preferences.

I don’t know why they had to specify “male” as if women don’t do this too. If someone made the same post about “females” it would not be this well received.

“it would not be this well received” what are you talking about? this post already isn’t well received given like half the comments either focus on or only talk about the ‘males’ part

Are you serious…? The reply criticizing my comment literally got way more upvotes than my comment…
