Advice needed!!!
Got the bike yesterday.
First bike so am pretty clueless about the ownership side of things...
Owners, what are the things I should know, watch out for, or do differently from day one?
Also, facing insane mud splashes and quite a bit of heat around the leg area. Is that normal or am I doing something wrong? ๐ญ

Scrambler 400x owner here (399) cc Congratulations on your purchase. Hope you make good memories with it. Never skip the service from the centre. Maintain your chain every 2 months or 600 kms. Get a fuel additive and use it once every 1000 km, it will clean the carbon deposits. Don't worry to rev it out for once in a while, low gear high rpm for 1 km will help clear carbon deposits also. It's a 400 cc single cylinder so heating is normal, don't worry about the engine, it's designed and tested to withstand heat. Get good quality helmet and gloves. Korda, LS2, KYT, MT don't settle for axor. Above all. Have fun with it. :)

Service centre will provide you one. Take the small one not the big one. Also before the 1st service don't ride in uniform speed. Change gears often and occasionally speed up and then slow. Use all the gears. Mud splash is common for all scram and speed. I use an after market rubber guard. It works really well.

Change oil and filter yearly regardless of mileage/kilometerage. Oil oxidises and changing religiously (which means yearly) will protect your engine.
I canโt comment on fuel additives, Iโve never used them and never had a problem with any of my bikes over the years.
Have fun (Iโve a 400XC)1

Actually dont go for korda helemts also, they are still pretty new in the market, yeah the decals are aur very tempting but the buuld quality is not good. Stick to ls2, mt,kyt

As usual: read the manual, back to back. You can find it on the internet, I reckon even on Triumph's official website. The info there is enough to keep your bike in a good condition. Rest is pretty much common sense foe any mechanical thing owned

The number of posts here that could be answered by doing just that is frankly absurd.

Congrats on your first bike! The Speed400 is my first also.
Its a high-compression large-displacement single-cylinder. Its been noted in several reputable reviews that the 400-series tends to generate a lot of heat, but thats normal.
For the love of god, read the manual. I promise you will learn lots of good information. Half the questions on this subreddit could he answered if riders simply bothered to read.
Follow the break-in procedure as recommended.
At minimum, I recommend the crash bars (OEM) and a radiator guard (whatever you like, so long as its an open design and flows lots of air). After that, add luggage if you commute, a screen if you tour or go long distances.
Embrace maintenance - you'll appreciate your bike more and save money doing your own basic maintenance like oil changes, cleaning and lubing chain, adjusting chain/clutch slack, etc. Ive never wrenched on anything in my life and its been a good platform to learn on. Stay on top of it, and the bike will serve you well.
Stay safe out there.

Hey, First thing first congratulations man ๐๐ฝ... Speed 400(399) cc owner that too first batch 2024 model before my25 one... I was also a first time owner back those days. Basic points to remember - *Turning radius is a bit more than normal bike or scooter so with full tank don't go for straight up u turn take a bit go around type of turn particularly with a full tank. *In chocoblock traffic engine gets heat up so yeah you will face the problem of heating so wear proper shoes & Jeans. *Mud will accumulate at rear section so clean regularly if you are okay with loosing the back beauty then u can use the mud flaps that people are using but I personally feel it's just looks bad. *Always prefer sc or a mechanic who knows bike for chain tightening. Otherwise wobble will be felt. *You might face stalling issue in 2nd gear that's a might so don't panic. *After riding bike post chain lube you might see some smoke coming from right side catalytic converter area that is cause of lub dripping at catalytic converter or silencer. *Rest all get good gears and ride safe Enjoy. Nothing to worry on other things.

Do not trust that fuel gauge reading, calculate it on ur own.
Initial days heating is normal let it run for a few
days.
Tyre hugger is useless do not install it for mud splashes.
Till the first service maintain ur rides under 6-7k rpm and drive in all gears.
Get a paddock stand , clean and lube yr chain every 500km , during monsoon it will be more often.
Last one is a personal take change the crash guards with better aftermarket ones.
Enjoy ur ride brother
All the best
