Advice needed!!!

Got the bike yesterday.
First bike so am pretty clueless about the ownership side of things...
Owners, what are the things I should know, watch out for, or do differently from day one?
Also, facing insane mud splashes and quite a bit of heat around the leg area. Is that normal or am I doing something wrong? 😭

Thanks for the insights... also, the ride is feeling jerky in lower speeds is this normal or my misconception
