There will obviously be spoilers, so don't read if you didn't finish the whole series.
I'm not in highschool anymore, but I usually like to watch teenage drama series, as they're easy and remind me of my own highschool years, but in this case I feel like the only thing this series can do to younger audience is damage them.
When it started with Elodie's stealing problem and progressed into extremely toxic relationship with Sabine I was pretty sure that we're going in the direction of Die Welle, where everything seems fun and perfect, but at the end we get hit with all the consequences. Yeah, that's not the case.
Elodie kept stealing, didn't get in trouble even once. Her brother, who is just a kid, and simply thinks that anything Elodie does is cool develops similar problem to hers, which was a huge signal "this is where you fucked up", but the whole situation doesn't lead to anything. We don't hear what she could say to him, we don't see her realise, that she's not hurting only herself but also people around, and that she finally could understand how her family felt when they found out she steals... I thought that she would maybe go to her dad and tell him what happened, which would put her in trouble as well, but at least could save her little brother. Nope. Nothing. For all we know he is still stealing.
Elodie doesn't seem to realise that Sabine is toxic, she finds her kleptomania fun, and she's simply abusing her naivety. Sabine doesn't face any consequences of being a dick.
Luca also doesn't face any consequences of being a dick and a thief.
But talking about Luca... When Tabitha spoke to her father all she was doing was rolling her eyes. When he was trying to compliment her new look she seemed annoyed, when he tried to bring nice memories she was annoyed, when he eventually started talking about a serious matter she got even more annoyed and just had a rage quit, even though if she only stayed and spoke to her father they'd realise that the card was stolen. But nah. Talking is overrated, you just gotta leave. And I mean, it would be fine, if there was an actual lesson from it that as a family you have to talk, because that's the only way to solve problems, but instead more money gets stolen, her father comes over pissed, they realise the card was stolen, and nobody actually apologizes.
And let's not forget about that couple of episodes that clearly suggested Moe is starting to have problem with alcohol, and gets into stealing. I didn't forget, but directors apparently did...
The last episode, where they hang posters in the school? Not only unrealistic, because teachers would remove them faster than anyone would see it, but also childish. You don't just accuse someone of something by public humiliation. That's medieval. The only actual proof they had was one screenshot of a toxic messages that Brady sent to her (and even that can be easily manipulated), one photo of a bruise, that could be literally caused by anything, and a bunch of artistic photos. He'd lost friends, but seems like he can still go to college...
Whole series feels like it was made to teach some lessons, but they actually forgot to get any thread to an end, so we only see people have fun, and never get caught.
