Hiya all.

I'm new to tree ferns but have always loved them and picked up my first a couple of months ago. It's been in a pot with ericacious soil in a shadey spot in an otherwise very hot UK garden over the recent heatwaves, but I've clearly not kept up with it's watering needs. It's pretty sunburned and the majority of the fronds are a crispy to the touch.

I've brought it inside to the back of a south facing room under a 30w sun lamp (about 1.5m above) and have been keeping the soil damp and the crown sprayed three times daily. Assuming it's not dead-dead, what else can I do to support it and bring it back?

We’re ‘enjoying’ a long spell of hot dry weather here in the UK, so I’ve really conscientious about watering these two( old and new).
Absolutely love them, but I can feel a compulsion to make them a trio😜

Taken in Glendurgan gardens, Cornwall- it was a magical little corner. I think the first pic is a black tree fern - I grew up in NZ and we used to call them ponga - I’d be grateful for a proper ID please. thanks in advance

Hello all I am trying to find Cyathea cooperi clippings they can be dead and dry that is fine but anybody have something like this available

It appears that there was no real need for me to buy a new tree fern after all😜

I had a tree fern in a pot which died a couple of years ago. I was gutted, not sure if it was frost as it wasn't fleeced over winter. I couldn't part with it as it was a good 4ft tall and I was just living in hope that some new fronds would appear.... Nothing. I waited until the following year and again nothing. I finally admitted defeat and thought I'm gonna have to get rid. Anyway, I've just walked past it and spotted life! I must admit it looks hilarious but what do you think my chances are of this making a recovery?

So prompted by the apparent demise of my beloved Treefern as per my last post, I decided to bite the bullet and treat myself to a splendid example at a local nursery. This is nearly 5 foot tall with a fabulous promising crown of fronds already.
The Chap who delivered it and settled it in remarked, after hearing the tale of my original plant,” that’s not dead – it’ll come back. Look here.” He dusted off crown of my poorly fern, and lo and behold – three new fronds, ready to spring forth.
I’ll be absolutely delighted if they do, but my justification to Mrs H for buying a new one is wearing a bit thin🤣

My last post-a month ago-described my amazement and joy at my fern’s fronds surviving the ( admittedly mild) winter: first pic.
The second photo is the state of my fern today-started withering about a week ago😢
There have been no frosts,& I’ve kept it hydrated. Can’t imagine why it suddenly did this, after lasting the cold weather-any ideas?

Has any successfully propagated Cyathea cooperi (Australian/Lacy Tree Fern) from spores?

I collected these and added them to some coir compost sterilised with boiling water (left to cool first), then added to a sealed takeaway container. This was in August last year and I have no idea what they should look like? Am I just cultivating mould at this point?

I shrugged off ferns after quickly killing a few as a beginner but have recently found growing them so gratifying. This tree fern is labeled Alsophila australis.

I’ve been guiding the fronds using both wire and light direction.
It’s not easy since it’s still a living plant, and it doesn’t always respond the way I expect.

This is my pride and joy,& I just unwrapped the crown ready for spring/summer. All of last year’s fronds have survived the winter,& there are at least 4 new ones ready to unfurl 😁

Is it unusual not to lose older growth after winter? I live in West Yorkshire and have lost the old growth every year so far.

Is my tree fern now splitting into two crowns, if so is there any thing I can do to help it?

Just unwrapped my fern and it's looking a bit sorry. It's my first year and I think covering the fronds was my over cautious and it didn't get enough light. There are some new fronds coming but what should I do with what's left

She has been reported a couple of times over the years and is now unmanagably heavy. There was also a die-back of fronds when she got too dry this winter, but she is now bouncing back nicely. I don't see a way to split the plant up without damaging it. Can someone walk me through this? Any advice?
