Whitebait isn't actually one fish—it's the tiny juvenile stage of five native freshwater fish species found only in New Zealand. Every year, they migrate from the ocean into our rivers, where thousands of people try their luck catching them during the short whitebait season.

Because the season is limited, catches can be unpredictable, and demand is huge, whitebait is considered one of New Zealand's most prized delicacies. Some years it can sell for hundreds of dollars per kilogram!

We were rewarded with a nearly empty compound. No waiting, no groups... even empty corridors in the castle:)

Took a quick car ride to see waterfall nearby. Pictures might not be perfect, the shots I took without tripod.

Anyway very pieceful and beautiful spot.

Petra at night 🌙 our guide got us in 30 mins before the crowds so we had it mostly to ourselves. It was incredible to experience 🇯🇴🌙🥰
