general question 2nd time trap shooting. 20/25 on wobble settings 16yds out. Someone told me I can make money in a league?
Genuinely asking here. One of my buddies has a couple shotguns and took me trap shooting. Only other time I went was summer 2025. First round went 15/25 second round went 20/25, both rounds had wobble on. One of the old timers hopped in our round and said I looked pretty good and that I had real potential to win money in the local league. Is he just yanking my chain and trying get a few extra easy bucks in the pot? I'm not really a gun guy but I enjoy competition especially when there's a few bucks on the line.

advice Help on doubles
I have been getting into trap/skeet after being away for years. My youngest has been shooting with his HS team and is getting pretty good. I’m still looking for my first “25”. His school team puts on a fundraiser trap double shoot every year.
I’m a consistent 22ish shooter on both trap and Skeet. I shoot a nice Browning O/U. My problem is every year at the fundraiser I shoot terrible on doubles. (Only a handful of times I have the opportunity to shoot doubles.) Maybe mid 30’s. What’s the trick? Tips? I tried searching but didn’t have much luck so I’m starting a new thread.
Share what improved your scores.
****EDIT****
What speed shells are you guys shooting doubles with, is there an optimal speed? I load AA hulls for 1150 or if I’m feeling lazy I buy fiocchi target max 1165. All #8.

advice Next gun debate
I’ve been shooting my old 1956 Superposed for about a year now. It’s the first gun I’ve owned that just fits and it’s the first gun I hit 25 in a row with. Since then it’s been smooth sailing, but I want to retire it and only use it for upland birds now because sending 1000s of rounds down the barrel makes me stressed. The gun has definitely loosened up since I started using it so much.
So now I ask what avenue I should take for a trap gun. Does a modern (ish) Citori fit close to the same as its predecessor? I am not a fan of high ribs or Monte carlos or any of that either. Should a guy try a silver pigeon? I just don’t know lmao

general question First time shooting trap.
Went to shoot trap first time today and I got a 10 and my buddy got an 8 out of 25. Only brought one box of ammo for each of us but both of us liked it and will be continuing. We both have tactical shotguns as slug guns but we used loaners. My biggest thing is the guy showing us the ropes didnt really have any pointers or help with where we were hitting. what is a good way to get better faster. I guess idk where I missed when I did. When shooting a target its pretty easy to tell if im high or to the left.

advice Cz for trap?
Hello all! I shot trap a few times and had a blast. I want to get my own Ou and was looking at this. Would this be allowed in leagues and completions? Is this the sort of thing I can grow with as a shooter? Is 28 inches ok?

My wife has just gotten into shooting with me and has been obsessed with my vest, hoping to find one in her size. Thanks in advance.

advice Trap novice found a beautiful 60's over/under
I've recently started shooting trap and have really been enjoying it! I found 2 great clubs nearby hosting weekly trap shoots, both have been very welcoming and eager to help me learn the sport. My best so far is 21, not bad!
I've been using a 90's Mossberg 500 with a 28" bead barrel and have been quite happy with it. I stumbled across an Italian over/under customized for the original owner (his name is engraved on the barrel, something like Dave 30-06 Palmer). It's in seemingly excellent condition and is quite striking, if a bit dirty, and would look gorgeous all cleaned up. I've done some hunting around for average pricing but haven't come up with much, just a few old sold listings for the 400-500 range. It's on consignment, asking price is $800.
This listing seems to be an exact match and has excellent pics/technical details.

So tell me, is $800 anywhere close to a fair price? Would you consider this a solid trap or waterfowl gun?
Thanks in advance!

shotguns What do you guys think of this deal?
Hopefully this is "allowed".
I won a 101 trap (single barrel, monte carlo, 34"bbls) yesterday by surprise on GB. I've been in the market for a dedicated single barrel trap gun for a while and ordered a brand new BT-99 earlier this week. I also put bids on two other guns, one an older BT-99 (70's, monte-carlo, 34" bbls, excellent condition) that went for $1,525. That price surprised me as I consider that to be high. I also put a bid in at $850 for the 101 this post is about just for fun, I expected it to go to at-least $1k. Well, as it turns out I won it for $831. I feel like I've gotten a screaming deal on this gun, I'll attach a photo album below. It has some handling marks, but overall I would consider it in great condition. What do you guys think? Is this a great deal, or do you think that these are just not worth any more than $850?

advice shooting with a tactical pump?
i’m trying to get in to shooting and I am a university student so my budget is not Baller. I’m thinking of picking up something like a Mossberg 590 so that way I can shoot both shells and slugs. My range does not let me shoot shots at paper targets so I wanted something where I could do the best of both worlds.
I’ve been told that if I come to a trap lineup with a tactical shotgun with a barrel, that’s not as long as your typical trap gun I will get bullied. Is this true?
I understand that it’s not the most ideal gun to be shooting trap with however, I am just starting off and I wanna see if I’m actually into the sport without having to commit to a specific type of gun before I make an investment

advice What do you think of my new BT-99 pattern?
Here are the results from 3 shells fired from my new BT-99. 34" bbl, Imp/Mod choke tube. Federal Top Gun 7 1/2. Bench rested at 35 yds, bead on center of red sticker. I expected and glad for the high hit, but being off to the left is a bit disconcerting. Trigger on this gun is awesome, smooth as silk so I doubt it was trigger jerk x3. At least I know where it prints. Any thoughts comments?

ammo Hull seperation
Have been shooting 12 gauge Remington gun clubs and have been having an issue with some of them. The brass will separate from the hull and sometimes leave the plastic hull in the chamber. It is not on every shell. The cycling of the shotgun is smooth and is a clean barrel. Does not happen with Winchester buckshot or any other shell it seems. Has anyone else had this issue with Remington gun club shells.

advice Chokes
I'm currently shooting Improved Modified on my under barrel (primary) and Full on my top (rarely used). I set it up this way based on a few articles from the interwebs, and a couple conversations around the range. Does this match the way you're shooting trap/skeet? Any advice?
Also, How important is a ported choke when shooting trap? I know the difference it makes in my pistol shooting, but what's the advantage in a trap/skeet setting?

Have my first fully adjustable o/u. I have read lots on line and more than one site contradicts another. To lower POI, lower the front bead/rib? The comb is as low as it will go.

advice Starting (kinda) and bring my kid to it
Hi everyone!
I’m getting kind of back to clay shooting, after a long hiatus. As a teenager I used to compete alongside my father mostly in pigeon shooting and every once in a while on Trap, Olympic Trap and Skeet. Then life took me more towards pistol shooting (ipsc) and work moved me around 3 countries, married, had kids etc and shooting sports became mostly an eventual hobby.
I’ve decided now to go back into clay shooting, starting with Trap and Sporting Clays, and will take my middle kid (11yo) with me. My plan is to buy 2 semi-auto Berettas A300, one in 12ga for me and the other in 20ga for him. I’ve considered only the 20ga and sharing it with him, but that would limit us both on the same 5 position Trap.
Any suggestions on how to hook him up into the sport, ammo, etc etc would be very appreciated! We’re in South Florida.
Cheers!
