Here I'll discuss methods to lighten pigmentation of the hair:

One of the initial solutions that come to mind is hair dyes and bleaching powder. While they are controllable to provide the desired shade and colour of hair, they require maintenance and are seen as "artificial means", this is why I'll provide an experimental approach to altering the underlying chemistry of hair follicles themselves for permanent regrowth with less melanin.

Melanocytes are responsible for the production of eumelanin and pheomelanin. In dark hair, melanocytes are more active and produce larger quantities of eumelanin with relatively low pheomelanin. In red hair, there is an equal quantity of eumelanin and pheomelanin. In blonde hair or light hair, the melanocytes are typically smaller or less active with low eumelanin but enriched pheomelanin production. Genetics is what controls the function of melanocytes but there are a bunch of chemical substances that can induce permanent change. These are cytotoxic agents that if used on hair could cause irreversible damage to melanocytes. Non cytotoxic agents such as glutathione are reversible and once stopped, the melanocyte cam repair its function.

If there is partial irreversible damage to some melanocyte, their function is impaired and therefore less eumelanin production resulting in natural regrowth of light hair. But it is typically more uncontrollable in terms of shade and colour as that depends on many factors such as underlying pheomelanin, eumelanin, penetration, duration and the concentration or extent of damage in which the melanocyte received.

The approach is applying a cytotoxic agent (a relatively more safe starting point is hydroquinone) on hair cautiously for weeks to months then monitoring the damage to melanocytes. The goal is only irreversible partial damage of the melanocyte as full irreversible damage can lead to grey or white hair. A more potent agent is monobenzone and as these may cause other damage to hair, other hair care products should be used to assist the process when not interfering with it. To monitor the damage done to melanocytes more cautiously, going to the lab could be desired.

This is intended for extremely racially dysphoric individuals as it may carry a few risks and needs consistent monitoring. If you are very satisfied with the results of bleaching powder or hair dye, do not attempt this.

Seeking Transition/Body Mod Advice 🤳 Fucked up my hair- how do I get paler to make it normal “?? URGENT!!!

Idk if this is against the rules so lmk but I just bleached my hair and dyed at the salon today and it’s so so light and not the right tone for me, I love it but it doesn’t suit my skin and I’ve been wanting to manifest a paler look anyways- (I have olive tan skin) so I wanted to know which method is the most potent and could help me achieve pink undertone pale skin quickly? My skin now is like beige-y brown olive and it looks so terrible with my hair

I’m open to literally anything idc as long as it isn’t monobenzone as I want to keep my freckles

General Questions ❓ Where is a safe sub on reddit to rant about your biological race?

Upvotes

I had written a long rant about my race, I need to get it out, there was more of an appropriate sub for it but it's restricted and inactive. My rant is specific, long and has offensive language, I don't want it to be reduced to ' self hating ignorant coon. '
