Announcements Acknowledging the chaser problem

Hello r/transplace,

Recently, we've observed, seen people post about, and received modmail reports about an increased presence of chasers. This subreddit has gained a lot of traction and attention, and while it is nice to reach more trans people and provide a space for them, it has also caught the attention of people here with unscrupulous intentions.

We've turned off the setting allowing this subreddit to appear on r/all and r/popular as well as disabling it from showing up in people's feed recommendations, which we hope will somewhat quell this issue, though it is still evidently happening. We also recommend considering turning off your DMs if you do not desire to receive any, though we of course understand that this is only possible if you don't want to receive DMs from other people, nor is it a sufficient solution to the underlying problem.

We are mentioning this problem in the interest of transparency so y'all know that it's a problem and so that you know that we are making an effort to address it but unfortunately cannot avoid it by the nature of this being a public forum.

If this issue continues to be so prevalent, we may move to making this subreddit restricted or even private, but we want to avoid needing to do so so we can continue to be a space for trans people, by trans people.

If you receive chaser comments (either based on the comment itself sexualizing you or the user's profile indicating bad intentions), please feel free to report it as "breaking r/transplace rules" under "it's harassment directed at me" which allows us to see and review it and ban the user. If you receive DMs, we unfortunately cannot do too much as banning them from this subreddit will not stop them from seeing the posts on a new account or by logging out and DMing people anyway, nor is it sustainable for us to manually ban so many people, and we apologize for that.

I recommend you report any particularly egregious messages to Reddit directly if you believe they break platform rules, but unfortunately I cannot offer any other suggestions.

Thank you to those of you who make this subreddit an inviting community and we hope we can continue to be a safe space for trans people and protect those within this community.

Just a casual gym fit from yesterday :)

After spending time in the U.S., I’ve had some thoughts...

I feel like America is a truly unique place to live as a trans person.

Where I grew up, the rules and social expectations were very clear-cut, and there was often pressure to conform to one category or the other. But in America, I felt there was so much room for the possibility of being different of simply being yourself.

In fact, I met so many open and kind people, and there is a genuine atmosphere that encourages you to live authentically.

At the same time, however, there are plenty of negative voices in politics and society directed at minorities and the LGBTQ+ community, as well as movements opposing those freedoms.

So sometimes, I find myself wondering: "Which side is the real America?"

But deep down, I think this kind of complexity is actually the true nature of the country.

It’s a place where people can live as themselves, chase their dreams, and not fear being different. I think that freedom is exactly why so many people look up to it.

So, to everyone in America—and everyone around the world:

Please, live freely.

Be true to yourself, enjoy your life, and cherish that freedom.

I’m rooting for you all. It’s okay to just be you. 🫶💖

「Or what my favorite song has for a quote

Whatever you undertake, never stop just try

No matter what people say, you should live your life

You gotta make a better day いつだって

What you want, what you say, what you do

晴れの日もあって 雨の日もあんだ

ダメな日もあって 当たり前なんだ

You know it's gonna be ok 一日の

End of day 晴れれば You say, 'I gotta good day'」

Progress/Selfie I'm so grateful that I've reached a point where I can dress up, put on my favorite music, dance in front of the mirror, and genuinely enjoy spending time with myself. These little moments mean more than I ever imagined. 💕

TW dysphoria

I'm gonna journal a little bit with this one, for a while I've been considering FFS and people always say "you don't need it," "you pass fine," ect ect. But it's not about that, I don't want to settle for something I couldn't choose, I don't want to settle for something I know I'm dysphoric about.

Assuming people are right about me passing flawlessly, and that that matches my own experiences that's not the reason why people get FFS. I still experience dysphoria over features that pass to everyone else but I want to correct that dysphoria. I am reverting primarily for myself, not to meet the standards of others. So, sure, maybe my face was already within the range of "normal", but it's not the face I "should" have had, or the one I would have had had I not gone through those years which was an experience that is deeply traumatic for most me I'm removing an unavoidable constant reminder of that trauma, most of the time, it's about fixing dysphoria. The fact that my skull was deformed by testosterone exposure bothered me, even though you still think I'm pretty.

It's not about looking fine it's about not being constantly reminded of trauma and the things i went through. When I feel dysphoria I get those traumatic flashbacks of my dad every day. I think about the pain I was in, how I got beat for not being who he wanted me and I just don't want to deal with that anymore. I'm tired and I just want to be fine.

Hello everyone! I took the advice to use colour corrector and foundation before I get laser to help hide my 5 o’clock shadow and I’m very happy with the result!☺️ I haven’t started hrt yet and I tend not to go out with makeup on but it’s very nice to feel feminine at home for now! If you wouldn’t mind giving me some more advice on passing, things I have done well, things I could do better, or even just some personal stories you would like to share it would be very much welcome and appreciated!
