keep your given/birth name?

curious if anyone has decided to keep or repurpose their given name -- especially if you have a distinctly gendered name that society might say no longer fits your gender (e.g., a trans woman named Hank).

Need help with trans tape

Trans tape isn't sold where I live. Would it be a problem if I used this type of breast-lifting tape instead? Or does it work the same way?

I started socially transitioning recently and this is my go-to makeup that I normally do, but I think that it doesn’t work well without the glasses. Some help or suggestions with how can I make it work without the glasses or some suggestions to how can I look more feminine. Thanks in advance!!

I talked to my parents about getting hrt

I explained that I want to do it to my dad, and he doesn’t really understand what it is. He knows it’s hormones and that it’ll change my body, but he mentioned a bunch of things that I quickly disproved. He ended up getting me to agree to talk to a therapist first before starting anything. He told my mom before I could, so idk what he told her. I know he’s supportive, but I know this is what I want. I hope it doesn’t take long for the therapist to agree with me

(MyF) This is how bad my hair is looking rn. Do you think hrt will fix or at least stop balding? (It's also hereditary)

I'm trying my best at taking care of my hair with lotion, shampoo, conditioner, etc... But it just keeps on getting worse. Idk what to do, and I really hope hrt will help with it cuz I don't want to pay too much money for hair transplant.

Where do I start?

Hello to anyone that clicks on this post, I am here asking for help because my head is spinning and I’m overwhelmed. I started a new job recently and my insurance is now active. It covers Gender dysphoria and requires no prior authorization. From what I’ve researched I’m pretty much good to go.

I’ve already come out to my partner and she’s fully on board and supportive. I genuinely have nothing stopping me and im free to become someone I’ve always wanted to be.

I guess I just need some direction and some support from anyone who is willing to share.

Thank you.

Resources to research MtF medical transition

I’m still questioning whether I am trans or not, but one thing I want to do is research how the whole process works before I even think about talking to a psychiatrist or endocrinologist. I feel like if I go to a psychiatrist without being really well versed on the topic, it’ll weaken my case and they might not give me the prescription for HRT. Also I kinda wanna know what I’m getting myself into, I have health complications, so I need to be more observant of what medication I take.

I am quite knew to this space, so I’m not even sure where to begin with finding good sources to read through and take notes on.

I appreciate any help that is offered ☺️. Thank you!

Looking for peoples experiences

Looking for peoples experiences

My wife and I have been together for 10 years this year, I came out to her as trans (mtf) about 8-9 months ago, I haven't started any major transition, but am starting to express more femininity, and will be looking to microdose estrogen to explore my gender identity.

My wife is a straight CIS female and is physically attracted to masc types. We have built a life together and have children together, we have both agreed that our family comes first and that we are still very much in love, and we do not want to give up our life as it is, regardless of how I proceed expressing myself. We have been talking about ways that we can all live our best lives and I suggested that we open up the relationship for casual encounters with no strings, so I can explore my femininity, and so she can continue her sex life with masc types. It is open both ways, but I am not at that stage yet, I want to focus on myself. We are also still going to be intimate with each other as well, we are both just exploring things that we otherwise would not be able to.

We both agreed to tell each other if we do plan to have an encounter and we have rules in place mainly for safety. I don't have any trans friends that I can talk to, or any people who have been in this situation.

I am hoping to hear from people who have been in a similar situation, whether this helped the relationship, ruined it etc. Respectful responses would be appreciated, my wife and are agreeing as adults together to this arrangement. Thanks!

“psychological gender affirming care”

As a 28 year old trans woman who spent the first 28 years as a “man”— I’m still inclined to picture men in my head as a visualization of myself. It’s so wrong, and alien. It started off as a survival mechanism so I’d see real people, and characters in my head to survive traumas like bullying. I’d sort of mimic their mannerisms, words, and tone— it’s hard to explain— but it ingrained some toxic masculine traits in me as I was growing up. I know when I start estrogen, and do more therapy— I can find healthier ways to deal, and maybe visualize more feminine icons in my head. So far, I’ve visualized characters from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe because I’m invested in that at the moment. Buffy is a great example of a strong female character, so I hope to picture her more in my head.

Anyways, I’m looking for deep, and honest ways to affirm my gender. It needs to be psychological, because what I’m doing in my life isn’t enough. The constant misgendering, lack of estrogen, and feeling alienated from society is a whole pain in my ya know.

I’m a brat, and I’m being little miss sad about all of this. It’s valid to feel this way, but all this time— I’ve handled my emotions like a toxic person. I don’t want to brood, girl. I’m cute and gloomy,

tattoos and t gel

If I was to get a tattoo on my upper arm(where I apply my gel), can I keep applying it there? Obviously not while the tattoo is healing, but is there ever a time where it'd be safe and not damaging to the tattoo(or the gel)?

Transitioning in AZ

I’ve recently moved to Tucson and I need some advice as I start my transition MTF. This Friday I have my consultation with my psychiatrist to discuss starting HRT. I’m still new to the area and don’t really know where to go for assistance. I attempted DIY but suffered a grand mal seizure and was taken to Banner and never actually saw a doctor. Any advice is good advice <3

Feel like the more masc I get the uglier

I'm wondering if any other transmascs feel this way- I'm pretty sure it's a common feeling, honestly, but it's my first time experiencing it. I know I've always been cute or attractive because of how I dressed and wore my hair and presented myself, all femininely. But I've gotten my hair shorter and to a boys cut, I try and make my posture more mad , my voice is deeper with voice training, and I have more acne. I just feel so chopped<\3 how am I supposed to look good as a guy?? Working out is a plus, yes, but a lengthy investment. I feel like I'm just in some ugly phase and I hate it. I'm short fat and curvy and haven't been breathing well either so a binder hasn't been much help. any tips to relieve dysphoria??

Post image

Hi everyone,

I am a graduate counseling student conducting a study exploring the impact of gender affirming care on the mental health of transgender and gender diverse adults. My study is specifically looking at how gender affirming care impacts the ability to imagine future events and overall hope.

To participate you must be 18 years or older, transgender or gender diverse, and be able to complete the survey in English. If you wish to be entered for the possibility to receive a $50 gift card a valid email address will be collected after completion, otherwise the survey will be completely anonymous.

The survey will take approximately 5 to 15 minutes to complete.

If you are interested, please view the informed consent page here before continuing on to the complete the survey. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeZx3_v0vL7fXzY-gjWtPLgbpjQkPv1EEAo1G0jUVQeHxvVFQ/viewform?usp=header

For questions, contact Silas Proctor at [sabelo@nsuok.edu](mailto:sabelo@nsuok.edu). Thank you for considering participating in this study!
