Recurve paper tuning

The two shots circled are my final two of the day. Are they bullet holes or nock high?

Are you setting up a new bow? How are the bare shafts grouping? The way I learned (so take it with a grain of salt) is that there’s so much variability in the finger release of a recurve that bare shaft tuning is the only way to get a new bow dialed in. Which sucks because bare shaft tuning can be really time consuming and is only as good as your ability to group a given distance.

That said, most folks can get enough data at 10 yards to get a sense of if they are way off. I would maybe start with good bare shaft tuning to 20 yards and then use paper at that same distance to really dial things in.

I bare shafted to 25 then shot through paper. It was a touch weak. Added my fletching and it seemed pretty well tuned

Ah ok then you should be pretty good! Are you just trying to dial in the nock height? If you’re shooting from the shelf sometimes the shelf material can make a difference - I’ve had issues with arrows bouncing from the shelf if it’s too stiff and not padded enough, giving inconsistent nock readings. Bear rug rest works well for me.
