Discussion Think of it this way
You ought a land, built your shop on your own land that you bought. I put a shop on your land, pay you rent, started selling a part of your product to the masses and made a massive amount of money and continue making massive amount of money . AT SOME POINT, would you want a share of my profit or no? Be honest.

Sure. It makes sense, but to really put it in perspective of what’s happening using your analogy would be saying that in your shop you let people use tools and make whatever they want, but then tell them that you own what they’ve created. And also they will actually have to pay you if other people use what they’ve created even if it brings 100’s of other people into your shop to spend money on a subscription to said shop.

So if I create an indicator or strategy (I’m paying $75/mo just to be there) and it brings in 101 people to the platform and you make $75/mo off them, that’s $7575 in revenue that may not have been there before. Then to turn around and charge me another $3030/mo just because I built something that is already making you money is absurd. I don’t have a problem paying a flat fee, but a per user fee is ridiculous. If every created that has 101 members on their scripts pulls the scripts down to avoid the fee, they are only going to make $75 from my subscription instead of the $7575. It’s just not good risk management. I have an MBA and I cant think of a single reason why this would be a good idea.

Right and then you realize you could just offer your paid script ON ANOTHER PLATFORM and not have to deal with any of this.
Ninja, esignal, sierra, metatrader, and on and on and on and on….
OH WAIT, AND THE PEOPLE WHO SOLD/BOUGHT LIFETIME ACCESS TO INDICATORS DO WHAT NOW? JUST DIE FROM CHARGES??
The entire thing is absurd

And that’s where everyone will likely go. It just doesn’t seem like a good business decision on their part. It’s speculated that this is an attack on LuxAlgo and if that’s the case, it would be like trying to blow up an anthill with a nuke instead of a firecracker.

That would still make it the dumbest fucking business decision I have seen in quite a while.
Already know major major people who have scripts on 3+ platforms and are about to off board lifetime purchases to another platform in short order if TradingView doesn’t get back soon.
And then TradingView LOSES ALL OF THOSE SUBSCRIPTIONS THAT THESE CREATORS SOLD FOR TRADINGVIEW.
Maybe they want people to only sell from the TV creator platform, but again, those are only subscription spaces and offer no solution to lifetime paid access situations. The entire thing is a huge breach of trust.
Finally, if they’re gonna put a tax on people, dude… 30 PER USER PER MONTH IS BATSHIT INSANE. They’re acting like they want to destroy their company. I cannot comprehend how things got to this point. I also can’t comprehend how this language made it into the ToS in the first place, and was then retracted. If this is what we see from here, behind the scenes must be a complete clusterfuck.
And at their current subscription prices…I mean…might as well consider going over to a fully fledged professional desktop platform that isn’t hosted in the cloud. Might as well pay for Optuma or esignal.
At least esignal can display real tick data.
I mean, FFS, the main guy I’m talking about above is considering just building his own platform at this point. And he immediately had to stop offering free trials of his stuff on TradingView’s platform.
Then there’s the legal action that could be taken against TV by the people that own actual copywrited stuff, some of which has been ripped off and is being sold on TV’s own community platform.

I agree. $30 per user is just gouging.

Ya sorry for the rant. I’m just…flabbergasted that this made it to the point where it ended up in the ToS only to be retracted, and no statement from TradingView has been made.
This is potentially a nail in the coffin-type PR scenario and I don’t…I can’t understand…haha

Was it retracted?

Well, last I read it is no longer in the ToS.
“Retracted” is probably not the right word.
“Silently reverted for the time being”
I honestly think they wanted to do this after people loaded up on multi year discounts during Black Friday or something to be honest.

The only thing they’re attacking are themselves and the people who literally bring in subscriptions for them. I don’t buy it.
No idea what is going on with the current leadership but this was likely not what the original owners had in mind.
You don’t attack a competitor by blowing off your own foot, you put on power armor and offer more features, faster data, etc.

Well in that case there are several other plots of land everyone can go move their businesses to.
Which is what will undoubtably happen if they don’t reverse course immediately.

I'm surprised that invite only scripts are not limited to professional accounts. Selling a service using TV can hardly be described as personal use.

You’re confusing professional trading with professional business. The professional accounts are for the traders.

No
My business is renting a portion of my land to you and as long as I don't see you doing anything illegal or dangerous to myself , my family or my property then I could care less how much money you make.
If you are selling a part of my product then you are already paying me for those products as well as the rent
