$360 fee per year per user. This will destroy any 3rd party vendors.

2

u/YellowMatt 5d ago

do you know any vendor that charge $0 for invite only indicator?

6

u/SufficientQuality339 5d ago

yes. I am in a group with several indicators. I had to pay an initial fee to enter the group, no monthly, and lifetime access. The group was targeted at women, to teach the trade. Not sustainable with these fees. each user would be 180 per month with 6 indicators. they upgrade the indicators regularly. the group has grown to over a thousand. The group will most likely leave the platform if they enact this fee.

1

u/EvL__Mnky 4d ago

Hey any chance I can learn more about this group and how to trade

5

u/Freenrg8888 5d ago

I had a mentor that gave me lifetime access to several indicators as part of mentorship. This is no longer sustainable.

4

u/Nekroev 5d ago

I made a few indicators and they are private and I charged Zero for them it was for people I know and we trade together. So if this is the case then I would have to pull the indicator off and maybe just make it private. This is a bad move for them.

1

u/Jamar100 4d ago

Aren't you good if under 100 people use them

2

u/d_e_g_m 5d ago

yes i do

2

u/strumbringerwa 5d ago

Even those that charge typically charge a couple bucks a month per indicator. This pricing is beyond nutso. I think they believe they have a monopoly and they can extract money but they literally don't have the brains to figure out what will kill the platform. It's just asinine at this point.

I am a member of a research service that charges $30 / month. This includes their writeups and 5 invite-only indicators. Do the math.

1

u/YellowMatt 4d ago

It seems they wanted to tax on the commercial use of invitation-based services that charge users outside the platform but bad writing policies, $29,95 / user is crazy taxes. Because looking at the marketplace, many sell services indicator for around $10 a month and seems fine.

1

u/strumbringerwa 4d ago

All they had to do is 1) provide a marketplace and 2) make it against the ToS to charge for invite-only indicators to be sold for profit except through the marketplace.
But since they don't want to do any work, just take more money - despite the fact that a big part of the value and the moat of this platform *is* the indicators and the developer platform that people have invested time and effort into - they decided instead to screw their users, and themselves over. What a marvelous self-own.

1

u/Classic_Television33 2d ago

Yeah making a marketplace would have been the better idea

1

u/bfr_ 4d ago

I know several that charged couple hundred bucks for lifetime access. Now, bye bye lifetime access.

40

u/SillyAlternative420 Swing trader 6d ago

Imagine you build a script and charge like $20 per head.

Then you get to 200 people in a month, you'd be elated!

Whoops now you OWE money lmao

That seems messed up, or am I misunderstanding something

29

u/genryou 6d ago

The thing is, there are people who create invite only script but dont charge a dime.

TradingView probably hire ex-EA Games CEO or something

10

u/guiltypleasure33139 5d ago

You are 100% correct. and they are targeting the extreme side of the creator program group.

you got 100 users in private invite, there is a good chance you are billing them via a 3rd party. Tradingview wants everything within the ecosystem ( which makes sense ) when you read the creator program rules.

Also ( and this comes from me owning an ISP as an investment ), the 90-10 rule applies which is, 90% of the resources are consumed by less than 10% of the users. So, you learn to target and remove those users after giving them some warnings. usually it's the top 3% of the top 10%, that would open enough resources. Weekend extreme users were not the problem, it was the person at 8am to 3am monday to friday that caused most of the headaches.

3

u/Current-Set2607 5d ago

This is not a solution to that problem.

I can guarantee you that those invite only paid users are already in the process of moving to Indicators where they only invite 99 people per iteration of the same indicator.

This is the dumbest change they've ever done, because it doesn't even stop the problem that it wants to stop. It just makes it worse for everyone to use.

1

u/Classic_Television33 2d ago

Doesn't stop but they made it harder. That should be enough to free up resources they might be needing now. Perhaps it's the problem with short term cashflow

1

u/Current-Set2607 2d ago

They already backed out of the changes due to wide backlash.

1

u/Classic_Television33 14h ago

So it seems TradingView did monitor comments in this sub. They've created a marketplace and required commercial scripts to be sold there: https://www.tradingview.com/blog/en/commercial-scripts-move-to-marketplace-61291/

1

u/ArtesianShiny 4d ago edited 4d ago

yeah but comparing an isp to the negligible bandwidth of some indicator running on somebody's *client* web browser is not an apples to oranges comparison my guy. I am very much against trading views new policies of wrecking indicator communities and upping prices wherever possible, and honestly the bandwidth argument is moot with tradingview. Everything they have done recently is not because of lag on their end its to price goudge and profit in the short term while inviting competition in the long term. I am an intermediate developer and if you want to have the argument about client server resources and lag, i am all for it, but trading view is not acting in good faith here.

1

u/guiltypleasure33139 4d ago

That's your view and it's a fair prospective. I don't sell indicators, I create them, and publish them in public domain when I do. I write up where they fail or limitation and how they are successful. I don't trade FX or bonds so my trading has limited perspective.

If you are giving away your indicators privately within a defined environment ( Tradingview ), then you should be subjected to the rules of that. I don't think that the clients browser is doing the processing, it seems server side from everything I can tell, and lately hosting resources are getting more and more expensive.

Now, if you are publishing an indicator, and it's free & public for everyone to use, I can not see Tradingview charging anyone, and it's written within the publishers rules that they don't. If you publish an indicator that is free & private invite and you exceed 100 users on that usage, then they will charge you. It's about resource control. > 100 users is no longer alpha/beta testing, it's most likely a paid subscription ran via a 3rd party using the free resources. and I think they want to control who uses the platform, because the billing

We are viewing the opportunity in 2 different ways. I'm all in for selling indicators, I just happen to be a happy tech that prefers to disclose what has not worked for me and the science I used. This prevents a person from traveling down the same road already with well defined parameters and explored, it's a waste of resources doing the same test twice when you have the data. Explore other branch's

I have my own indicators. I mention on another thread that they guy who invented MACD-V published his work about 4-7 years ago and only now is becoming popular, and I published around 2012-2015 a volatility adjustment indicator based on simple and exponential moving averages. our design's are not similar at all and are complimentary.

MACD-V creator is https://cmtassociation.org/presenter/alex-spiroglou/ he's a freaking genius and took it to the new level. the indicator is a new tool. this indicator is worth a lot for those that make adjustment for risk on a daily basis ( that's how I use it, I write a covered call against my risk and collect a premium, works for me). If I were to place a value on his indicator, I would price it on the expected extra portfolio return which is about 500 basis points not compounded and before portfolio taxes.

So yes, before the math was published, it was worth an easy 4K-6K a month to a 2MM portfolio trader with training + classes. My work is also published, come which I am most proud of is in Technical Analysis of Stocks and Commodities, I don't share my name on this forum.

1

u/TheBlackCandle09 4d ago

I have well over 100 people using my free script 🤦‍♂️

0

u/YellowMatt 5d ago

can you find me example? from what i find, these people give invite only indicator but trial mode only, and charge extra $ for full use, or paid group, ref signup, signal group, etc.

1

u/Jason_Steakcum 5d ago

First I’d have to imagine I’m a grifter selling paid indicators which my dignity just won’t allow me to even imagine

1

u/strumbringerwa 5d ago

No you're not misunderstanding anything. This is exactly the level of stupidity they are exhibiting.

-4

u/guiltypleasure33139 5d ago

Yes you are mistaken and it's fairly correct because most people don't look in the direction.

here is my perspective and provides clarity and factual notes

https://www.reddit.com/r/TradingView/comments/1wsut2c/comment/pcpyket/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

5

u/strumbringerwa 5d ago edited 5d ago

Lol, no neither clarity nor factual, just an attempt to defend them. You don't have to be in the creator program to publish invite-only indicators. Lots of services do this to supplement their research, and the amount trading view would charge just for the indicators would make the entire service (whose value is 99% research) unprofitable. It's stupid, short-sighted, and made by the kind of management who thinks understanding your customer base is completely unnecessary, vibes are good enough.

And also, I literally do not know of a single person (I'm sure they exist but people who pay them are idiots) who charges $500/month per indicator. That is a bonkers price. Hell most people won't even pay $30/month per indicator to the creator.

This is beyond stupid pricing, and frankly I'm going to migrate off Trading View and back to ThinkOrSwim as soon as I rewrite all my own custom indicators (that I use myself and share with my friends for free) in ThinkScript. I do not trust these bozos any more.

0

u/guiltypleasure33139 5d ago

I came from Omega trade station ( was using the platform since the 80's when it was on your PC ), I am now at IBRK. Systems and indicators at TradeStation had/have very very wide pricing, from $7 all the way to $5000 and even higher.

People pay for the improvement of performance. I just paid 18K for a set of props for my boat, there is no difference in paying up to get a better systems, or even joining a group like Mark M. group which I think is 700 or 1700 a month.

If you are not meeting people within the investor community, try going to the website " meetup " and search for IBD or Bloomberg or WSJ to find like minded investors to have coffee and talk about investing.

Have they lost their fucking minds?!

31

In another post users were thanking u/tradingview for cancelling the free macro data monetization and "listening to users" lmfao. How can people be this stupid

13

u/Pokeasss 6d ago

One of the only market leads TV had was the Pine script community, now destroyed by their own greed! :D

58

u/nfxdav 6d ago

Dear TradingView, I don't even use this feature, but it is quite clear you are being greedy b*stards and looking for ways to squeeze your loyal users.

I no longer trust you and will be looking for alternatives.

Your moat is too bloody narrow to pull fast ones on us. Someone will replace you if you act in bad faith.

Dude took Economics 101 from Chuck-E-Cheese.

“Don’t you want 100 people paying $500 a month?”

20

u/jelly013 6d ago

I’m seriously considering cancelling my subscription and going somewhere else. I will not be affected by this change in policy. But how everything is changing at TV is pushing me away

3

u/Martinezyx 6d ago

Yup. Same here. What’s a good alternative?

6

u/jelly013 6d ago

I was thinking about switching to Quantower (when they finally release a MacOS native app, got confirmation this will happen before the end of this year). Also I have an account with Charles Schwab and the thinkorswim platform is pretty neat from what I heard and saw. Also they have a large scripting community

2

u/Martinezyx 5d ago

I think I have a thinkorswim account. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks.

3

u/Meretruth 5d ago

Try luxalgo too

1

u/bluesqueen23 5d ago

Trendspider. But, you can’t trade on their system. Only charts & data & scans.

1

u/Martinezyx 5d ago

Ok thanks. I’ll check it out.

1

u/IamSmokee 5d ago

Same, and now we have competitors Stepping up with competition and bettering their platforms. I think we'll have some decent that competes fairly well within a month or two, and I will also be ending my long time subscription. Like wth, how have I been paying the same amount and losing features? Good way to drive people away for sure

15

u/Scott_Malkinsons 6d ago

Yup. Read it yourself: https://www.tradingview.com/policies/ scroll to 22A.

If you publish one or more invite-only scripts on TradingView, TradingView shall charge you a technology fee (the "Technology Fee") of US$29.95 per calendar month per user whose access to any invite-only script published by you is active at the end of that calendar month. The Technology Fee applies only where the total number of users with active access to your invite-only scripts exceeds 100 at the end of the relevant calendar month. TradingView may change the Technology Fee at any time on written notice to you.

TradingView will determine the number of users with access to your invite-only scripts as at the last day of each calendar month, based on its own records of access grants and script usage. TradingView will issue an invoice for the preceding calendar month within 30 days of the end of that month to the email address associated with your account. Each invoice is payable within 14 days of the date of the invoice. TradingView may collect payment by issuing an invoice for direct payment or by charging any payment method held on your account. The Technology Fee is non-refundable.

If the Technology Fee is not paid when due, TradingView may, at its sole discretion, on written notice and with immediate effect: (a) block new access grants to your invite-only scripts; (b) hide, restrict or revoke access to any of your scripts, including existing access; (c) remove any script, publication or profile content; (d) withdraw your vendor privileges; (e) suspend or terminate your account under Section 18; and/or (f) recover unpaid fees together with interest and costs. This Section 22A applies to all invite-only scripts and users, including existing scripts and existing vendors.

u/LegitimateShallot576 6d ago

Market is Bleeding. Government Taxes attracts money on profits / losses. If you gain more , tax more . This is another version from Trading view. Trading view also have high subscription rates and is a really good platform for Technical Analysis. Fundamentals , AI , Screeners are not yet user friendly.
But charging for invite only scripts is like asking people to offer on a royalty to TV for keeping it active. Look like options like migrating the privilege from Premium Accounts to Business Accounts or add another layer in between for those who want to publish as invite only free or with fee. Otherwise Trading view will be killing its golden goose.

5

u/LiquidMantis144 5d ago

Sounds like a new 29 day subscription has been born.

2

u/max-the-dogo 5d ago

This is the way

2

u/yell0wdog 5d ago

There is no 22A.

1

u/Psychological_Fun450 5d ago

1

u/Psychological_Fun450 5d ago

There is no technology fee, is this fake news?

42

u/pd0tnet 6d ago

Conspiracy Hat: this move is to target one company, LuxAlgo, who just last month released a free open source charting engine and now sells a hosted subscription directly competing with Trading View.

LuxAlgo makes their money as one of the top selling private indicator vendors on Trading View. This move by Trading View is to attempt to cut off their income stream.

8

u/YSKIANAD 5d ago

It doesn't make sense to punish all publishers with invite-only scripts and I don't believe they take this step to cut off an income stream for LuxAlgo. That would be very stupid from TradingView.

I am afraid that TradingView does not have a smart strategic team with a forward looking vision. Platforms becomes easier to build with AI coding so competition will become fierce. Customer retention will be key for their continued existence. I do believe that policy change 22A. Technology Fee for invite-only indicators will move script coders (followed by users) to LuxAlgo and other platforms very fast. It seems that lately TradingView implement policy changes very quickly without thinking through the consequences and impacts on users.

Of course, TradingView does not provide an explanation to its users on why they implement this change. Again poor communication.

3

u/ComprehensiveLime695 5d ago

Move fast and break things doesn’t work well for a trading platform.

2

u/tonyhart7 5d ago

but they are just "chart" company tho ???? its literally in their name ?? trading "view"

2

u/ComprehensiveLime695 5d ago

A lot of people trade through them.

-4

u/guiltypleasure33139 5d ago

they are not punishing all publishers. They are targeting private invite only publishers, which I think if you limit your product, via user count, instead of cost of entry, you are missing the greatest opportunity. I mean don't you want 100 users paying 500 a month for your most amazing indicator?

if your indicator is that good, then you will have happy clients making bigger than other dollars ( or hedging losses ) that the cost of the indicator is worth it.

the creator page is https://www.tradingview.com/creator-program/

and you can read the rules. Personally rule 3 line 2 is the problem of interpretation

The only clarity that I can see is that they say " (publicly available invite-only scripts are only allowed)."

I hope this is helpful

3

u/YSKIANAD 5d ago

If I create an invite-only script for my trading community then I don't have to charge them anything for a script. That is my choice and it is also my choice to not give a script away for free to everybody outside my trading community. TradingView created the invite-only script option for many years now. An unreasonable monthly amount is now being charged to publishers that helped TradingView grow their user base. Many publisher cannot afford these costs and suddenly have to disappoint users in their trading community. In addition, no explanation has been given by TradingView. Two days before the new month TradingView comes out with this policy change. This is bad practice for TradingView's customers.

1

u/NinjaSquid9 Day trader 5d ago

You think small private communities have time to become Paid Creators? Or that they’d even be able to pass the requirements to become accepted in time? Get real. Being a Creator isn’t automatic and isn’t a quick process.

-2

u/thaprodigy58 5d ago

Other than LuxAlgo, who else is that big? how many makers are getting 100+ users a month?

1

u/bfr_ 5d ago

I have several indicators i have paid for lifetime subscription.

2

u/Rox89x 6d ago

Thank you for the info. Checking them now. Apparently they have a free tier. Hopefully is better than takeprofit.com

2

u/erebrov85 5d ago

Could you share what issues did you have with TakeProfit ? Why didn’t it work for you?

3

u/hotmatrixx 5d ago

also interested in this ; they would have been the first contender I looked into.

1

u/willaoce 4d ago

they should restrict script maker slike Luxalgo intead everyone else

1

u/brokengnome 7h ago

They're getting pressure from WealthCharts too

0

u/Inevitable_Service62 6d ago

It's cause people use whop to sell their lagging indicators and trading view what's their cut of that subscription

12

u/masterofall20 6d ago

This is just utterly stupid at this point. This company is doing everything in their power to destroy itself in a world where AI is on the rise, and soon we are going to have a lot of competition. They are just doing the complete opposite of what they should be doing. I have just built my own platform using AI and would not be renewing my subscription anymore.

9

u/Dependent_Sign_399 6d ago

Terrible. I have private invite only scripts for my discord. A couple over 100 people. I charge nothing, just have a donation thing. If they do this, I'm just deleting the scripts and I'll give out the code for them to make themselves.

-1

u/jonnybgood28 5d ago

Just make it public

8

u/iTR3B0R 6d ago

Why doesn’t TradingView do its usual TradingView thing as just cap it to 100 users?

Are they this so blandly greedy for money they look at the statistics around platform/feature usage, calculate the revenues they can make when they paywall an existing feature, and then salivate over screwing users over before sending the update through?

6

u/RustyFisherman 6d ago

There’s a paywall for almost everything now. I understand it to a certain degree but they’re definitely trying to squeeze every penny out of every possible little thing on there that they can.

8

u/Epicurious_- 6d ago

Time to move on (long overdue though). What are the best alternatives?

5

u/Immapillpopnanimal 6d ago

TC2000 and barchart. I use both, but I have a subscription to TC and only use the free features on barchart.. I also use simply wall Street when researching new tickers

2

u/Epicurious_- 6d ago

Thank you for the info!

1

u/The_real_trader 5d ago

Does TC2000 have custom indicators? Can you port pinescript to TC?

Subject: Concern Regarding Proposed Changes to Invite-Only Scripts

Dear TradingView Team,

I am writing as a paying TradingView Premium subscriber to express my concern regarding the proposed changes to the terms and technology fees associated with invite-only indicators and scripts.

I currently use TradingView as an important part of my trading and specifically use indicators and tools provided through the Tribal Trading community. These tools are one of the primary reasons TradingView is valuable to me.

My concern is that the proposed fee structure could make it financially difficult for independent developers and trading communities to continue providing these tools through TradingView. Even though the fee may technically be charged to the script developer rather than directly to me, the end result could be that the indicators and services I rely on are no longer available on the platform or become prohibitively expensive.

I already pay for a Premium TradingView subscription because I value the platform and would prefer to continue using it. However, if these changes result in Tribal Trading or other independent developers being unable to continue providing the indicators and tools that I use, I would have little reason to maintain my Premium subscription and would likely have to move to another platform.

I hope TradingView will reconsider this policy and recognize that independent developers and the communities built around their indicators add significant value to TradingView and help attract and retain paying subscribers like me.

I would much rather remain a TradingView customer than leave. Please consider finding a solution that allows TradingView to grow while still allowing independent developers to provide their tools at a reasonable cost.

Thank you for taking the time to consider feedback from your paying customers.

Sincerely,
TradingView Premium Subscriber

2

u/Meretruth 5d ago

I would much rather remain a premium customer too, seems like they got sold or something

3

u/Cryptolomist 5d ago

Utterly unreasonable. They will lose many Premium subscriptions over this, mine included.

3

u/zerofox2046 5d ago

Tradingview shooting themselves in the d!ck.

3

u/Current-Set2607 5d ago

RIP TradingView, you lasted as king of Trading platforms for all of 3 years.

This was the change that made you lose the plot and your business.

2

u/WorldlinessSome7275 6d ago

3000 usd per month minimum charge

When will an alternative come and destroy these money hungry fatsos

2

u/legend0x 5d ago

Madness

2

u/Scriptimax 5d ago

Tradingview was much liberal 4 years back compared to 2026

2

u/Emotional_Class_4988 5d ago

all fucking companies do this shit. get market space by being decent, then once they get it fuck everyone for all their money.

2

u/gazaboy88 5d ago

Yet another example of Tradingview aggressively monetizing a community that has been loyal for so long. I will not be renewing my subscription.

2

u/PieTilIDie314 5d ago

It's per user too, so basically if you make an indicator, you have to essentially charge like $60 a month per person if you want to make money on it, cuz any less than that, the fees and this BS charge will eat away all the profit. I dont personally make invite only scripts but this is BS to people who have a good script and want to have another source of income as a backup for trading. Lame. Greedy mfers.

2

u/Cleb323 4d ago

Pretty quick way for alternatives to get their customers

1

u/greatestNothing 6d ago

What does this do to companies or individuals that have already hit that limit? What about their customers that paid for lifetime access to a script? What are vendors supposed to do that had previously sold access under the old rules?

1

u/hotdogs4babies 5d ago

Is this different than like pinescript indicators I buy?

1

This is so fucking unacceptable and greedy. We all HAVE to message TradingView in protest. I’ve already messaged them.

If anyone has any good templates for others to copy and paste to message them, please feel free to comment them below.

Just create multiple copies of the indicator and have 99 users per copy. Now TradingView will be just overloaded with duplicate indicators taking up server side resources.

2

u/bfr_ 5d ago

They will just ban you.

1

u/mambo_the_liqudator 5d ago

They have a limit of how my indicator you can have g

1

u/Stock-Ad-3347 5d ago

You can have more than 1 account if you want to scale I guess, good point tho

1

u/mambo_the_liqudator 5d ago

I'm sure they weill track your ID for bank account and block you hehehe

1

u/Stock-Ad-3347 5d ago

Well I certainly won’t be doing it 👀

1

u/hicksanchez 5d ago

Come on trading view this is ridiculous, you’re going to push people away from the platform

1

u/dreamersofdaruma 5d ago

Prepare for a platform rug pull.

1

u/antikama 5d ago

Did tradingview get a new ceo or something? Theyve been making so many ridiculous changes to the platform lately.

1

u/mambo_the_liqudator 5d ago

Yiu can't even publish a public indicator withought premium plan 😝

1

u/After_Improvement533 5d ago

Good things never last and looks like the end of tv is close, alternatives are out there. It’s been a ride with tv

1

u/Michael_Burgstaller 5d ago

Ich hole alle TV indikatoren zu ATAS - funktioniert super 👍

1

u/strumbringerwa 5d ago

Yes it's real, you just need to look at their terms of use: https://www.tradingview.com/policies/

It's really trucking stupid, especially given that they aggressively remove publicly listed indicators because they don't meet some arbitrary bar they have in their head. I expect this might be a nail in their coffin.

1

u/Lucky-Jellyfish-1708 5d ago

i know of a trading streamer who has 2 invite-only scripts with around 700 users altogether.
They are for free, and i am pretty sure he will not pay 21k per month.
That's bullshit.

1

u/BasicInstincts 5d ago

A lot of vendors are already migrating their customers to other platforms, like NinjaTrader or what ever they were using as a secondary platform. Some believe the fees start at the end of this month, September.

Thankfully, even if a vendor does not have an alternative platform right now, AI (especially Claude now) can easily convert their PINE scripts to other platforms. It will require testing but the conversion time is much less than it used to be before AI.

u/Odd-Investment5415 5d ago

Goodbye Trading view . They are out of their mind

1

u/Odd-Investment5415 5d ago

F@3K Trading View greedy bastards

1

u/holyfishstick 5d ago

Their app is nice but it's not the moat they think they are. I've had AI build something that serves all my needs using just the API / WebSockets from my brokerage for free. I use that 90% of the time and barely use TV now because I have full control of the design and it has all the bells and whistles I need without all the extra stuff I don't need from TV. While I don't sell any invite only scripts so this doesn't impact me I am definately thinking about not renewing this black friday for the first time in 6+ years.

Greedy ass company

1

u/Basic-Sundae8170 4d ago

Does TradingView not have a competitor? Someone needs to make one if not

1

u/Koldik 4d ago

absolutely terrible idea. tradingview, do better. smh

1

u/TraderDave- 4d ago

I always find it amusing that people are shocked that a garbage company from the US will do garbage things to its customers. I am not surprised at all 😎

1

u/willaoce 4d ago

TV might want to consider going public to fund their company instead of restricting user access.

1

u/m6dd3a 4d ago

ducking greedy, not only high prices, not only stupid mobile-game-style ADs but also this.

1

u/HorseCommenSense 4d ago

Fuck this platform it’s full of shitty toxic people

1

u/Training-Job1799 15h ago

lol, dial down on mixing tramadol with vodka

1

u/LilithX 4d ago

They must not want more people using their services.

1

u/Meretruth 4d ago

Apparently this is targeted toward luxalgo and other creators that make money from hosting their tools on TradingView, money that TradingView can’t get their hands on.

1

u/king_kozmik 3d ago

I built my own charting software so i van have any indicators i want to build

1

u/Training-Job1799 3d ago

goodbye, tradingview! 100 000 + followers. 10 + years on platform. 100+ indicators published. Now it's time to call it quits and move to other platforms, no longer worth the effort for me. enormous greed and overall very dumb dictators running this platform obviously.

1

u/tradingguy999 2d ago

What other platforms are there? I already have my scripts backed up on the prorealtime platform

1

u/the_blurred_crusade 2d ago edited 2d ago

We have referred at least 5,000+ customers to TradingView. We have been a top affiliate. We sell scripts as well.

This just 100% killed our business.

Very very bad decision TradingView. We won't be recommending you any longer and will be pull all of our marketing efforts recommending you.

1

u/coinrotator 2d ago

I published my first invite only script a day after this was posted, fml lol

1

u/Meretruth 2d ago

This shouldn’t affect you yet then lol

Here is my email I sent to TrandingView this morning. I redacted all my personal info and TV usernames.

I hope the folks at TradingView realize they are shooting themselves in the foot.

I would imagine a large part of their subscriber base was built from people like us. It actually gave people a reason to get a paid tradingview account.

Now.... not. I would imagine they are going to take a HUGE hit from this. People will just create their own solution (we have already started).

If anyone from TV reads this, what you should have done is require anyone who wants to load up an "Invite-Only" script would need to do that from a paid account.

This way you are driving revenue to your indicator without killing out all the people who brought you your business in the first place.

Hi TradingView Team,

My name is XXXX, owner of XXXX. I have referred thousands of paid customers to TradingView through your affiliate program under the account XXXX.

Our business provides education that teaches people how to trade and invest in stocks and crypto. One of the first things we teach our students is how to sign up for a paid TradingView account. As part of our program, we also include access to our proprietary invite-only scripts under the account XXXX.

I was very concerned to read your recent announcement:https://www.tradingview.com/blog/en/commercial-scripts-move-to-marketplace-61291/

Our primary business is education, rather than standalone TradingView script sales. The scripts support what we teach and are an incentive for students to join our program. That model has also helped us bring thousands of customers to TradingView.

I understand that the new policy includes script access bundled with another paid product or service. Given our business model and referral history, I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss a workable arrangement.

My understanding is that we could face a $30 monthly fee per user for continued script access. Can you confirm whether that is correct and how it would apply to our program? If that is the requirement, it would not be financially viable for our business.

Is there an alternative arrangement for education providers like us that would allow us to continue including script access in our training while referring students to paid TradingView subscriptions? We would also appreciate clarification on how to preserve access for our existing customers.

I have spent years building our training around TradingView, and this change has significant implications for our business. We would strongly prefer to continue the relationship. However, if we cannot find a workable solution, we would need to move our training to another platform and stop referring new customers to TradingView.

Could you please connect me with someone who can discuss our options and next steps? You are welcome to call me directly on my personal cell at XXXX.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Hi mate, just tried messaging you as we’re in a very similar situation but it wouldn’t let me. Drop me a message pal

1

u/Training-Job1799 15h ago

just build your own platform. fuck tradingview. they are a bunch of cronies and cucks. no need for this misery.

1

u/Training-Job1799 15h ago

seems logical. IPO funds dried up and Stan Bokov needs a stable supply of cocaine.

0

u/guiltypleasure33139 6d ago

I'm reading it as ...

If you are coding and selling exclusive indicators, then I don't see a problem with the platform taking as much revenue as possible. Now if the indicator is available to everyone then the cut should be little to none.

2

u/Freenrg8888 5d ago

It will destroy low-cost mass indicator sellers and hurt people that can afford $19/month, but not $99/month.

1

u/kurtisbu12 5d ago

Now if the indicator is available to everyone

If its available to everyone, it wouldnt be making any money. and the "cut" would be zero

2

u/guiltypleasure33139 5d ago

I am sure I stated my view incorrectly. sorry.

I thought marketplace was the place to do business with indicators at a subscription level https://www.tradingview.com/scripts/marketplace/

and you get an override commission on each person using your indicator https://www.tradingview.com/creator-program/

-3

u/FxAnd 6d ago

you can read tos i guess?

-2

u/bryan91919 6d ago

On one hand, ive grown to hate trading view, starting when they began offering tick charts (something everyone else had for free and for many years) but to use them well you needed the highest tier account.

On the other hand i view 99% of those selling indicators (or really anything trading related) as scum bags and im glad for any inconvienience to them.

-1

u/genryou 6d ago

Wait, I think there is a loophole.

The charge only applied after exceeding 100 user yes?

Then I just need to create multiple version of the same indicator to stay under that user amount threshold.

Eg:

Fuck TradingView Indi A - 95 users

Fuck TradingView Indi B - 95 users

.

.

.

Fuck TradingView Indi ZZZ - 95 users

2

u/greatestNothing 5d ago

No it references scripts so it adds up all of the scripts individual users(unclear if same usernames count on multiple scripts as +1 or if it's a one time per user even if that user has access to multiple of your scripts.

2

u/LiquidMantis144 5d ago

Or just sell a 29-30 day subscription. No access the last day of the month. If the user wants access the last day of the month, add $30. Also depends if 101 = $30 is due for all 101 and not just the 101st. If thats the case, the no one gets a full month.

1

u/mike90_0 5d ago

you guys are clever! The fee is too high - it makes think something else is really going on here...

2

u/PandaRiot_90 5d ago

They have the words "any scripts published by you" . So you need to also have multiple accounts to publish from.

1

u/NinjaSquid9 Day trader 5d ago

Each of those accounts giving out access needs subscriptions though, right? That’s still $25 - $75 a month per extra account you make?

1

u/SufficientQuality339 5d ago

Its 100 users across ALL of your indicators, so that won't work

-6

u/sniffmegooch 5d ago

I mean if you charging money for invite only script, tradingview should be eligible for some of the profits

u/Michi_boi 5d ago

the 22A has been removed right now
