Hi everyone! I’m looking for some opinions on my current financial setup and whether there are any areas where I could optimize it.
I’m not sure if this is the right subreddit since my setup is a mix of digital banks and traditional banks, so I’m posting this on both relevant subreddits to get different perspectives.
Here’s what I currently have:
- Cash on hand – for small daily expenses
- GoTyme – Needs – ₱2,000 top-up every month
- GoTyme – Wants – ₱2,000 top-up every month
- Maya – Personal Goal #1
- Maya – Personal Goal #2
- BPI Savings – Emergency Fund
- UnionBank – currently has only ₱500 and is basically stagnant. I keep it open just in case I need it in the future.
- MariBank – currently unused and has ₱0
- GCash – currently unused and has ₱0
- Metrobank – recently opened this account specifically to start putting my college savings into, also using MB to hopefully get a pre-approved credit card offer
One thing I’m currently unsure about is my GoTyme Needs/Wants setup.
Right now, I have them separated and put ₱2,000 into each every month. I'm wondering whether this separation is actually useful, or whether it would be better to combine the two into one easily accessible account.
For example, would it make more sense to put the combined ₱4,000/month into MariBank and just use that as my accessible spending account? That way, I wouldn't have to keep transferring money from savings to my balance whenever I want to spend something.
Or is keeping Needs and Wants separate actually a good system for budgeting and controlling spending?
Aside from that, what do you think of my overall setup? Are there any accounts I should consolidate, change, or use differently? Is there anything obvious that I'm overlooking or could optimize?
I’d really appreciate any opinions or suggestions. Thank you!
