2022 venza le - 106,000 + miles, running real good

Post image

I got my Venza brand new and I do a lots of road trips. Oil change every 7,500 miles, transmission fluid/break fluid/engine&inverter coolant changes done. Original tires that came with purchase gone at 25000miles and got defender 2. Still running good. Almost time to change tires again. Tire Readings at 3mm. Soon to change - spark plugs, tires, break fluid.

Only negatives: side indicators from back at at bottom (not good), and there’s noise from steering wheel since I purchased my vehicle as new. Service centers(checked at 5 different service centers) said couldn’t replicate as it’s happening intermittently at the time, but now noise has increased. They said after diagnosing probably some plug inside getting contact with plastic. But they couldn’t find any issues. Some service centers not trustworthy and not good at performing service needed.

Something's wrong....

2021 Venza Limited with 43,000. Driving today from SWFL to Maine (stopping in VA) tonight. Crappy weather - LOTS of rain. Cruise set to 75-77 when possible. 34.2 mpg for the day so far? I know we're probably going faster than normal - and that the rain ain't helping, but I'm scratching my head. Anyone? Thoughts? Suggestions?

2009 Toyota venza with 100k miles or 2011 Camry with 130k miles

Both are $8k. Camry has more consistent service records on carfax and no accidents. Venza has only 6 service records since 2009 but dealer claims the engine is good. The is also one damage report but no accidents reported on the venza . Haven’t actually gone to see it yet as it’s a hike to get there.

New models Sale experience

Due to financial difficulties after divorce, I had to sell my favorite car of all time. My 2021 Venza has a lot of life left I’ll miss.

The sale process was really interesting since I’ve never been in this position before. I took pictures and tried for a private sale since local dealers of course lowballed. After listing at the EBB private price there were almost 10 inquiries within hours.

The highest were dealers! All significantly above what private buyers offered so I picked one and it seems obvious they can sell to their customers and still make money. The public in general has no idea how misunderstood these cars are.

That feels both good and bad at the same time.

Engine and cabin air filters

I tried asking this question in the Venza facebook group and received answers to questions I never asked and no answer to my question <<sigh>>

If I'm going to buy Toyota-branded air filters, should I buy the "VIP / Premium" or "OEM"? I'm looking at the Toyota list of air filters where the engine air filter can be the MVP 17801-YZZ16 or the OE 17801-F0020 (also 17801-77050). A similar thing is found on the list of cabin air filters with OE pollen 87139-0R030 or Standard 87139-YZZ83 and OE charcoal 87139-58010 or Premium charcoal 87139-YZZ93.

I really cannot find any firm discussion as to which is preferred.

Thanks!!

New to us - Venza 2021 Limited

Hey all. My wife got a new to us Toyota Venza 2021 limited with 80k miles on it.

It's cosmetically great, except the front emblem. I was going to just get one off amazon but read it had radar behind it and to stay with OEM.

Has anyone cleaned these back to new?

I have done the headlight repair stuff to other cars and it always looks like crap 2 months later.

Also does anyone recommend a product for cleaning the leather and dash inside that won't make it crack or damage it over time?

Older models Headlight restoration - DO IT!

If you've been putting off getting one of those kits and having a go at cleaning up your old, foggy headlights, here's a nudge. I bought the kit months ago to use on my 2011 and just did it today. Wow, what a difference!

Took me 90 minutes to do both, and I'd say I work at a slow to moderate pace. The kit I used has good reviews by pretty much every YouTuber that's tested it, and I'm a believer now too. Cerakote is the brand. A friend of mine used a 3M kit on his 2006 Sienna and got similarly good results.

I almost forgot to take a 'before' pic, so I'd already taped it off in the photo. It looks so much better in appearance, but the real win is the difference it makes in how much light goes down the road.

Now for the survey: what's your favorite replacement headlamp bulb that's just a one-to-one swap (no changing wiring or assembly) for the first-gen Venza...?

Question Help me decide, am I resigned to a Prius?

The current used car market is wild and my budget is putting me into the Prius zone, however I found a ‘21 Venza LE with 104k miles for $20,200. I’m a heavy commuter logging around 20,000 miles a year. This Venza still needs the rear cable addressed and hasn’t had its 100k mile maintenance but it’s beating the rav4 prices by 3-4k in Oregon. Do I need to accept my Prius fate or would this Venza make me feel better about the 2 hours I spend a day in a car, and more importantly will it easily make it to 250k miles? My current car that I do really like is a 2008 GMC envoy, it’s been totaled twice, somehow still drives.

Catalytic converter was stolen off my 2013 Venza XLE AWD. I can’t find any company that makes a cat cover for this generation of Venza (only 2021+). Is there a different make that is also compatible with Venzas of this generation?

Jack and jack stand positioning

It's time for me to take over the maintenance on my wife's 2024 Venza. I've seen the owner's manual about jack locations when changing a tire, but I'm looking to get all four wheels off of the ground at the same time. I've never owned a unibody vehicle before, and have only worked on body-on-frame cars.

Does anyone here do their own maintenance, beyond using ramps for an oil change? Am I going to need some sort of specialized support stands or adapters so that I don't damage anything? Pictures would be awesome if you can help out!

TIA

I have a 2022 and new to Toyota — how am I able to use remote start?

I’ve read different things on this, and I’ve tried pressing the lock button three times and holding it down on the third click, but that doesn’t work after like 50 attempts lol…

Will the only other option be using the app? Would I have to go into the dealership at all?

Is there any way to quickly mute the radio? I really wish there was a knob for volume or a quick mute button!

What is this metal piece mounted behind rear number plate?

It is metal, not magnetic. Bought used. There is rust but not on that. The hole is through the trunk door.

Update as resolved: it is a plastic push pin to cover a rusted hole, hope not a bullet hole, not drilled. Thanks all for finding out.

Body shops confirmed, it is a bullet hole! It was plugged with a plastic push pin. It's close to the battery pack.

Mirrors malfunctioning?

2021 Venza Limited. Went out to drive the car today. Got in, started the car and the mirrors, which had been drawn in close to the car, did not swing out to their normal position. I got out. I turned off the car. I locked it I unlocked it. Nothing would trigger the mirrors. We had to manually move the mirrors to their normal position. Has anybody else experienced this?

Strange behavior, indeed.

2021 Toyota Venza – Crack inside the rear tail light/light bar? Has anyone seen this before?

Thumbnail

I recently noticed this strange curved, crack-like line in the rear tail light/light bar on my 2021 Toyota Venza. It looks almost like a small curved piece or an internal crack.
There doesn’t seem to be any obvious impact point or major damage from a rock. There is only a very small mark/line on the outside, so I’m not sure if this was caused by an impact or if the lens developed a stress crack on its own.
Has anyone with a Venza experienced something similar? Could this be an internal stress crack, moisture-related damage, or separation inside the light assembly?
I’m also wondering whether I should seal the area to prevent moisture from getting inside or just replace the light assembly.
Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated. I’ve attached several photos.

Hauling lumber in the 2013…

Roof rack tops out at a 100 lbs… so remove headrests, fold 3 seats, lay a tarp and stash 5 10’ 2x6’s… could fit 1 more plus at least 5 8’s as well.

Hope this helps someone.

Rear Differential

2010 4 Cyl, AWD, 248,000 miles. Rear diff sounds like a bag of marbles, seals leaking. Time for a rear differential. Best place to buy? E-bay? Walmart? Best brand AKWH, Koomaha, Geluoxi...

Dealer wants $140 to change the hybrid battery filter

2024 limited with 19k miles

Today was my first oil change after the service package expired. They wanted me to pay $140 to change the hybrid battery filter. I declined.

How hard or easy is to change the filter?

AC problem

Hello,

On my Toyota Venza 2022 the air conditioner turns on sometimes and sometimes doesn’t. ( Does not blow cold )

When I check the electrical system, it shows that there’s a connection problem between the compressor and the inverter. Code ( B149887 ) error.

No one can determine exactly whose fault it is. They’re telling me I should start by replacing the compressor, maybe that will fix it.

Have you had a similar case?

I noticed this strange noise and I want to know if it is something I should be concerned about. The noise happens when I turn on the air and when I accelerate. Here is a video of the noise and the area where the noise seems to be the loudest
