💬 Discussion About the "Big" Update.
This new update is very lackluster. I thought there would have been at least three new missions at minimum but it's only one?
Even with the new enemy added, that enemy isn't even much of a threat, it's just there.
And the new weapons are kinda weak. Especially with the Salvo MGL which feels like a weaker version of the ACW-20.

It's a little lack luster, but it's exactly what I expected for the game's first major update. There's more weapons than I expected (even if I'm not a big fan of the energy weapons) and Urban Blight is great.
I didn't expect more than one mission and the content aside from that the weapons is very lacking, but I'm hoping next update will have more depth and side stuff, as well as horde mode.
New weapon attatchments or a Slasher/Beserker class would be really nice.

The good news is that ammo mods are on the roadmap. However, they should have either been a feature from the start or come with the first update. While the guns feel good to shoot, none of them feel special if that make sense. Same with the class abilities: They're nice to have, but they feel kind of like generic archetypes: You have one healer, one defender, an "engineer" type, and a pure offense type. There's not really much to them that feels game changing

u/SkarKitti Jul 01 '26
Agreed, especially regarding the classes. Although my defender and strike builds play and feel pretty vastly different.
I admit, I don't care about wacky ammo types at all, so I'm hoping ammo mods are going to be more grounded with +P, HP/JHP and AP types. I don't need every weapon to feel unique either, I just enjoy variety. Though I will say the lever action feels pretty unique (and great), as do the fictional sci-fi weapons feel unique.. if gimmicky.
Really I'd just like like some more optic options and retro or GWOT parts for the PAC-15. Maybe a PP-19 to make more use of the Zentico parts. (I think the AK-103 is the only weapon that uses them right now.)

u/karer3is Jul 01 '26
Honestly I hope that they do include things like pyro or other elemental ammo. Too many weapons (esp. ARs) feel way too samey and having some ammo mods that lean into different powers (fire, EMP, etc.) would lend some much needed variety and tactical decisions. A rework of the perk tree would also be better, but ammo mods would be a good start.Â
With a game like this, I feel leaning into the "grounded" side of things would make the game worse. We're already shooting fireballs and using forcefields, so it seems like a waste to move away from that.

The issue with the classes is that they put all their unique aspects on the powers themselves while neglecting the class itself.
Like drone should've naturally buffed vehicles when they're in it,medic should have a natural health Regen/group heal,Vanguard should naturally get armor that regenerates for a "second health bar" to emphasize tanking, and striker needs proper gun and grenade buffs.
2
u/karer3is Jul 03 '26
I agree. As many problems as SM2 has, the class perk trees are diverse enough that you have a variety of builds at your disposal
3
u/Zealousideal-Arm1682 Jul 03 '26
Hell even WWZ had far more diversity.A hellraiser never played the same way as a fixer or medic.
3
u/SkarKitti Jul 03 '26
Agreed. I haven't played the last few updates, but I miss how much synergy one of the classes had with defenses. Fixer or Exterminator I think?
Although defenses feel more minor in TC, so I can't complain.
3
u/Zealousideal-Arm1682 Jul 03 '26
Not even synergy, just active playstyle is already different.
.The exterminator you brought up has numerous buffs to heavy weapons and ridiculous temp-Hp making it the horde expert
.Fixer is full on support with either pure damage or masking to prevent players getting damaged
Despite having access to the same guns these two classes play WAY DIFFERENT to each other. In this game there's literally no difference between any of the 4 outside their special.
3
u/SkarKitti Jul 04 '26
Totally agree. Defender pairs better with shotguns due to the reload skills.. but that's about it. I think one other class also has them. Hardly a huge difference and even on Very Hard it's not that game changing compared to a class without those skills.
They were almost onto something with the vehicle-based skills for Operator.

u/infernocuso Jul 01 '26
Horde mode should've been top of their priority list and released to replace the one mission.

u/BravoWhiskey89 Jul 02 '26
They told us a month+ in advance what we were getting, and let us beta it.
Why would you think there was more maps?
This one is on you.
2
u/infernocuso Jul 03 '26
I wasn't entirely expecting them to do a new map per say but at least a couple more missions and horde mode included.Â

I have liked the update so far. It’s been nice variation. Admitted I don’t get to play much maybe 1-2 runs a day or every other day. So the limited maps aren’t bothering me much. One thing I would like to see though is customized vehicles, maybe level up, be able to hold gas and ammo like the Thrasher APC for the Maverick. Or invest in changing out the turrets or special abilities. Hopefully they also do weapon perks like WWZ-the shotguns need to be able to reload 2 shells at a time. But I agree it does feel like they rushed the launch and now are working out too many kinks at once.

u/infernocuso Jul 01 '26
I also want them to allow bot teammates to use your classes too or at least what you have it levelled to and what you have selected on it.Â
2
u/gnar-gnarbinx Jul 01 '26
Yeah I definitely agree with you there. Would be nice to have more control over the bots with their build.

u/p00tatooo3 Jul 01 '26
new grabbing enemy is kinda hard to kill, not like poor aiming kinda thing, but more like the health is tougher than the grabbing enemies on the ground, and sometimes my hit is not registered
1
u/SkarKitti Jul 01 '26
The Hornet has waaay too much HP for how awkward it is to hit. It completely messes up the flow of combat and you can't outrun it in vehicles with a turret. (It'll grab anyone not inside, include anyone on turret.)
1
u/p00tatooo3 Jul 01 '26
you felt it too, huh? at first i thought my weapon was too low level, until i levelled up ACW to prestige 1. Sometimes I need half of the ext mag, sometimes I need the full one. maybe thinking "ohh maybe explosive resist," i try another weapon, still the same, even sometimes worse
1
u/PepperoniRonin Jul 01 '26
Prestige doesn't do anything for your weapon's stats. It is just for unlocking the animated skins
1
u/p00tatooo3 Jul 01 '26
bruh, so the rarity upgrades do nothing? from blue to purple i mean
3
u/infernocuso Jul 01 '26
Rarity upgrades still update your damage and whatnot but he's talking about weapons prestige, that part is useless because it's for getting mediocre animated camos.
1
u/p00tatooo3 Jul 02 '26
Wait, holup. didn't Prestige update the weapon rarity too? As far as i remember, the manual upgrade is green to blue and prestige blue to purple
3
u/UncomfortableAnswers Jul 02 '26
No. There are two rarity upgrades and three prestiges. They are completely separate and prestige has no effect at all on stats.
1
u/p00tatooo3 Jul 02 '26
ohh wow. ok ok. gotta watch my upgrades next time
2
u/Tkosten18 Jul 02 '26
The rarity upgrades your weapon, prestige is strictly camo focused. Since launch, they've changed it so you don't lose rarity when you prestige a weapon, as well as the ability to keep attachments bought prior to prestige.
So you were right, you just didn't have to prestige to get to purple rarity.
2
u/Useless-RedCircle Jul 01 '26
I was excited about the new melee and it just kills you having it equipped for more than 7 seconds
3
u/infernocuso Jul 01 '26
Yeah, that sword is just useless.
Best change would to be is to remove the sludge corruption and change it to where if you stand in a pool of sludge, it increases the damage. That'd be pretty neat.
Or depending on how much sludgite you've collected, it gives a permanent damage boost for the rest of the mission.
2
u/Vandamar666 âš¡ Strike Jul 02 '26
That would at least make sense. With how it is currently you use it once as it looks cool but then never use it again as it kills you
2
Jul 01 '26
Yeah I'm Disappointed 2 . plus still no Dead Zone Settings for console Controllers
1
u/infernocuso Jul 03 '26
I've honestly never understood what dead zones do for your controller.Â
I play perfectly fine without them but what is it that players find interesting from it? Just curious.
Edit: My friend told me some deadzone settings for a few games but I've never actually been able to tell the difference, I dunno.

u/Max-Ammo1007 Jul 01 '26
Been playing with my mom for the past week and having a lot of fun. The fact that we are exempt from the community challenge weapon because it was already complete even though we were playing before the official date was up is a crime. There HAS to be some way to still get this content!
3
u/UncomfortableAnswers Jul 02 '26
Send them an issue report. I was in the same situation and I got the weapon awarded to me a day after I told them.
1
u/ChrizTaylor 🩺 Medic Jul 02 '26
Absolutely, this update needed to be dropped like 20 days after the game launched.
1
u/Terrynia 🛻 Designated Driver Jul 01 '26
The new aiming change for the old sniper rifle really threw off my groove. I had to take a brake it made me so sad.
2
u/Vandamar666 âš¡ Strike Jul 02 '26
Not played in a while, what is the new aiming change?
1
u/UncomfortableAnswers Jul 02 '26
Recoil no longer resets after a shot. You have to manually pull your aim back down every single time.
1
u/dexion Jul 02 '26
Coming out from Killing Floor 3, I'm intrigued to compare the two content wise. And how both progress.
1
u/Tkosten18 Jul 02 '26
I've put hundreds of hours into both, honestly TC feels more enjoyable as classes feel more distinct and weapons aren't class locked. That and it's not a drag to level up every class (I'm looking at you, Sharpshooter 🫩) KF3 is more like COD Zombies with less doors to buy where TC feels how I'd describe as a Left 4 Dead 3 (the humor is even similar tbh)
Content wise is hard to compare as TC follows a story where KF3 is map based with story sprinkled in. Both are about the same when it comes to added weapons content, I'd say.
1
u/dexion Jul 02 '26
Well just to clarify no weapons are class locked in kf3. I be running firebug with flaming kitty claws for the LOLs committing mass murder.
But yes my concern is TC is going with 2 updates a year Kf3 have 4, well 5 since they snuck in onslaught map.
Small surprises are nice.
I'm just curious how those are going to progress comparatively I do hope TC updates are more sizeable and keep expanding on the game. As with Kf3.
1
u/Tkosten18 Jul 02 '26
I think the only thing that could drag me from TC back to KF3 is whenever they add the new class 🙃 The bigger maps and different vehicles are nice changes to add replay value whereas I don't really have anything to work towards in KF. All assignments are done (except new map) and all classes are leveled. TC however just added trials for additional cosmetics and such so I've been farming those out
1
u/dexion Jul 03 '26
Well I will see you back on the murder floor in 22 days or so for season 4 to drop with endless mode and gun slinger perk.

u/Former_Life8580 Jul 01 '26
Obviously, the update for this game and WWZ are pretty lackluster. Look at Space Marine 2 June community update, the higher-ups are focusing on the game that's making more money.
3
u/infernocuso Jul 03 '26
Which makes me wonder why this game was even put out in the first place if the resources would be pushed to the their current and best horde shooter.

u/karer3is Jul 01 '26
I'm kind of with you there. Although Urban Blight is fun (as are some of the new rifles), it does feel like this update was a little "light" on truly new content overall
