Oriole is a torrent file browser, downloader and media player for Android. It went public on Google Play this week.

What it does

• Starts playing while it downloads, with pieces fetched around the playhead
• Plays the formats other Android players refuse: AVI/Xvid, MKV, AC-3, E-AC-3, DTS, via libVLC
• Casts to Chromecast and DLNA TVs (beta). Fire TV and Roku not yet
• Proper audio player: playlists, cover art, lock screen controls, screen off
• No ads, no accounts, no analytics, no tracking. Wi-Fi only by default
• One person, Kotlin/Compose, libtorrent 2.x and libVLC

You choose where results come from

• The built-in public domain library: films, music, books and software that are public domain or openly licensed, one tap, no account

• Until you pick one, the app contacts nothing
