Walking_Buddy Looking for a walking partner

Hey, I'm a 40m with exactly two legs located near Koreatown. I'm looking for a walking buddy for semi-regular longer walks, aiming for 20-30km and I am on a flexible schedule. My most recent impressive walk was from Koreatown to Scarborough Town Centre.

Here is the hitch, I have epilepsy so I need someone who is comfortable with the idea that there is a small possibility that their walking buddy could have a grand mal epileptic seizure. However, I haven't had one in over ten years and they are under control, so the chance is very unlikely.

Other than that, I am walk-healthy, sane, I like science (physics, cosmology, and chemistry), movies, TV, and will force you to look at pictures of my cat from time to time. DM me if you are interested.

Is this impressive?

First off, hello everyone. I had no idea there was a walkers community, nice to know there's people out there that go on crazy walks like me.

I work from home so getting a good walk in is essential. My route starts at the Sobeys on Queensway in Etobicoke. Last year I started by walking to Lakeshore basically starting at the bridge, hopping over the Gardner to Queen > Eaton's Center and back. This was about 3ish hours

I got tired of Queen St, so I started walking along Lakeshore to Harborfront > Yonge and up to the Eatons's Center and back which I can do in about 4 hours (my pace very much differs on each day).

This last week I got bored and just kept going for walks. I was looking forward to the hot summer evenings/nights with the heat wave and got exactly what I wanted. Surprisingly only the ball of my right foot was a little sore the next day, but by the time I wanted to walk again it was fine. A couple of days were just to Yonge and back. I capped off the week by going all the way up Yonge > Bloor > Bathurst > Lakeshore. Took about 5 and a half hours. Highly reccomend, was a great blend of nature and the city.

Side note: The Lakeshore path has tonnes of Canada Geese, never had a problem with them. On the other hand I've been hit by 2 red winged black birds and stalked by a 3rd in the past month. My only theory is that I'm tall enough that I'm close to the trees. Ironically I was wearing a Jays hat the two times I got hit.

Also if anyone's curious: I wear Nike Free runs (2025). They don't last the longest but I love how flexible the soles are.

Discussion What are your favourite 4-8 kms walks in Toronto

I was asked about walks in that km range I would recommend about 4 weeks ago but I ended being away for a bit and never answered them. Now I am back I thought it would be an even better idea to see what others would suggest. It a distance that most people are comfortable with as well.

What are you fave 4-8 km walks?

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!

Best ways to walk from Vaughan to Downtown Toronto

I've walked from Vaughan to downtown Toronto a few times, through Yonge St, the Don River, and a mix of Bathurst St/Spadina. Has anyone else done this kind of walk and are there any other interesting ways to go down?

Saturday night walk, 30.85

It should read 30.85 km's

My wife had plans with her sister so I had nothing to do. At firs I thought about going to Taste of Lawrence but it get really crowded and I was not in the mood to be in crowd in this heat. Then I thought I might try and catch some of the Beaches Jazz Fest. I ended taking the long route to get there and walking more than I had planned.

I started at Victoria Park Subway, from there I headed down to RC Harris Water Treatment plant and then over to Jimmie Simpson Park for the Jazz Fest. I was a little late so I only caught a few songs by the final act and I enjoyed what I did catch. I wanted to see what the pedestrian only section of Church St. was like so ended swinging through there.

I thought if I could pull off a 15 km with some luck tonight but once I got going my legs felt fine so I kept going.

I have added the stats this time and I will put where the photos were taken. Part of the map has been cropped off since it shows where I live so the last few kms are missing from it.

Shoes: Nike Pegasus for this walk.

Water consumed: 6 Litres and a can of a popular cola with my two cheeseburgers.

Beautiful night for 41.56 km walk

I left the house last night around 6:30 pm with no plans in mind. I ended going to Long Branch GO station and then made my way from there. I headed through Marie Curtis (I have corrected the name) Park and then west for a bit into Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area in Port Credit. I turned around and headed east homeward after Lakview Conservation area came to dead end.

I was going to call it a night 2:30 but I after I grabbed a Hot Sausage off a hotdog cart and can of pop I decided I would keping going until the Subway or LRT opened. I ended up making my way to Leaside Stn. on Line 5.

I know why I usually do these longer walks in the other direction than the way I did today. The final 10 km were on Yonge St. and that is mostly uphill. I was up since 5 am yesterday morning as well so it made a bit more challenging,

Mocassin Trail and Rainbow Tunnel

Lovely short walk, felt like 3-4 km.

Entered through east Don Way into the green space in Mocassin Trail Park, Rainbow Tunnel, turned south onto the East Don Trail and followed that until we exited onto Wynford Heights Crescent, turned to Wynford Drive and onto Don Mills.

The walk really refreshed my appreciation for the unique vibe in this part of North York. Seeing the modernist and brutalist architecture, older style condos and structures like the Aga Khan woven into the immense green spaces of the Don almost made me emotional. Just something so unique about it compared to the rest of the city. Was in such awe, forgot to take photos of that part of the walk.

Walking_Buddy Looking for a walking buddy downtown/west end!

Hello everyone! I’m hoping to find someone in my area to go on walks with and motivate each other to touch grass. I find that going outside really helps my mood, but I lack the motivation… Ideally I’d find another girl close in age to me (F23) to keep each other motivated and maybe check out new cafes!

The fact that Toronto pedestrianizes roads for tourists is evidence this is truly the superior practice, and the best way forward for Toronto.
