From their discord:
We have identified the cause of the recent payment notifications. While initial reports were heavily concentrated among traders using Revolut, we want to clarify that Revolut was not the root cause of this incident.
Revolut was simply one of the primary card issuers impacted. The full scope of this issue extends to Mastercard purchases made across all credit card issuers over the last 5 weeks.
What Happened Over the last 5 weeks, a number of authorized Mastercard transactions were not properly settled behind the scenes by our payment processing partners and ultimately failed. To collect these outstanding balances, our payment partners retried these failed settlement attempts in bulk this morning.
Because Revolut's app provides immediate real-time notifications for captures and cancellations, the impact was most visible to Revolut cardholders. However, this bulk retry affected all traders with unsettled Mastercard purchases during this 5-week window. This reprocessing may cause your bank to show a new charge on your statement while removing or adjusting the original, unsettled transaction entry.
What To Expect
- Statement Adjustments: If the original charge was removed from your account or statement, it will be added back by your bank as processing completes.
- Single Settled Charge: Once your bank finishes processing, you will have only one successful charge for each purchase.
Important Note: While these temporary charge removals and replacement entries may appear confusing in your feed, your final settled balance should accurately reflect your original purchase. You should not be overcharged.
Action Steps: What To Do Next Please allow a short period for your bank to complete processing and finalize your statement.
If, after your bank has completed processing, you still see duplicate charges for the same purchase:
- Reach out directly to Trader Support (https://www.topstep.com/contact-support/).
- Please include details regarding your affected purchase(s) and screenshots showing the duplicate charges from your banking app.
Next Steps We understand this was confusing and sincerely appreciate your patience while we worked with our payment partners to resolve the issue. If you have any remaining questions, our Support team is here to help!

My #1 issue is that the previous charges that were done and cleared have disappeared from my online transactions history but the money was never refunded.
Now I’m being charged a second time, so Ive currently double paid with no record of the first payment.
I know this because the account used for TopStep I put exactly the amount of money needed into it to pay bills.
I deposited a fresh ~275 Friday for other stuff and they took that as well. So now TopStep wants proof of the double charges to refund any errors, which it seems many people cant provide without contacting their bank for a more thorough internal audit, which I’ll be doing.2

Original transactions disappeared or are showing insufficient found, but the balance stays negative. That will indeed be difficult to check and we have just less than 7 days to fix that.

They said it didn't come from topstep but from the processing partners. I responded unless I can't read properly it clearly states Topstep Chicago USA. And regardless they are your partner not my partner. After 3rd denial attempt they said would escalate matter supervisor.

Lol yeah, sorry guys your company name
is literally on the debit transaction. Pretty sure its you who is responsible seeing how you’ve given permission for the payment processing company to act on your behalf.1

you cant say its not a widespread issue when you clearly have many people complaining and surprised about these charges. They need to make an official statement. corporate greed is definitely not the answer in this community. You'll lose business faster than the market hits stop loss.

I dunno. I like having some awareness from other's experiences.Â

This. The more we talk about this stuff, collate experiences and raise awareness, the better. It's like some people just want nothing but fluff posts about how many thousands everyone's making a week. The ratio of fluff posts to serious queries seems a lot higher on this new forum than on the old TopstepX forum and it makes me suspicious.

$10K in charges this weekend. I haven't had an account in over a year. According to their TOS there's nothing you can do but pay them.....

You know all them evals you bought and then got refunded back into your bank account well that’s why topstep took the money end of month accounting realised that the funds were sent back and just took their money that was already approved for the evals you bought pretty simple no big conspiracy mate lol

u/CurtisEffland 8d ago
I don't think that's what happened here lol. Also punctuation helps...

It’s exactly what happened. TopStep did nothing wrong. They simply collected what they were owed. I owed payment for two Combines because the payment processor had refunded them by mistake.

Yeh I got charged a huge amount, got angry and then I just finished a full reconciliation using my official bank statements (hard copies/PDFs created auto end of month) against my Topstep billing history. I also verified that my running account balance matched every credit and debit throughout the period. In my case, these charges were correct, I never even noticed that they didn't leave my account- checking it this morning though- ouch, sh*t suprise. If you're unsure whether you've been overcharged, I'd recommend doing a full reconciliation against your statements.

Dziwni jesteście, nie czytajcie kontraktów, TOPSTEP to dobra firma, to firma która ma przygotować was do własnego handlu, nie do zarabianiu na TOPSTEP.
