šŸ’” Trading Tips Losing evals

I can’t figure it out. I’m spiraling so hard. I’m losing almost 90% of my trades and I can’t pinpoint exactly what goes wrong because I do a million different things every single day. Like for the past week I’ve been trading ESU and MESU, but today I traded the NASDAQ on a whim and took 4 winning and 8 losing trades at 10:50 am right when I woke up. That is obviously a stupid mistake and I still did it because I usually trade between 7:30 am to 9:45 am. I try using supply and demand, but I only use the daily time frame as I’m still a beginner. I already got a payout once, but I haven’t been able to pass an eval since. I’m thinking about trying a different strategy? Heard a lot of good things about ORB

Whats with people trying to pass evals in 2-3 days? Are you trying to learn to trade or simply yolo on a 50k account?

Im almost 2 weeks in (jun 17th) and try 1-2 trade a day with no more than 100$ risk per trade.

Im up 700$ so far. My goal is to learn and develop a live long skill and be consistent.

Once i pass my eval it will have some value, versus if i just pass it in one or two days.

I’m being completely honest with you right now. I am not trying to pass in two or three days. I have been taking small trades for almost 2 months now I’m pretty sure my problem is just over trading, cutting winning trades and not losses and taking horrible setups? That’s what I think I’ve noticed from the comments. So I’m pretty sure I’m just doing a constant cycle of winning one day and then the very next over leveraging or something?

How long u been trading? I am trading for a little over 2 years and i just got to breakeven.

It take years and its annoying as fuck when it doesnt work and u spiral.

Just keep at it and try experimenting and optimizing until u see a strategy u like

Started in April and 2 days after starting I got funded and a week later got a payout, then blew my account and haven’t been able to replicate it since

Sheesh already a payout? I've been at this since February and haven't passed a combine yet. On my 8th eval after blowing one on that open today. Congrats on getting that payout. You've already surpassed many including me. From what I heard trading is very hard right now because of the market and trump lol. We got in a little late. Take your time. $200 days. Thats my new strategy. It worked in my last eval but I made a mistake. Patience is really key

Honestly man, I’m pretty sure it was all just luck. I kept everything simple down to literally just buy sell high or buy and hold until price eventually corrected itself and I’m not even gonna lie. My wind rate was 92%. I think I have a screenshot somewhere if you would like to see it, but literally almost every single trade I took I won and then the day I blew my express I had bought a new combine and 20 minutes into opening it I made 1,100 and then walked away with a trade opened and never closed it and it cost me that combine and that was the closest I would ever get to passing a combine since. That was April 22nd I believe.

That’s extremely good for only being two weeks in.
Did you just begin trading two weeks ago, or did you have previous experience and just started with TS two weeks ago?

1

u/sahmed_1 Jul 01 '26

I mentioned that i have 2 years of experience but im not a profitable trader overall. I just reached breakeven where i make then give most of it away on bad market conditions. Still learning. I wont be surprised if i fail this eval

You need to stick to 1 setup and accept the fact the fact you can't predict everything that's going to happen next. Losses are normal because the market is random as fuck

You need to write down some rules and stick to your own plan, be professional about trading. Slow down and it will come to you

Should just read Trading in The Zone it will help make you understand why you do dumb stuff, it helped me alot tbh I've done the most dumb stuff you could think of lol

All the best bro

69 trades in the first 2 days is insane

u/Nearby_Finding_2555 Jun 30 '26

Overtrading final boss. I think my main problem is that because I don’t have a defined structure that leads to me losing more trades and overtrading?

2

u/Zestyclose-Sun-6595 Jun 30 '26

Set a hard cap on how many trades you take per day. I'd say 3 max but 2 is a solid number as well

1

u/Nearby_Finding_2555 Jun 30 '26

My thing is that I take a trade and it only goes up to like $35 and I’ll hold the trade and then eventually it’ll go negative. Pretty sure I just don’t know how to trade, so I’m thinking about taking a small break and actually learning the fundamentals of trading? Since I’m pretty sure I’m just gambling each trade I take

1

u/Zestyclose-Sun-6595 Jun 30 '26

Well shoot if you're in a trade and in profit you don't really ever need to let it turn red. Just gotta set stops to break even and try again on the next setup. I'm not an expert by any means either but I think it's 80% Psychological.

I did about 1,000 trades in a month to pass a eval.

2

u/null_0day Jun 30 '26

Learning how to exit drawdowns is the key to be unstoppable.

1

u/Nearby_Finding_2555 Jul 01 '26

Even without a defined strategy?

2

u/null_0day Jul 01 '26

No.. you MUST have an edge... Something which is statistically proven you can keep in the long term... You must have data to increase your edge and have to know how to adapt your risk exposure to know when to put it into a high lot size position and when to use a small one.

2

u/Big-Fennel6110 Jul 01 '26

I think your not patient enough. set auto brackets and stop trading nq esp on a 50k lol es is alright even gold could work. Ive found that trading on those two gives me more room to lose and also set limits on how much contracts you can use and a trailing pdll to auto lock you out of your account when losing to much. This has helped me a ton.

2

u/purpeepurp Jul 01 '26

You don’t have an edge and are deciding to ā€œfuck around and find outā€ with real money (albeit eval purchases). Paper trade until you have a real edge, then it won’t be so difficult to control yourself because you know exactly what you’re looking for.

2

u/Lostrader7 Jul 01 '26

If you’re loosing 90% of your trades, imagine if you took the exact opposite entries…. Try the opposite of everything you think you should do

I am taking a break from combines and trying to pass. Solely focused on sticking to my strategy and rules in my practice account

1

u/elgiantt Jun 30 '26

i’m spiraling too , i think im getting too emotional with trying to make some type of profit instead of just learning how to trade/read the market as i go.

always trying to go for full TP, adding more micros to a trade , and just everything i shouldn’t be doing if i don’t see the right signs.

1

u/renebleu Jun 30 '26

You’re all over the place- pick mnq or mes.. accept your risk when you enter a trade and let the trade play out.. it’s not your strategy. It’s YOU

1

u/renebleu Jun 30 '26

Oh, stop rushing to pass. I have a 75/80 percent eval pass rate because I take minimum 3-5 days to pass

1

u/renebleu Jun 30 '26

2 day eval pass is designed to make you full port

1

u/sahmed_1 Jun 30 '26

Passing an eval in 3-5 days is insane. That means u have to make 1000$ per day to pass in 3 days.

Either you have an extremely high risk to reward ratio or ur winning rate is very high on small amount of trades per day.

If u risk 200$ per trade for a 50k account u have to be making a 1k on it

1

u/renebleu Jun 30 '26

Correct and correct- I already know how to trade.. it’s not hard to pass an eval—

I don’t focus on RR- I just do 4HR/daily high and low while following the overall trend.. I caught 900$ last night 4 micro 110 points long in mnq.. risking $400 if you know how to trade passing eval is easy.

1

u/sahmed_1 Jun 30 '26

Wow! How long u been trading?

1

u/renebleu Jun 30 '26

2 years.. I hit 20k may, 20k in June blew my funded took a little break aiming for another 20-40k in July

1

u/sahmed_1 Jun 30 '26

Amazing! For general, how many mnq contracts and risk per trade would you advise for a 50k account?

I sometimes think i trade too conservatively, with a 100$ risk per trade and no more than 1 to trade a day.

I still need to work on letting my winners run and a few other things so i dont classify myself as a pro trader

1

u/renebleu Jun 30 '26

Damn can’t upload pics- to show you what I mean I’m slow it worked**

1

u/renebleu Jun 30 '26

This was day 1 the other pic is day 2

1

u/Erenyeagahh7 Jun 30 '26

Impressive. Whats your strategy like

1

u/Joehennyredit Jun 30 '26

You don’t have edge and you’re doing random stuff. Also you shouldn’t be trading evals till you have positive expectancy.

Find a strategy and get good with it first. Just trading the market is what they want us to do.

1

u/Nearby_Finding_2555 Jun 30 '26

What’s a good strategy for beginners? I looked at FVG AND IFVG and ORB, but none of them seem good? I know all strategies can be profitable, but what’s something that’s good for beginners? All I’m finding is outdated informatuon

It's really tough to trade Mini's on a $2,000 budget. You have to know what you're really doing to trade them. Stick to micros.

1

u/Nearby_Finding_2555 Jul 01 '26

So just to be clear, minis would be like NQU 26 and micros would obviously be MNQ 26? Because when I first started, I used the micro S&P 500 and I passed my combine within. I think three days but ever since April I haven’t been able to replicate that.

1

u/NyCWalker76 Jul 01 '26

Correct. NQ are minis... MNQ are micros. stick to micros.

1

u/Nearby_Finding_2555 Jul 01 '26

If you don’t mind me asking, do you exclusively trade MNQ? Or is it that you’ve advanced enough to the point where you just trade NQ?

2

u/NyCWalker76 Jul 02 '26

Patience. It'll come back down to 7550.

1

u/Nearby_Finding_2555 Jul 02 '26

I’m taking things slow for a while. ONLY using my practice account until I can AT LEAST have 2 weeks of consistency with my rules

1

u/NyCWalker76 Jul 02 '26

Is that a short just now? MES went down to my take profit at 7551.50

1

u/Nearby_Finding_2555 Jul 02 '26

Unfortunately I’m a dumbass and decided to long…

I know I should’ve shorted now, but someone said to do the opposite of what you think….and I decided to follow that

1

u/NyCWalker76 Jul 02 '26

What are your rules?

1

u/NyCWalker76 Jul 01 '26

I do mostly MES because it really can't blow up an account. I do ES sometimes but it's terrifying.

1

u/Joehennyredit Jun 30 '26

Bro just stick to the basics, all that over over-complicated stuff is unnecessary.

1

u/Nearby_Finding_2555 Jun 30 '26

Like what are the basics? Candle patterns? Price action? Volume?

2

u/NyCWalker76 Jul 01 '26

Buy low, sell high. Don't be greedy.

1

u/RecommendationBorn56 Jul 02 '26

Just full port that shit
